I think the four of them should play. Do easy, brownstone and whatever else and make axl look like a giant douche for sitting there
Precisely!

Ali you would never make a good detective, because you dont seem to be able to piece all the information together even when it's right in front of you.
Can you show me a fact that says Slash wouldn't have played at the Key Club if Ax was there and got up and sang? Can you show me one bit of information confirming that any of the old band won't be at the HOF or won't play if Axl does? If you can't then by your logic we haven't been proven wrong with our opinions either.

I think Slash said something similar about having copies of the demos all stripped down and they sounded killer.

Izzy: I'd love to reunite with AFD lineup. I'd do it in a heartbeat if it was just us five. No disrespect to Dizzy Reed.
I don't recall that quote before. Wonder why he specifically said no Dizzy. Maybe he sees him as part of the turning point of when the band became a massive cabaret/circus act and the wheels started falling off. Dizzy and the UYI times were certainly when the bad started falling apart at the seams and obviously when it became no more fun for Izzy and he walked away.

Could be the most generic looking band I've ever seen, except for Slash of course. Rock stars just don't have the "look" they used to have. Does that make me sound old?
Agree, in an attempt to "not confrm" and look like what people think a rock dude should, they end up being quite uniform. Ironically trying to look different or anti establishment or individualistic, they actually become just another homogenous group.

So Ali what do you think is the reason Slash didn't play that night with Izzy, Duff and Adler?
It would seem to me that the most likely reason is that he didn't want to be involved in what would be covered in the press as a GNR reunion without the full line up in attendance.
That could be because he thought it would anger Axl, or it could be because he wanted to save the reunion card for a huge $200m live nation tour (the one that Axl turned down)..or maybe it's some other reason.....but in any event it seems that the most likely reason for no performance at RRHOF will be that Axl has said there is "Zero" chance of him dealing with slash...pretty clear cut to me.
Exactly this! Slash would have gotten up if Axl was there too I would bet my life on it. Slash went along to support Steven but also on the off chance (however slim it was) that Axl might turn up. If that was the case then I have no doubt in my mind he would have got up and played with them.
But because Axl didn't show he didn't play. He is playing the diplomat and hoping not to anger Axl even further by being seen to be involved in a GNR reunion but without Axl. He probably also wanted to save a bit of face by not looking like he was desperate for a reunion too.
Ali I think it's clear to almost everyone that Axl is the roadblock to any brief performance (like HOF or even Adler's little thing a few years ago).
Now a full blown reunion tour, album etc then that doesn't hinge on just Axl even if he said he would do it. The others guys demands and expecations I'm sure would need to be filled too. But to think any of the original guys other than Axl and possibly Izzy, would be the stumbling block to them getting up and jamming for a few songs in a one off scenario, you would have to be crazy.
Look at it this way, the other guys (excluding Axl and maybe Izzy) would throw their current projects under the bus in a second for any sort of original GNR performance. Axl would be much more considered before doing this and would need much more convincing. So again I say Axl is the roadblock to any brief original GNR performance, despite any diplomatic statements being made by the other guys.

I believe the other members are still bascially walking around on eggshells regarding Axl. I'm sure they all want to play (except Axl and who knows about Izzy) yet if they all come out Adler style saying, "we really wanna play, it will be so cool, but hey Axl is the sticking point". Then I would imagine that would just get up Axl's nose even more.
So in order to play it cool, not paint Axl as the one dick holding out that doesn't want to do it, they are down playing it, or in Slash's case saying it won't happen. They don't wanna piss Axl off further and give him any more reason to be annoyed and not play or maybe not even attend.
Jeez I mean don't try tell me that Slash wouldn't want to get up and play at such an event. Hell he would go to the opening of an envelope and play guitar, so there is no way in hell he wouldn't want to perform at this.
#828 Re: Guns N' Roses » Why are some people so opposed to a HOF reunion? » 737 weeks ago
I agree too D if I had to pick between the two, I would pick old.
But my point was not about that, it was simply stating that attending the HOF or supporting everyone going and playing at it, is not a statement to say old band is better than new band. It's also not a statement about which side of the feud you support.
People seem to see it like it is. If I say I want to see them play at HOF then I must think old band is better. I love the current lineup therefore I must be vehemently opposed to HOF.
I'm saying HOF is irrelevant as to which band you think is better. It's simply recognising what the old band achieved. No more no less.

I would like to think that they could be civil to each other, just for one night. To show that all of them have had at least some level of personal development over the years to the point where they can put their petty differences and bickering aside.
Sadly though, I feel that one individual doesn't appear to have grown or matured as a person one iota in the last 15+ years. They still see this thing as a war, "last man standing" and all the other chest beating bullshit. Equally as sad is there are fans that buy into this same bullshit and pick sides likes it's a school yard fight. They are likely the people that are opposed to the HOF thing because they have aligned themselves to "Team Axl". Therefore they must blindly oppose everything that is Slash and original GNR.
But the HOF thing is not about any of that shit. It's not about saying this lineup is better, or that person is good or bad. It's just recognising a group of individuals that acheived something great during their time together. No more no less. Playing together at the HOF is simply honouring that moment and that achievement.

"fuck this shit" is kinda how I feel too when I hear things like that.
