They should play Chinese Democracy, intro and all. That'd kick the fuck out of every pathetic asshole in that audience and all the other shitastic acts that play that night. Hell, they could play the intro through to the scream and just end it there, and it would still blow everyone out of their seats. That's a song they can pull off live and it's a song that announces to the world "Axl's back with a whole new Guns."

While I don't particularly agree with everything in your post, I think it's a well argued point of view. Still, none of that (for me) detracts from the fact that the Illusions songs are a tonally better fit to the CD era music than AFD is. Period.

GN'R needs to pay more attention to the Illusions to fill out their sets and cross pollinate with the CD era stuff. Tonally, it just fits better than the AFD material they've been rehashing. Sure, play the big guns off AFD, that's all the fans really need at this point. I think eight songs off the new album is a bit too thick to bring out the casual fans, but a better mix can be found between mixing up the new with the not-as-old, as opposed to the new with the accepted standard.

CC, my thoughts exactly. My hope is that with Favreau back on board, and I know there was a lot of drama in even accomplishing that, Marvel will still be able to release the best movie possible. I agree it's a seemingly short amount of time, but by 2010 we'll all be pretty hyped again. It'll be the year of Iron Man 2 and hopefully Chinese Democracy.
And jorge76, the way I understand it is that Marvel wants to debut their Captain America and Thor movies as well before they launch an Avengers franchise. They've all already got tentative dates, Captain America coming out a scant month or so before the Avengers movie to tie them all together.

I just talked to Jon Favreau a bit ago, and he said that while there hasn't been a formal announcement on the sequel to "Iron Man," he's begun developing it. "We're working on it now," he said, "which hasn't been officially announced. It will be released in 2010."
