Yeah that's what I thought.  Seems to me Hulk is willing just to take any promo or attention.

WTF is this vid about anyway? The whole thing seemed ridiculous?

True he probably does want to make new music, but because of the way he is, he's too pedantic, too scared, too perfectionist too everything, it somehow appears to make the creation and release of new music almost impossible for him.   I don't know what it is exactly but something definitely seems to make the whole process monumentally difficult for him.

It would have been funnier if they said his twitter account was hacked. 16

Damage control anyone!

A tweet that was posted on the "official" Twitter account of Paul Shaffer, the longtime David Letterman musical director and sidekick, regarding GUNS N' ROSES' appearance at next month's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony did not come from Shaffer himself, according to a spokesperson for the company in control of the account.

Michael Lichtstein, the Vice President of Programming at Envision Radio Networks, which for the past five years has been producing "Paul Shaffer's Day In Rock", a daily 60-second vignette illustrating the history of rock according to Shaffer, has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I am writing to set the record straight on a story Blabbermouth printed earlier this evening [Thursday, March 8]. The story quoted Paul Shaffer's Twitter account as saying GUNS N' ROSES would not be performing at this year's induction ceremony. Please know this tweet did not come from Mr. Shaffer, as his Twitter account is in conjunction with his syndicated radio feature with our network, and all tweets are handled by one of our staff members. No one is exactly sure what will happen at the induction ceremony, and we apologize for the inadvertent tweet."

Shaffer has served as musical director and producer for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony since its inception in 1986.

The tweet in question, which has since been deleted (see copy below), was a response to a query about the length of this year's ceremony. "GUNS N' ROSES will not be performing, so [the ceremony will] not [be] as long as you would think," the tweet read

With that line of thinking then Axl shouldn't play the old tracks with new Guns either coz he won't be able to play them with the same chemistry.

I'd be in favor of banning his tribute band.

They won't have the chemistry they did 25 years ago. They're different people now. Just the way it goes.

I don't think anyone expects them to have the same chemistry if it happened.  But it would be better than hearing VR play old guns tracks etc.

With that line of thinking then Axl shouldn't play the old tracks with new Guns either coz he won't be able to play them with the same chemistry.

Nobody expects them to play like it was 1987 yesterday, but it doesn't mean that a group performance couldn't still be really cool for the few minutes it occurs.

what if it kicked ass though?

It wouldn't. It'll never be what they were.

But could the collective be better than what they have individually now become - maybe!

If true, a colossal "fuck you" to the fans by all five of them. I don't care who the holdout was, just play without 'em.

Exactly, whoever says no the rest should still get up and perform without them.  It will only make whoever said no look like a little bitch.

Yeah I saw that thread at mygnr.  Who exactly was Del supposed to have said that to and in what context.  It wasn't clear?  Seemed a bit dodgy if you ask me.

If it's true tho and that's the way it goes down, if I was Slash, Duff, Izzy and Adler I would still get up and play without him.  That would just make Axl look like a bitchy little schoolgirl is that hasn't grown up one iota in the last 20 years.

You did not answer the question about why release CD at all if the intent was solely to tour and make money off the back catalog.

From what I can tell he ended up having no choice but to release CD.  Ever since he got the original advance for it from the record label (which I believe was while Slash and Duff were still in the band) he had been spending money hand over fist on the damn record.  Not only did he continue to piss all the labels money away, once that dried up he then had his hand in his own pocket for it.

So he was contractually bound to deliver a record and financially was probably up to his eyeballs in it too.  So fulfilling that obligation and clearing the decks of the debt was no doubt part of the motivation to release CD whether he wanted to or not.  Even if he just wanted to tour off the back catalogue after Slash and Duff left, he still would have no choice but to release CD at some point for the above reasons.

Personally I think he genuinely wanted to move forward, release new stuff regularly and establish nuGNR in its own right.  Sadly along the way that got all fucked up and now he just seems to be happy to trade mainly off the back catalogue.  I don't blame him for making a buck, but if he has changed his desire to create new music and move forward and is happy to trade off the nostalgia, get the old dudes back (if they will put up with him) and do it.  Otherwise, give your current bandmates some respect and actually get in the studio and record and release some new music with them.  Let the world see what they can do as a collective unit. Don't insult them by letting them spin their wheels for years on end, as they will eventually go the way of Bucket and Finck.
