I think the good thing about this being on Rock Band is it makes you assume it's a rocker, with guitars constantly featured and up front in the mix. I don't think Rock Band comes with a toy synth to play Pitman's parts on, so hopefully they're not nearly as prominent as they are on the leaks we have.

I totally hope your right, but remember the same game features Alanis Morissette. So i don't think it's a requirement for the songs to be ultra rocky. But I don't mean to be negative..really... I hope its an absolute beast of a track with Axl screaming his ass off, and bucket shredding us all a new asshole!! Something like that would tattoo GNR into the eyeballs of my friends who write them off as a has-been band...

Cool thanks!

I can't get that link to work though...anyone get it?

Edit: Figured out the problem - the forum seems to remove the ' after duff's name. Add that back in and it works smile

Thanks again!

Yeah like I said the other day at mygnr, its gonna be comical watching thousands backpedal on their Bucket hate the past four years.

It's been funny for a while like that in GNR land!

Like we now have Axl releasing his first new song in what almost 10 years since OMG in a video game, when Slash was endlessly bagged for GH3.

My other personal favourite is Robin leaving the band, I read through thousands of pages of posts about how Axl is a saint and everyone who left the band previously are nothing but 'quitters' and how Robin is better than slash cos he had been in the band longer. It isn't a coincidence that every one in the old band is gone. I mean why would people just walk away from fame and fortune. Its obvous Axl is difficult to work with for whatever reason. And i knew this would happen one day to the guys in the new band.

Back to topic...my fear is this: Do we know this is a bucket dominated track? I mean it's *named* after a track he wrote clearly...but it might be like better...where in every leak bucket's part gets further back in the mix. And god knows how many people like bumble have added new parts. Just because the leaks we have that pre-date BBF don't feature him doesn't mean he hasn't done anything. Then again - axl did say about sharing his Dr pepper with Bucket...so i guess he will still be on there. I'll i'm saying is i wouldnt be shocked if it turned out his parts had been reduced to a quick solo burst going into a chorus here and there. Damn i hope this has some kind of wild guitar outro tho....

Man this is frustrating as shit. Fuck this crap. They need Axl and he needs them. These pricks need to get over it and realize how great they can still be.

Yeah i hear ya. Since the break up all that has been proven is that a whole is more than the sum of its parts.

Sure Snakepit showed slash can still write killer rock guitar riffs. The leaks showed Axl can still write killer melodies and lyrics. The GNR tours showed axl has the fame and persona and talent to pull off a world tour with a bunch of hired hands and survive on who he is alone. The VR tours showed Slash and Duff and Matt can still put on a damn fine rock show....even when their singer hates the style of music they play best.
What is being proven? How many people would prefer to have a VR album over a GNR record featuring the original band? Who would prefer to see the 2007 GNR line up over the people that wrote the AFD setlist that gets played? It's all very sad and basicly a waste of talent to see everyone reduced to 80% of their ability because they cant find a way to compromise.

I could do a better "It's So Easy" than that shit.

Christ.

It was bad huh. The sad thing is slash was awesome on it. Makes me put on my 'reunion' hat.

Anyway...i think we should wait and see how this guy does singing his own melodies, as being bad at covers doesn't really mean he wouldn't be good in his own style.

No such thing as a shameless plug here. Any member here who's a musician can feel free to post their stuff anytime.

On my dial up connection at the moment, but I'll check this out tomorrow night.

Thanks James smile

I'll be interested to know what you think of it smile

What do you guys sound like anyway?

thanks smile

There are a couple of songs on myspace or reverbnation you can listen to from the links on our site
( www.theevidents.com.

Hmm...not sure what we sound like exactly...hard to define it against other bands...

We have a mix of songs from lighter rock to some quite hard rock but only two are recorded as yet.

I play guitar with very little effects which tends to give it somewhat of a 1970s flavour perhaps.

Although the engineer who did the vocals and mixing for the recordings, put in some reverb on the singer and pushed him back in the mix, which has given the whole songs more of an 80s vibe than they have when performed live.

I want more VR. I'll take Slash and Duff playing together over Duff doing loaded and Slash doing drugs.

VR without Scott gives them the chance to write songs that are less repitious (all of scotts songs always have a strong chorus hook but then repeat everything to death), have more solos and are less grungy and more rocky.

I'll grant that he apparently can't sing "It's so Easy", but then anyone who covers Axl sounds like ass. I think some original material could be good.

#8969 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » RUMOR: Royston Langdon is Velvet Revolver's new singer » 931 weeks ago

I don't know spacehog...so i'll give it a chance smile

Even if the singer isn't the best match for slash (seriously no one will ever be another Axl type fit) - i feel the  STP influence in VR was way too strong....I think VR with more GNR style song constructions could be cool. The VR demos were cool - and it seems to be scott who doesn't like slash to solo, and remember he went through 2 full cds of Slash and Izzy riffs and said slither was the only decent tune. Sounds like bs to me. I think anyone new could be a breath of fresh air for this band...

#8970 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash Interview from Headbangers ball 1995 » 931 weeks ago

Wow. This interview shows what a tradgity the whole mess is, that even after snakepit and years after UYI the band could almost have continued on successfully. I bet if you'd told slash that 13 years after he recorded this interview, Axl STILL wouldn't have put out an album he'd be freaked.

So much interesting stuff if this...80 songs....even acounting for riff-recyclying in snakepit 2, loaded and VR that makes you wonder what else would have been. There's also that interview pre-vr where Slash said he and izzy had written their best riffs ever and it would have been a great GNR album...

Sometimes I wish Slash and Axl would take a leaf out of this interview and go "we don't want to fuck around anymore, let's just do it"
