Yeah i'm kinda shocked about the ABBA news dying so quickly as well. 15 years ago, I think this would've been mainstream news.

They just waited too long. Had GN'R waited 'til around 2020, it would've been too late as well.

Even some of the diehards around here have noted how 'old' it seems the GN'R crowd is skewing. Although there are some new fans seeing it for the first time around, the reality is the majority of even their 'younger' fans probably skew to the early 30's or older. The majority of those fans are in the 40's, 50's, and probably even older.

ABBA's fan base is about 10 years older. So couple that in. So yeah, they are either in their 70's or dead.

ABBA just waited too long. No one caring in the U.S., I get. But ABBA was one of the biggest musical acts of all-time internationally.

As for Dokken, the rock world actually has been talking about the Dokken thing, or at least the Eddie Trunk/Glam Metal-circles. Problem is Don Dokken has toured his version of Axl's New GN'R for so many years with "Wild" Mick Brown on drums (Don's 'Dizzy Reed') that most people have just gotten accustomed to original guitarist George Lynch being in Lynch Mob (yes, they still tour), and bassist Jeff Pilsson has had GREAT success as a replacement player/co-writer in Foreigner.

Don held out for years for a certain price, and although everyone dropped the news way early, Don didn't even confirm the reunion until last Saturday night. Don also made it clear there would be no U.S. tour, or European festival shows.

They're gonna do 6 shows in Japan, and possibly a warm-up gig/DVD up at Badlands Pawn in South Dakota, and that's it.

Don & George have hated each others guts since the early 80's when the band started, and they still bicker. But basically Don got an offer that was like more money than any four of them would make in 5 years worth of touring. Including Pilsson with Foreigner.

It was just too lucrative to pass up.

It's always been sad about Dokken. They were one of the unique, one-of-a-kind glam metal bands to come out of LA during that period, along with Ratt.

Who? Exactly

Kinda of like when the mainstream media kept promoting the headline -- "Guns N' Roses, LCD Soundsystem to reunite at Coachella!"

6.99999999999999999 billion people in the world all collectively reacted with... "who the fuck is LCD Soundsystem?"

I also noticed Axl touched on the vocal issues at one point, referring to his Chinese-era voice as "clean vocal". Axl claimed he intentionally sang that way in order to change his vocal and challenge himself. He also admitted it wasn't as warmly received as he thought it'd be, people obviously missing his old voice.

His reasoning imo though is bullshit. I don't think the rasp has always been there, he just chooses not to use it. I think Axl gets vocally lazy, and even in the interview he admitted he has a vocal coach on tour with him with AC/DC for the first time in 20 years. I think Axl's quitting of chain smoking had a HUGE affect on the decline of his rasp since 1993. imho

The guy just keeps cracking me up. How can a big rock star who's voice is his living not have a vocal coach?

Not sure I believe him when he says it was purely an intentional choice. Seems more logical he would try a new voice if he struggled to maintain the old. His AC/DC stint does prove he still has the ability though, so maybe.

I agree. It was the one spot in the entire interview I felt he was full of shit.

Axl quit smoking could be a cause, not really singing live for 6-7 years could be a cause, age, etc.

But saying he intentionally did it to mark a vocal change to challenge himself on Chinese is a bit of a stretch. Not having a vocal coach for 20 years would explain why he's been so vocally off the mark from 2001-present. Sebastian Bach claimed in 2006 that Axl was working with HIS vocal coach at the time, and that would explain why Axl was pretty good in 2006 with rasp mixed with clean to a nice balance, much like 2016 has been. This whole year has been very reminiscent of 2006 for Axl vocally. Which is a good thing, and probably the way he'll sing for the rest of his life.

The 2010 full rasp stuff is long gone. And to me that drastic change from 2009 to 2010 then falling off the cliff in 2011-14 shows that Axl A) wasn't training properly, B) wasn't prepping properly, and C) didn't give a shit.

Thus the DISASTER of the Rio 2011 performance. It amazes me there's actually apologists on MyGNR now that actually think that show is good because they are so far up Axl's ass. Amazing. That show, and the 2012 Bridge School were the lowest points of Axl's career. Imo, Bridge School could be blamed on strep throat and a charity event and it just ended in disaster.

But Rio 2011?

That was all Axl just half-assing the whole thing and it blew up in his face imo. I stand by it.

Now all of the sudden in 2016, Axl suddenly gives a shit for, not just the first time since 1993, but seemingly the first time since 1991 when Axl actually was rehearsing for the Rio II performances, and getting ready for a headlining stadium tour.

Suddenly Axl's good again.

Axl may be Axl fucking Rose, but I think the guy has a lazy streak in him. It's not inherent Mozart-level genius. Nope nope nope.

#87 Re: The Garden » How Realistic Do You Think A 3rd World War Is? » 470 weeks ago

I didn't vote anything, because I don't think it's that simple of an answer. At this stage of the game, the only real war would be nuclear. The status elites have been planning for it for years with fallout shelters and underground retreats. But they are also the ones with the finger on the button.

Obama's handling of foreign policy has been deplorable to say the least. Russia's involvement in Ukraine was to protect it's own sovereignty from the EU (aka foreign bankers, aka NWO). U.S. is in-league with the NWO as of now, and has pretty much become the heel of the world. We're hated everywhere, and with good cause. We are the aggressors. What it's lead to is a rise in people who enjoy in the "thought" of hating America, but with no real organization, no real leadership, no real future, because the power brokers are all controlling these pieces back and forth.

Which leads me to the next thing. America is the great devil. But for most of the world it's "The Devil They Know". America is like clockwork, which alot of countries NEED to be that devil when they need a devil, and that angel when they need an angel.

Russia is the only country I could see as scared, especially because Obama doesn't talk to Putin (mainly because Putin is 50x smarter than Obama and he's intimidated by Vlad), but at the same time Russia couldn't be the first strike in a nuclear war without slitting it and it's countrymen's own wrists.

China talks big, manipulates markets, and threatens. But China needs the U.S. money and jobs for their crony-captialist Anarchist-Community bullshit country they have.

The better question is, if Trump means anything in the slightest of what he's saying, AND could pull it off, would the outside world suddenly become desperate and threatened by a truly isolationist-America? Would they make a move to beg, an act of war, for money, for business? How desperate would they get?

Either way... whatever Snowden told the Russian government, Putin is preparing to turn Russia isolationist. Whatever they're preparing for, I don't know, but they certainly are taking it serious (Ukraine).

I don't think the future is a World War, the future is adapting the world into a One World Goverment/Economy-ideology. Those who refuse, get left behind or eliminated Person of Interest-style.

Problem is, with the way everything is set up, everyone kind of needs the other. I still don't buy ISIS is a real threat, other than a media and state department creation. You can't declare war on them, it's too large, yet at the same time there's no real organization either. It's all kind of like scattered, crazed, chickens running around with AK's.

There's more people killed on the earth every year in car wrecks than by terrorism or any war threat. Nobody is banning cars.

I find it hard to believe going into the future there will be any real war threat. Serious war. It's already existed. Police state kills an emprisons millions every year. Needless military action does the same.

Does someone have to call it a 'World War'?

This is the future. We're already here. War time, death, destruction, murder... it's just a 30 second blip on the news, and people then go back to playing Candy Crush on Fagbook. NO ONE CARES.

It's done

The Devil Won

#88 Re: The Garden » The United Kingdom General Election, 2nd May 2024 » 470 weeks ago

I'm convinced at this point the only thing to save the U.K. & the U.S. is Trump's Nationalism. It's crazy, I know. It's never worked out before in history. I know.

But with the continuance of the globalists pushing of this infinite war on "Radical Islam", despite the fact they pay Israeli Intelligence to pose as ISIS to commit attacks and force Muslims out of their homes... what else is there to do?

Only thing U.K. & U.S. can do is LOCK DOWN. Shut the borders. No one else in or out. Done.

But how would that affect commerce & trade? Hillary just wants to sell every fucking thing the U.S. has off to China.

#89 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl at the Chinese Exchange » 470 weeks ago

Actually James, my theory is do a reverse Soundgarden.

Have GN'R put out their version of Telephantasm, with either a lost gun or a new track, so good, it can take on a "Black Rain" or "Live To Rise" status and be instantly accessible.

Yes that hot single status to push the Best of set.

While riding that wave, the following year or whenever. Drop GNR's "Echo of Chinese" release. People won't give a shit, they'll be riding the wave.

THEN do your King Animal comeback.

I think it could work, because people will be so on top of the Slash stuff, I don't think most would pay any attention to a Slash-less release the following year.

#90 Guns N' Roses » Speculation: GN'R Classics Re-Record in the future? » 470 weeks ago

Strictly speculation...

There have been so so so many complaints of the songs this tour being performed too quickly, but all of it seems to be with purpose. Slash & Duff are back in the band, with their say, and Slash & Duff have already re-worked their bits to the Chinese tracks being performed, as well as brushing up on the songs they haven't performed with GN'R since 1993, such as NR, Estranged, Coma, etc.

With a potential GN'R Best of possibly coming, and with the Chinese songs re-worked, the band seems like they've re-worked, and reheased and rehearsed the classics as well.

They seem to all be on the same page.

The songs seem fresher, more spry, and move with a bit more urgency. But not in a bad way. Just a different spirit.

Could THIS band be ramping up for a potential re-record release? Possibly, if just, internationally? Or part of a new album set?

They seem to have put A-LOT of work into these songs, so much to the point, that they are reinvented (good or bad), and are NOT being performed like they were in 1987-1993, and the band, as a unit, seem to have NO intention on changing it back.

Would seem a waste to go through all that work and reheasing, not to get it down on tape (old me), whether it be new studio re-records, or a potential live release of this tour.

Thoughts on a re-branding of GN'R with Axl, Slash, Richard, Duff, Frank, Dizzy & Melissa in-studio?
