#9141 Re: Guns N' Roses » New Baz interview - mentions Axl, Slash and CD » 936 weeks ago

Also...he prob wants to do big numbers to rub it in the face of the skid row boys. Same problem Axl will have.

Anyway...What was his exact quote again? Wasn't he speaking about music piracy and dowloads lowering sales more than just bitching that sales were low.

Piracy in the industry is a problem and surely its its a problem for artists like MIA as well as Sebastian.

Put it like this..its one thing if your album doesn't sell well because people don't want to hear it...its another thing if they want to hear it then go download it...especially if you paid for it yourself.

I'm probably biased on this issue...cos I'm currently making an EP with my band...and recording studios cost a damn fortune!

But did MIA pay for her own album from her own money?

#9143 Re: Guns N' Roses » New Baz interview - mentions Axl, Slash and CD » 936 weeks ago

Stop it guys if you keep talking about a new GNR album with the old line up i'm going to have to go and take a cold shower wink I can't think of anything cooooler than that would be....perfect boookend to the drama too.

I don't see Baz's comment that he doesn't do music for $ and his complaints about Angel Down sales as incompatiable. He has said that instead of buying himself a ferrari he got himself a record, so he's obviously invested serious cash. Now while he may not be making creative decisions (like joining VR) based on $, you can see how he'd be annoyed for people to steal what he has made instead of buying it when its his own money up there.

#9145 Re: Guns N' Roses » Robin back in NIN. Temp or not is the question? » 936 weeks ago

Brain had a reason to want out tho...he had a family...and the band was touring...those things don't go well together. So its more plausable he would take some time off like a paternity leave kinda deal.

But this robin situation just means he is gone. Especially with the time lag there has been now. I mean if he wasn't gone...either he or the band would say he wasn't gone! But he says nothing and the band says "don't know and don't want to guess". I mean WTF is that? That means BEST CASE is he hopes he can come back to CD post NIN if Axl is still doing business stuff that long.

I can't see how anyone can think that, in light of the band admitting that even they don't know what his status is, he should be considered in until he says he is out.

I mean come on...if your band mates don't know if your in the band...that means your not in the fucking band... 16

#9146 Re: Guns N' Roses » Would the old band play the new songs? » 936 weeks ago

Stylistly I see no reason why it can't happen...much is made of the new bands style...but really...."the blues" isn't much different from a song like 'yesterdays'. TWAT is very much in the style of NR/Breakdown Estranged...

However I don't see it happening for more personal reasons.

Agreed...I think Trujillo is a great addition to the band...fantastic skills and good to watch....looking forward to the new album....

Between all the snakes, the wierd stuff that lives in our oceans and the drop bears sometimes I'm amazed anyone lives here.

wow. cool news that its happening so fast.

the name change is interesting - perhaps after the GNR debacle they are sensitve to using band names after people go - or maybe its cos the new singer will not want to be associated with scott.

So what are the current rumours?

1. Cornell. Would be awesome. Although he's arogant as all hell, so would lead to more scott issues. Also everyone seems to think he won't do it.

2. Baz. I'd also like this. But it seems less likely now than a few years back as Baz has a good solo band and a record  and tour happening. Also the band previously rejected him, and he seems to have said its not happening to Axl. So i doubt that will happen.

3. Kiedis. Not sure what i think of this...his rap style thing wouldn't sit well with me outside of a funk outfit like RHCP I think..but i'd give it a listen.

4. Tosh Todd...already bounced once, plus buckcherry is recording a new album.

What are the other famous people options?

#9150 Re: The Sunset Strip » Nick/Hulk Hogan Call (UNBELIEVABLE!) » 937 weeks ago

yeah I agree. The kid needs to accept that he is a nobody! Maybe if he buffed up he'd get a run in the wrestling world..but I gather is he very much un-hogan like.

I guess I got defenisive as Hulk is one of those celebraties people love to bash these days, and I have kinda a soft spot for him because WWF and hogan was a huge part of my childhood and represents a lot of positive influences ("the training, the prayers, the vitamins" LOL) and happy memories of when I was a kid.

I can also see Hogan seniors predicament here in that his kid has fucked up, but like its his kid. So if his kid wants a relaity show about it I can see hogan will use what ability he has to make it happen.

However at the same time i can totally see that its kinda delusional that anyone cares about nick other than that he is related to hulk. And its not cool the way they blame the victim.

I think a lot of celbs get this kinda wierd mindset about fates because of how lucky they've been. I mean obviously talent is a factor in the entertainment business, but i think timing and luck plays a roll too...and I think therefore because of how lucky some of them are and don't want to accept it...they come up with these ideas that everything happens for a reason and that bad stuff happens to people for a reason too.

Actually to get TOTALLY off topic. I read a thing once about why people don't have more sympathy for homeless people. The premise of it was - our western culture is founded on the idea that 'anyone can grow up to be famous/president/pm etc' - its the western dream that if you want it hard enough and try hard enough you can get anything. Of course we dont mention the factors of luck and timing etc. So then when people have failed rather than succeeded in life....we see what's happened to them as the opposite of them having beleived or tried hard enough to make it happen. As if a homeless person had the chance to be a brain surgon if they just wanted it bad enough...whereas in 90% of cases they had fuck all chances in life. Blaming the victim seems common in our culture.
