I really hate to be "that guy", but I'm sorry, I have no desire to leak material and hurt Axl.
I agree with the sentiment in theory...but then I have to ask...Did you feel that way when you downloaded them? Did you downloading them harm Axl? If it doesn't hurt him when you did it then it doesn't when you send them to me 
Lets be honest. We're a small subset of people who care about this stuff. I can see not publishing it on youtube for the masses. But hardcores on forums. I will buy whatever Axl releases whenever he releases it regardless. The only difference is this way I'd enjoy TIL for a few extra years first.
Really the only person that harms Axl is his self thwarting behaviour. I mean we'd all have bought the AFD30th edition, we'd all have paid to go watch the 2012 gig in the cinema, we'd all have bought the dvd docos....we'd all have watched the 2008 TV interviews about the album release...but someone always upsets him and then he cuts off his noise to win a moral victory against the business types and we have nothing....
Sure...lets not publish it in the media...but I can't accept that letting 10 more people here listen to a 17 year old song really harms the band anymore than they do themselves, or indeed would have any actual impact on anything considering we're all deeply harccore and buy all GNR tickets at every chance etc....

Not the kind of hassle I want.
That guy worked at a major record label, ran a popular music blog, and then pubically leaked most of an album that was already millions of dollars in the red and one of the most anticipated releases of all time.
Doesn't really seem to me like whoever you are, and 10 year old versions of Silkworms and the This I Love are really the same situation.

There are people with rare songs to trade....
There are people with money to spend....
There are deals to be done....
But strangely enough no one has been able to provide a clip from Atlas or The General to demonstrate they have anything to bring to the deal.

Well that settles it.
No one could guess that Axl would write another Piano ballad.
It's out of character, it's not like any of the Chinese Democracy songs featured lengthy piano ballads. Hell it's weird for him to write any kinda love songs, show any queen or elton john influence or display any interest in show music and piano themed stuff. Luckily none of his contributions to Use Your Illusion featured any type of ballad or piano basis either.
Nup...the only way someone could know there would be a piano ballad would be if they have it.
But just in case some people are still skeptical. Wait for it. We have the absolute revelation that the leak features...Bumblefoot. Amazing. I mean he was only in the band for 7 years or so and he's never given an interview where he specifically listed that song as a song he finished prior to 2008 that didn't make the record. And let's face it - none of Axl's piano songs tend to have guitar solos or guitar outros. Not a one. If you were thinking of writing an Axl piano ballad - you'd not add any guitar.
But not sold yet? Wait for it - there's synth. Amazing. There was no synth on CD at all. This must be a new song no one has ever heard. And it was lenghty...as opposed to the snappy "over before you realise it" works of Axl's piano...past....
Well damn...I don't need to hear a clip to prove it now....it's clearly all true.
There's no way anyone could have known those rich and surprising details.

I dunno there's people on this board with contacts to Niven who seem to think he's an ok guy.
I just found this whole thing really surprising. Like if it had just been Mustaine or just been Nikki Sixx or whatever I'd have been like "how kooky that famous guy is" - but it's weirding me out that like half the bands I like seem to have fucked around with occult stuff at some point.
Unless it was a general fad, but like I don't think most of the people I meet have fooled around with such stuff, so it seems weird that so many music types have a history of it.

It's well known that Axl sort spiritual assistance from "Yoda" back in the day...but I recently came across something I didn't know....

Has anyone heard anything about this before? I had no idea Niven and Izzy had dabbled in this stuff.
It's curious how many famous acts seem to have been associated at one time or another with occult stuff (Motley, Megadeth, Led Zep, GNR etc) was it fashion in the 80s or is there just more to the music scene than I realise?

so where did this supposed new version of silkworms come from?
You know the 3 minute sampler from 2011-2012 or whenever that goes around with 15 seconds of Silkworms, the CD remixes, and some DJ tracks?
Some trader type people have had all those songs in full since then - that's why there's a sample of them.
Getting them out into the general public from those hoarders is harder.
But at least there's proof that some fans have those.
There's no evidence that anyone outside of the actual band has The General or Atlas.
One does not prove the other considering they've been around since 2011 in various lengths and qualities.
