Yeah, love Tommy on those demos. Even The Blues his bass is killer. One of the reasons I hate Ron's parts on CD is that it came at the expense of Tommy in the mix. His riff on CD is a big example. And really, Robin could have done that riff, but more grungy/NIN feel, which would be more organic. Just shows how out of place Ron was in this band. The only thing I like was his contributions to If The World, which was basically background fills.

Now that you brought that up, I went and listened to the 2001 Rock in Rio version of Chinese Democracy (the song)  and then listened to the album version.  The version that ended up on the disc was absolutely horrible.  Honestly, I don't think any of those Ron solos are neccesary at all and really it's just noise as Lofton said.  The 2001 version had more crunch and balls.  His first solo where he solos over Axl's vocal fucks up the song, imo.

Adler deserves to be involved. If they're not going to use him for a tour I think he should at least get to do the whole first show when the entire planet will be tuned in. It's all the guy has ever wanted. I'd like to know Axl's current feelings towards that asinine lawsuit from Adler although we know they hung out in 2006(07?).

Yup, I prefer his playing over Sorum.  And really just playing a few shows for him would provide enough happiness and closure for Adler.  Even though I'm quite curious on how he would sound on some of those Illusion tunes.

I don't want any members of the CD lineup involved. If Izzy declines to be involved I hope they call Gilby. I don't want Fortus anywhere near it but I could see why they might go with him. He looks like Izzy and would be so low key during it casual fans filling stadiums/arenas might even think he is Izzy. Drummer wise they don't need Frank. If Adler cant do it or they don't want him to there's no reason that Sorum cant handle it.

I know the big enchiladas of a reunion are Axl and Slash but there will be complaints from fans and media if other members from 87-91 are left out.

One little interesting tidbit of a reunion would be if Adler is involved and of course Dizzy for obvious reasons, it will be the first time the two of them will have performed together.

I really don't want any of the CD lineup involved at all either.   Pittman's fart noises don't really add anything to the songs.  I'm pretty sure Izzy would be down for the reunion.  He has said so in the past.  Gilby is fine as a replacement if Izzy choses to bail.

A question I had--if this reunion happens, will Slash and Duff (and Izzy) be happy being employees of Axl or would he actually let them back into the partnership?  Highly unlikely, but still something I find interesting.

I felt he should have just dropped the album in 2001.  There was decent buzz coming from the two Las Vegas concerts and the Rock in Rio concert as well.  There was also a very good Rolling Stone article that came out in 2000 as well.  Again, things were aligned for him to release the album.

Personally speaking, while I'm not a big fan of that lineup, I was excited after hearing those new songs and wanted to hear what the entire album sounded like.  After that there was like a cancelled tour (in 2001) and more silence, until he finally did the VMA thing in 2002.  Ultimately though, I  wonder if the band were better prepared for that VMA performance whether or not that would have led to a better outcome.  This next part sounds really superficial but I wish Axl would have worn something other than a football jersey and Finck would have worn something normal.  They really looked like freaks/weirdos in that performance and I think that turned some people off.  And Axl should have been in shape/sang better in that performance.  I went and listened to the Jungle part of that performance and it wasn't very good at all.

But anyway, even if they do drop the album in 2001-2002, does anyone not think that Axl would have screwed it up in some way or another?

As for Axl/Slash, that is very good news for them personally. I doubt that this means reunion though. Slash is moving forward with a third  record with Myles, Duff is working on a new solo disc, a new Mad Season album, and will probably also tour the second Walking Papers disc; and somehow I doubt Axl is willing to throw CD2 away. It might happen some years down the line though.

CD2 has zero value outside of the diehards (and even that is debatable).  But my hope is that they finally release a Bluray of the Ritz Show or any classic show from the AFD era.  It would be nice to see a documentary and concert of the UYI tours as well.

But if they wanted to release a new album I wonder if they could go the Van Halen route and just release unreleased tracks from 1990-1996.  I'm not sure whether or not they have enough material to do that however.

I'm am happy that they finally seemed to have resolved their differences though, especially for Axl.  It seemed like the feud bothered him a lot more than it did Slash.

Any guesses on who got cast as Euron? It's still a mystery.

Ian Mcshane, maybe?  It can't be Max Von Sydow as he is 89 years old.  I haven't read the novels so this will all be new for me.

Thanks!    I was going to ask whether or not anyone wanted to play this year.  I'm in.

Double standard. DJ is too popular & mainstream to pull that bullshit with. Has tons of fans and he's always kept them informed. Since he's releasing albums with Sixx  no use in playing this fantasy land game with GNR anymore.

I NEVER liked this guy but I don't blame him at all for leaving. People that want productive careers cant stay in the band indefinitely. Its only an ideal situation for musicians that dont care about releasing music and just want a paycheck. I'm shocked Stinson stayed around so long.

Bingo, at some point as creative artists you acutually want to release material.  I'm shocked Stinson stayed around too since he didn't particularly care for classic Guns material.

Reunion or bust for Axl at this point.

Oh yeah, there is almost zero chance of Robin coming back.  I'm pretty sure I read somewhere if he left NIN again he probably couldn't return there ever.  Buckethead is a non starter since he's even less likely to rejoin Axl than Slash would be.

agreed - axl would indeed be the weak link. you'd hope he would take it seriously, slim down, tone up and get himself in fighting shape for it. The extra pounds he's been lugging around the last 10 odd years can't have helped his singing any. But you'd of thought he might have attempted that already. Slash, Duff, Matt (Izzy?) would be up to speed and not miss a trick - seasoned pros - i've no doubt. Although none of them have written anything remotely as interesting as what they did in the Guns era, their chops are as tight as ever.

Yeah, I listened to a couple of recent tour videos (2014) on youtube lately and the "mickey mouse" vocals were in full effect.  He either needs to change the way he sings or just get into shape.

For those interested that need that info. Sign on up. An 8 team league is kind of lame, so hopefully we get some bites.

I'd actually like to sign up and play this year.  But I'll do it if you need another team, no sense in me signing up and  having the league get stuck with an odd number of teams.

We've got 9 right now so you'd be a welcomed addition. Let me know if you have any troubles signing up. Should be straight forward. Still haven't heard from Neemo. I know he doesn't post much here anymore, but that could be said for a lot of us. I'm not sure if I have his correct email. In fact, I'm pretty sure I don't. He gave me his new email a few years back, but I don't seem to have it anymore. Also haven't heard back from another guy from HTGTH that's been in the league since the start. The more the merrier, but I'd like at least 10 teams, 12 would be preferable.

Faldor,

You mind just sending me an invite via email?  I clicked on the link in the first post and just keep on getting this message:

You are not allowed to view this page because you are not in this league. (Error #152).

Thanks in advance.

And it's now tainted Batista. I don't see him recovering. And tbh, his return promo was fucking terrible. They're going to try and push him, despite what the fans want. DB will only get more popular the more they shit on him...And no, it's not an act. HHH doesn't want him as a main eventer. It's the whole reason he brought Batista back, and it blew up in his face.

That was pretty hilarious.  Orton comes out to zero reaction at all.  He starts his usual boring monotone promo and is naturally putting the crowd to sleep.  But wait, Batista comes out to an even worse (non) reaction from the crowd.  And he gives another shitty promo.  Thank god, Lesnar and Heyman came out and injected some energy to that segment.

Sting/HBK would have been awesome 10 years ago.

I think it would still be awesome. HBK could carry Sting in spots, but he still has enough left to put on a helluva show. I watched his last TNA match, he didn't have a good opponent. And I can't believe the bald spot and wrestling with a T-shirt. But putting him in the ring with HBK would take him to another level.

Not sure HBK would unretire for Sting but it's possible I guess.  Sting should use the Scorpion death drop as a finisher though since his knees can't take the pounding when he tries to apply the Scorpion death lock.  I think there are enough good wrestlers thtat can carry Sting in a match.  I would also think that Sting would actually get in shape and work his ass off not to embarass himself in the ring.

Also, the rumors are that he has signed a WWE Legends contract and will make an appearance (but not wrestle a match) at Wrestlemania 30.

Also, it's being reported that CM Punk basically just left and went home and now he has been taken off all house shows for the next few weeks.  If he doesn't show for Mania, I wonder who they will stick in his spot for that match with HHH.
