yeah.. some solo's are just iconic... hence the scom solo staying intact...
patience is another one... robin is a gifted musician, but based on his work with NIN, i don't see how axl thought he would have been a suitable replacement for slash on lead... but, then again.. he WAS kinda on a nails kick at the time....
Axl is smarter than we think. (I hope) I don't think he ever wanted to replace Slash. He probably wanted a guitarist that was as talented but not replace him as it is impossible. Just like replacing Bucket is impossible.

Brighteyes. Who would be your hybrid lineup? Didn't answer tyler's question.

Don't know a thing.
what kind of "hybrid" did you have in mind?
mine would be:
axl
bucket
bumble
fortus
dizzy
pitman
BRAINbumble... take him or leave him...
i think my opinion may be junk on this though... i've been lost in bucket's solo shit all day..
Not bad. I'd replace Brain with Josh Freese though. But just my opinion.

Ehh sucks I guess. His whole style in GNR was starting to grow on me. IF, and thats a big if, they tour next year, hopefully they can get him back.
bucketfan wrote:Good riddance Robin, you hack!
Go watch some videos of him in NIN or go to a NIN concert and you will realize how talented he actually is. He is completely out of his element in GNR and with the recent success of these NIN tours, I totally understand his decision.
While he may be perfect for NIN he wasn't perfect for GNR. He botched a lot of songs and solos. When I saw GNR he nailed SCOM like nobody can. But he destroyed Patience amongst other songs.

I hope they give John 5 a call. If not then Bucket returning would be awesome although an almost impossible thing.

gnfnraxl wrote:Personally I don't hope this album tanks or sucks. From what I've heard thus far with the leaks we had during the summer. The album sounds good. Nothing more but nothing less. I'll wait to hear the album when it comes out before giving my final judgment on it. Makes me laugh though when I see good reviews and everybody glorifies the writer that wrote the good review and if there is a bad review then they torch him. I don't get that. Music is subjective. Some will like CD and some won't. Some can accept Slash is gone and some can't. I don't care if there is a good or bad review. I'll judge the album by myself and so should anyone who likes GNR or should I say Axl. I think it's great that the RS review was so pro-GNR and CD. But if I read a bad review I won't discredit it because that person will be entitled to their opinion. It's called freedom of expression.
I think people have expressed, we're all willing to accept critical/negative reviews, as long as they're not baseless. If they give legitimate reasons for not liking the album, then okay. But you're right, everything is subjective. And one reviewers views probably will not be shared by all. Again though, as long as there's no, it took 14 years for this? GNR isn't the same without Slash. Axl doesn't care about his fans. Give me something original or at least something to think about, then I can respect it.
And props to nugdafied for coming forth, though obviously we don't see eye to eye. Man, you sure didn't hold back at all.
Expect the it took 14 years comment alot! And to be honnest. From what I've heard this summer, CD is NOT an album that was worth 14 years of waiting. That album should've been released at least 2 years ago and even before that. But the wait aside, it should not interfere on wether you like the album or not. Yes I think the wait was way too long. But it will not influence what I think of the album and should not influence anyone.

They should bring back Bruce Kulick if they are gonna record another record. I agree Revenge was a pretty good album.

My problem with this is it isn't a review. I'd have no problem if that had talked about the songs and why they thought it sucked.
