Saw Mark Canter posted this at mygnr, referring to the  Lebeis':

They have been running things for a long time. They will also save 15% that they would have to had paid someone else to do the things that they have already been telling a manger to do. I know that sounded a bit twisted but what I'm trying to say is that they are the ones who have been running things anyways, so why pay the extra cash. It will free up money to get more things done.

Nothing new obviously as we all knew those guys were really pulling the strings and management had to go thru them.  But interesting to hear someone close to Axl confirm it.

It makes sense, if you are paying someone for management and advice that you aren't taking, you are wasting your money.

The logical next question following that statement is if they are the ones that have been running things anyway, why should we expect anything different going forward when they are "officially" in control?

Hope I'm wrong because I want new music from Axl and bloody anyone he cares to get in the studio at this stage.  Plus I would love to see this band function even remotely like a normal band.  So I will cross my fingers and hope for the best, but sadly my expectations are low. I hope I end up with egg on my face and they prove me wrong.

What are the chances of having 2 drummers playing at the same time then at RNRHOF 16

So couldn't pitman do what dizzy does?

IMO having Pitman makes Dizzy redundant if they wanted to, which they obviously don't.

I can't see why he needs Dizzy and Pitman?

Christina can I see the rest of it.......oh wait you've answered that.

What are the images on your shoulders and forearms, it's hard to tell from the small pic?

Look on the bright side, now that the Lebeis's are running the clown show we might get some more leaks from Fernando again.

Thinking about this whole thing I don't give a fuck who is doing what in the background as long as stuff gets done. I want new music from Axl and whoever thats with i dont care at this point. Judging by his discography Axl has largely wasted his talent looking at the relatively small body of work he has put out. I know quality not quantity is the key, but still.

That said what professional organizations are going to want to deal with what appear to be an amateur management group. I wouldn't want to risk my capital. Hopefully this doesn't make for things becoming even more difficult to get done.

Although I simply cannot fathom what is so difficult and causes so many problems? Axl oftens references to all the hurdles and behind the scenes problems on the rare occasion he speaks. Really, what is so unique about Gnr and their situation, every other band seems to be able to deal with things, it honestly can't be that hard. I would love to know what the obstacles are?

On a separate note wasnt Beta involved In the Guitar Hero negotiations? That appeared to work out well for them and go as planned.  16

The main guitar Slash used for the majority of recording Appetite was a 59 bootleg that Alan Niven gave him. As Niven recalls. "I knew I had to help him when I found his latest guitar, an SG, sticking through the windscreen of the band rental van. I went to a great luthier, Jim Foote, to ask his advice. He had these two amazing bootleg 59 sunburst Les Pauls a friend of his had built. Brilliant instruments. We decided to add the Alnico pick-ups to update and customize the sound."

The 59s were made by the now deceased luthier Kris Derrig.  Kris had noted that in 1959 Les Paul's were assembled on a production line in Nashville.  He thought if he could find period material he could build a better guitar than Gibson.  Kris would buy old Gibsons from the period that weren't sunbursts and strip them down, dismantle them and rebuild them to his standard, finishing them as sunbursts.  At the time this was still economical as old LP's in the 80's weren't fetching the premium sort of prices you see today.

Kris made a total of 13 of them before he died.  Alan secured 2 of them, one of which he gave to Slash. The other he gave to his son, Corey. In or around 2000 Slash traded a number of his guitars for the second Derrig.

The '59 Derrig bootleg was used by Gibson to manufacture the recent limited edition re-issue , which says everything about the quality of the craftsmanship.

Information kindly confirmed by Alan Niven

I have no doubt that Beta and co have been good for Axl on some levels, particularly in the early days. Emotionally and from a family perspective they appear to have been great for him.

I just don't think their involvement in the business side of things is necessarily a good thing. It's often good to have someone that is removed from you emotionally that can tell you how it is, tell you what you don't wanna hear etc etc.  They can do this without worrying  about going home to you that night and dealing with the fallout, moods, tantrums etc. It's a clear separation of business and family.

I'm willing to bet the past managers haven't been able to do their job properly because of others interfering anyhow. Perhaps the failure of others was "assisted"to ensure this baton change was eventually effected.
