Its time for a reunion. With Ron leaving and Tommy possibly not too far behind since he could always do a reunion with the Mats why not just have  a reunion with Duff, Izzy and yes slash.

izzy doesnt even have to tour, just let him write and be on the album, and Fortus can be the touring guitarist.

While they write a classic Gnr album just release the rest of the CD stuff while we wait.

There is no point in getting a new guitar player and starting over again.  The current band hasn't even written songs together and its already been as long as it was from the 2002 tour to the CD albums release, as it is from the album release to now and there is still no new album in site.

DJ sucks anyways and never should have been hired.  At this point unless they can get BH back , they shouldn't even bother with a new new new guy.  Just do a reunion.

Buckethead yes. Izzy isn't reliable enough to do any kind of reunion sans a few shows. Slash will never, ever work. Even if they iron out their differences and agree to it in principle, you will have major conflicts over money, management (each wanting their own), all kinds of headaches over shows, start times, a lot of drama involving Perla and Beta. It's too much of a headache and I'd be happy for a one off show.

They need a new guitarist, imo.

Just be a studio band and do 5-10 stadium shows and call it a day. A studio band like they were during illusions. Let Slash run the sessions, send the stuff to Axl. Let him do his thing. Don't let Axl and Slash be around each other too much.

Would never happen. It would be easier being a touring band and that's an impossibility. Axl would veto about 99% of everything Slash would pitch and Slash would tank the other 1%. Nothing would ever get done. Putting Axl in a situation where he's in a studio trying to come up with new music, especially with people who would tell him no, and a guy who he really has nothing musically in common with anymore, is a really, really bad idea.

That is what they did during illusions. Maybe you want more CD style stuff?  That should be a one off experiment. I don't see much sustainability in those kinds of songs. GnR needs to return to riff rock, deep lyrics, and strong ballads. Slash will do UYI, he just isn't into Silkworms or Shackler type stuff. He ran the sessions for UYI and did all of Axl's shit then.

UYI was their swan song. End of story. CD style songs are what you're going to get.

It's a good post and I'd have agreed 100% - 5 years ago. But as it seems GN'R went back to the 80s-90s style. Look at the Vegas shows, their tours, their clothes - it's all AFD era. Their "new" covers could have been played by the old band.  Also, DJ and Fortus said that if they were to write new stuff today, it would be sleaze. So I guess musical differences may not be such a factor to block or ruin a reunion. All the other things you mentioned in your other post, would kill it, for sure.

Yeah CD style songs is what we are going to get yet 90% of the songs he plays live will be from AFD/UYI or a cover.

You would think if that is the direction he really wanted he would have had at least one more album out by now and would have been filtering out old GNR songs and adding in mostly new stuff
