I now believe him that its not about Slash. If it was....they wouldn't dare go there. The song may have just been a big fuck you to haters in general. There may be certain verses aimed in his general direction but not to the extent hardcores thought.
Its not that surprising anymore really. Hell, we're finding out he was never even opposed to a reunion all these years but the timing was never right.

They just kicked ten tons of ass on DTJ. THis song should have a permanent spot in the set list.
Estranged...unreal. He sounds better on this song than he did on the UYI tour. I guess not having meth drain down the back of his throat works wonders on this song.

It was never about Slash specifically, though. He said as much:
I've always thought it was a catch-all song directed at everyone who's held Axl back or told him to "just shut up and sing", from managers to the fans.
