i really can't complain about the lyrics tbh...some of the stuff is amazing..here are my favorite parts so far
the Blues

The line in IRS that seems so truly heartfelt. It goes something like this: "what should I do/If I/gave my heart to you." You can feel the pain in that one.
Also in The Blues. This one is so genuine.
"I don't know just what I should do

I like the lyrics a lot. I think those parts Neemo mentioned (except for Maddy and TWAT) are fantastic, and I think the whole of Chinese Democracy and Riyadh are underrated. The metaphors are pretty cool, if Riyadh seems like an underdeveloped song in the lyrical department.
The worst lyrics from newGNR are Silkworms and Song 2, imo.

I think so too Dave...VERY heartfelt, honest lyrics. The lyrics actually have gotten me in to the music. I think the song is tremendous. *ducks as tomatos and rotten fruit fly by his head*:haha: The vocals are also gorgeous. I love mid range Axl. Of course helium Axl comes out as well but it is good helium during those parts.:mosh:

Not to sound insulting but when I read things like that I wonder how you could be a fan of the band... to me it's so obvious that those lyrics are lame that I can't even give examples. It's all cheese, like a rehash of the worst of IRS The Blues and TWAT.
Seems like forever and a day - ugh. That right there already makes me feel embarrased to have clicked 'play'. It's so exposed and whiny, and such a tired cliche phrase... I just can't like it.

Commy that is a bit condescending, I don't see it that way at all.....and trust me, I am the opposite of cheesy and am WAY in to lyrics (pretty obvious when Bob Dylan is your favorite artist of all time). It is unbelievable how differently people see each track. It goes for Gnr's earlier catalog too. Everybody always has a different favorite song or lyric...I, like Dave, think that is a good thing. One man's garbage is another man's treasure.:rock:

Always been a fan of the lines:
"You know it's what you planned, this much is true,
What I thought was beautiful don't live inside of you, anymore..."
The Blues has great lyrics but the music itself hasn't stood the test of time in my opinion. I find it boring to listen to nowadays
