Re: Guns N Roses on Universal Music Group Release List

if there was a reunion I can't see them having Pitman or any of the new guys, everyone knows Slash wouldn't let anyone else play a solo.

Sorum should be out of the picture. That asshole rode Axl's success and then trashed the hell out of him as if he was in any position to be whining. Hey dipshit, you just made a shit ton of money off this guy's enormous success WHICH CAME BEFORE YOU SHOWED UP in GN'R, and then you turn around talking shit about him like you were there all along. Axl is an asshole, there is no doubt about it. But the last person I want to hear complaining about it is Matt Sorum, a dipshit who rode the gravy train and made a fuckload of money off of Axl.

Tommy is a rock n' roll star, he has the chops and attitude that would work with Duff and Slash.  Moreover, he is a great rhythm guitar player.  I am quite certain this will happen, and I believe that this idea has been floating around GN'R circles.  Azoff will deny it, and so will Axl, and Iovine, but one of the reasons he has been brought in, is to mediate a reunion, and figure out how to make that happen while delivering CD for Axl.  I think Izzy will be around like he was in 2006.  I heard Izzy was a big fan of Frank's drumming and style, and that is why he would be the drummer.  It easily could be someone else, but it is not going to be Brain or Sorum (I think Sorum is out of the picture).

No one will deny(well, not those looking at things realistically) that some sort of reunion scenario is on the table. The simple act of hiring Azoff proved this. He is basically nothing more than a cash register for reunions. Even "anti-reunionists" such as madagas would agree with this.

Will a reunion happen tomorrow? Probably not, but its clearly a long term strategy and the obvious "end game" to this mess.

Where we disagree is the simple semantics. I think its an "all or nothing" deal, and if the 87 lineup cant be reunited(paging Adler: throw down the crack pipe), a last resort would likely be a morphing of the 1991 lineup which was basically the height of the band's success.

Axl
Izzy (if not him, Gilby)
Slash
Duff
Dizzy
Adler(if not him, Sorum. If not him, someone new)

You're not going to see yes men from the CD era reap benefits from a potential billion dollar GNR reunion. I know certain fans have fantasies of Slash and Fortus sharing a stage and other assorted scenarios, but it just isn't feasible. They played no role in the band's success, and its in the best interest of Axl and the other members to just bring fresh blood into the equation if one or two 87-91 era members are not brought on board.

You're calling Stinson a "yes man"?  You may want to recalibrate.  Slash, Duff, and Izzy would likely welcome working with Stinson.  He is a bona-fide rock star, mega-talent, one in a milliion rebellious rocker in the vain of the original GNR.  If anyone from the current line-up works with the original guy's, only Stinson has the chops and respect to hold his weight.  I think, likely if he played with them, it would be out of necessity, as Izzy will not tour, but write.  I believe Tommy would be the 1st person Axl and Duff would want to tour if Izzy did not, and Slash would embrace Stinson as well, because he respects him.  Stinson, McKagan, Slash, Axl--that folks, is an incredible, in your fucking face rock band!  It would work, work well!

Calling him a yes man isn't any more out of place than calling him a rock star.

I previously stated that Stinson was the only CD era member that could realistically be involved, and even that is a stretch. I used a broad stroke with the yes men label.

Well, new GNR wont even promote a new song on whats possibly the biggest game for the last part of the year. We have new GNR members twiddling their thumbs while VR looks for a singer.

I'm actually surprised more reunion speculation doesn't happen.

Wow!  Talk about getting off subject!  With the direction this thread has taken it only proves my points.  NOBODY deep down believes CD is coming out this year.  And second CD ain't coming out this year.  What I'm waiting for now is what lameass excuse Axl will use this time.  Now that could be very entertaining.
