All right am asking for some your professional opinions.  Just bought Ice Age 3 for my daughter on Blu-Ray for Christmas.  Is there really a difference for cartoons on Blu Ray's?  Is it worth the extra money spent?  Thanks.

For animated stuff I guess there'd be a noticable difference. For 2D animated cartoons, I'm not so sure.

I personally think CGI cartoons would be good on HD cos they could make it straight from a digital master and not telecine from a film print. Although I don't know if that *is* what they do or not.

What is your display?

What its going to come down to is that BD is 1080p and dvd is 576 or 480 if you live in the usa.

So unless they fuck up the transfer or something, if you are watching on a high res display...BD will always be better. Of course if you have an upscaling dvd player or some other toys the margin can be slimmer.

Blu ray = 1080p normally, far above DVD quality......
