Guns N' Roses' UK Tour Dates Facing Axe

Guns N' Roses' long-awaited UK tour and festival appearances are in doubt after Axl Rose tweeted that all of the band's upcoming dates have been cancelled.

The group had been due to play their first British arena shows in four years, as well as headlining the Reading and Leeds festivals at the end of the month.

Their official website still lists the festival appearances among the upcoming shows on the band's Chinese Democracy World Tour.

October's gigs at London's O2 Arena, Birmingham's LG Arena and the Manchester MEN Arena also remain listed.

Axl Rose's tweet, sent at 10pm on Sunday (BST), read: "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds."

Organisers for the Reading and Leeds festivals, which will be held on August 27 to 29, told Sky News they are "looking into" Rose's comments.

"As soon as we've got news we'll put it out," a spokesperson said.

No official announcement has been issued and other members of the band are reported to have joined fans in shock at the tweet.

New guitarist Dj Ashba made no reference to the cancellation when tweeting a few hours later.

Instead he wrote: "Still in rapid city Buying guns with Axl, just bought me a smith & w. 44 snub nose!! America F%#k yeah!"

Since first posting in December 11 last year, Rose has used his verified Twitter account feed to update fans with news on upcoming shows and reflect on the band's appearances.

in fairness to Axlin08 he did say this, "As for the future of this band. Not much has changed by all of this really." which is probably a good way to summarize the madness of the last 18hours or so.

Legitimate news organizations shouldn't have to google fan forums looking for administrators who have email addresses of housekeepers.

They're going with what legitimate information they have(a tweet on Axl's official page, which hadn't been updated in a coon's age until yesterday).

Jeez horrible thought, I hope Axl didnt do himself in last night.

Otherwise on a happier note if it is just the mere cancellation of the tour, I wish they would just release a statement or something to clear it up. The longer it goes on the more their silence tells me that this isnt not a hoax. Seriously, if it was BS they would all be twitting have no fear and fernando would be on the forums making light of it.

Mostly you are correct there. They shouldn't have to search forums. They (GNR) give the fans the info, but neglect to inform the media. However, experience should tell them (media) that Twitter updates should be taken with a pinch of salt. I have seen many articles plastered in newspapers online doing a story based on a Twitter post, which two days later is reported as fake, false and hacked. Should think they would know it by now.

A case of not knowing what kind of power online communication got (ie Twitter, and Facebook). The management doesn't know the password to Axl's account obviously, and needs to track the man down and explain him the situation, then he have to give them access etc.
