There are rockers and there are rock stars.

Last night (March 3), Washington, D.C. got a little bit of the Sunset Strip when all-star band Camp Freddy rolled into town. Performing to a full house at the 9:30 Club, Camp Freddy packed the intimate venue with a mix of politicians and die-hard fans to help raise funds for Rivers of Recovery.

The illustrious "super band" combines the talents of front man Billy Morrison (Billy Idol, The Cult), guitarist Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers), drummer Matt Sorum (The Cult, Guns ‘N Roses, Velvet Revolver), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction) and Donovan Leitch. Ten years ago, they debuted their part-group/part-jam session concept that Rolling Stone has called “the future of rock and roll.” They’ve had success playing at Sundance, SXSW, and parties for Vanity Fair with surprise visits from the likes of Steven Tyler, Slash, Cypress Hill, and Ozzy Osbourne.

Last night was no different, with Billy Morrison channeling his inner "Rebel Yell" with Steve Stevens on guitar. The impressive guest list of onstage guests also included Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath, Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach, and Godsmack’s Sully Erna, who all took turns belting out covers from Pink Floyd to the Sex Pistols.

Camp Freddy’s show raised $70,000 dollars for Rivers of Recovery, a non-profit that helps disabled veterans with their rehabilitation, including those who suffer from PTSD.

Notable moments? Steve Stevens and "Married to Rock" wife, Josie Stevens, holding court inside the VIP, posing for fans. Josie was later spotted snapping photos of her hubby while he was on stage. We felt like we were inside the Viper Room watching a reserved Dave Navarro shredding away while his lit cigarette dangled from his guitar strings.

Last but not least, Mark McGrath’s thoughts about their private tour of the White House earlier that day: “The White House is pretty ____ cool, but it ain’t Charlie Sheen’s House.” The band hung out late night at POV on the W Hotel rooftop.
