"There's been some concern. That if we play five or six new songs, then there can't that many more on the album. Au contraire, mon frére. We're just playing the songs we're not considering putting out as singles or anything. So, you'll get 18 songs, and about 10 extra tracks. And when that, when the record company feels that has run its course, then you'll get it all over again. By that time, I should be done with the third album. So we'll see if all goes well boys and girls." (Axl, Docklands, 08/26/02)
Hey Brasky, this has probably been clarified somewhere else on this forum or another, so I apologize for bringing it up again. When Axl said "about 10 extra tracks", is it possible he was referring to the remixes they did for Better, Shacklers, OMG, This I Love, Blood In The Water, etc? I know there were more but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. I remember Brain and Melissa did something for Sorry at a sporting event too, and I think Brain said there were others. Maybe there were 10?
Hello my old friend, yes it's entirely possible. It's also possible that it was the songs off the cd 2 tracklist or other songs. It would be speculation on my part since i have never communicated or spoke with Skwerl. So idk.
I hope you're doing well bro and miss ya.

Bill Brasky wrote:Here's why i believe that. I love village session intro it just builds until it kicks in. Axl voice in my opinion is better in the mix and production on the village session demo then the reunion era copy and paste a mania version.
Both versions seem like they needed additional lines of vocals.
But that's my opinion.
Fair enough. To my ears, Slash and Duff took a fairly uninspired demo and turned into a GN'R song.
The guitars on the original have no grunt or character to them, which Slash improved with his additional licks, and Duff added some serious groove with his bass parts. But yeah, each to their own I guess. I guess we all have stuff we gravitate towards that we like.
It's actually a classic gnr era song it's Jackie Chan the one Duff spoke about in the Howard Stern interview in the mid 90's.
I imagine it orginally sounded much better back then.
Axl just copy and pasted his village sessions vocals and Slash and Duff with the band did the new instrumental.
I blame the mixing and the production and Axl not doing new vocals as to why i don't think it's as good as village sessions version.
Not Slash and Duff.
But we are all entitled to like what we like.

It's possible but highly unlikely that Axl was talking about CD remixes in 2002. I don't think Brain did those remixes til at least 2007-2009 anyway.
I believe 2007 in Vegas was when they were done. Good point btw.

“When I left there was two lists. There's the master list, like, "Here's the 20 songs we're concentrating
on." And there was a B list, "And here's the other 20 songs that if we get to him one day or finish him
one day, we'll see what happens." For the 20 songs, I had three or four songs, or for the 16, I had three
or four songs that were in the running. And so, like, that's pretty cool (Freese I'd Hit That podcast,
April 2013)
“Most of the stronger songs that ended up on A-lists when I was there were huge rock songs, built for
the masses, really guitar-driven.(Fink Wall of Sound, May 24, 2000)
Obviously those comments don't mean that the locker paperwork represents one of those lists for sure but it's possible.
More importantly Freese's observations about there being a master list and a B list pre date Brains involvement in the remixes.
This is from memory tbf but Axl mentioned OMG remix in the forum chats in 2008 and Sean Beresford mixed that awful Club Mix for Shacklers in (i think) Christmas 2007. One of the Better remixes was heard at an aftershow party in 2010, not at the club where The General VIP clip came from, that was later on. Anyway the point is the remixes were made years after Zoot and Freese's involvement, so if there was a print out of an A list in one of the lockers then I doubt those remixes are on it

I just checked some old research to see if I remembered the timeline correctly the following come's from that...
Shacklers Revenge - Club Mix - Mixed By Sean Beresford.
December 2007
Brain: Axl is really interested in having everybody bring what they do into the picture. I just did a remix of
"Shackler’s,” - made it kind of more club. And I think he wants to put out a remix album of some of the other
songs we did. http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/arti … icleid=175
My friend Brain is the drummer for Guns N' Roses (he also used to be the drummer for Primus). He wrote
two of the songs on the new Guns N' Roses record 'Chinese Democracy" released late last year.
He and his musical collaborator Melissa Reese worked up a hip hop/club version of the song 'Shackler's
Revenge" with programmed beats and additional loops and cool sounds. They asked me to mix it. I've been
chipping away at it for a few weeks over the Christmas holidays and finally I think it is done. I'm quite happy
with how it turned out, it is pretty wacky though! (later, sometime in February) Brain called to say that Axl
Rose finally heard the remix and really likes it. Yay!.. (Sean Beresford Sunday,January, 2009)
The remix actually was posted on Sean's profile page for a short time before being removed.

If that interview with Sean was in January 2009 and Brain called him in February then it follows that Brain
and Mellisa Reese made the remix in December 2007. Which proves that at least this remix actually pre
dated Chinese Democracy's release, although as I say they certainly were not around in Tom zutauts day

Of course, i think with all the jumping around things got lost in translation. @evader was referring to the 10 extra tracks i assumed he was talking about Skwerl's qoute i just posted it on bad apples in the the definitive Chinese Democracy era unreleased songs thread on Monday
The qoute
"I was informed by a friend i trust 100% and was around all this shit back in the day the 2nd 10 disc cd that didn't leak with the Antiquiet 9 songs not counting the other version of Better (lets assume Bumblefoot's version) Skwerl mentioned in the article was being hoarded and sold back in 2008 and came very close to leaking but the legal trouble Skwerl was in gave the individuals cold feet." - Skwerl

My apologies @evader i misinterpreted your post bro. My mistake.
