Bad choice for a first single.  Some will not make it to the part where the music kicks in...they will be at another station.  Others will be listening for the hook that isn't there.  There's nothing catchy, nothing to sing along to...there's just nothing.  Welcome to SBQM II.  Choosing this over Better was a fatal mistake.

I can only assume your opinion is backed by countless research, demographics, etc?

If you want to prove me wrong, be my guest.  I stand by what I said, and supposed initial responses aside, 1 day does not a good decision make.  40 seconds of nothing to start the song?  Yeah, that isn't going to work.  I bet it's gone to radio edit hell very, very soon.

The song is bad.  No, not just bad, terrible.  Boring, simple, not creative, not catchy, not a song that is going to bring new listeners in.  It's a song that will keep BH fans happy and keep the few GnR fans that obsess over the new band interested.  Period.  So a few internet fans got all geeked up to hear the song at the announced time and claim to love it to radio stations...there's a big surprise. roll

Give it time.  Let's see how many people love it in a week, or better yet, how many people love it enough to buy an album because of it.  Eventually the internet geeks will stop calling in and we'll get the real story.  If I'm wrong then, I'll be the first to admit it.  I know some people that were excited when SBQM came out...

Glad you knew that cos I didn't.  It seems rather high quality as well!:mosh:

Re: Guns N' Roses to release Chinese Democracy single

I know that some worry about the quality of it, but remember that it's just a radio stream - that's why it may sound a bit busy at times.

The actual CD version will be miles ahead of this as far as sound quality goes.

I agree somewhat although I think it will be a moderate success. Like I said earlier in the thread, they should send out Better a week to two weeks before release as well.

After the first few plays they'll cut out the intro & talking part so that's not relevent. I agree Better would have been great too, but CD adds in the name recognition. "Chinese Democracy", alot of people have heard the term & waited for it.

Should have released it back with an Olympics tie in though.

Yeah, it's a 192kpbs mp3. I'm at work so I can't really turn it up and listen for the subtleties, but it sounds pretty good from what I hear.
