^ I agree, so far the positive reviews in the media far outweigh the bad. Which if I'm honest I wasn't expecting but it's good to see nonetheless.

Anybody run their cursor over the CD cover pic on the music player? It comes up with a smaller pic and says 'Chinese Democracy release date 10/10/2009'! Less than a year to wait guys, whoo!

Interesting theory sic. could well be, although I'm more inclined to think this song is directed at certain people than Axl vs his inner demon(s). One of the reasons I wonder about it being directed at specific people is that 'I don't want to do it' line. It's undoubtedly sung in a different voice to the rest of the track and I think it's deliberate, I think he was aiming for a spanish foreign type voice. My personal thought is that perhaps it's what someone specifically said to him once (spanish sounding voice...Beta anyone?) or he said it to someone in that accent and he's used it in the track. I'm betting there's at least one person out there who got that particular line more than we maybe ever will.
I really hope Axl opens up about these songs, the sooner the better, I'd really like to know what they're all about from his point of view and what he intended with each one. It'll be a fascinating read.
It is sensational though, I'm glad a true A grade track remained unleaked until now.

Was that on iTV? I watched the whole game but went out of the room for about 2 minutes in the ads!
Yep, it played during the first ad break after the half time whistle.

They played this ad during the half time of the England v Germany football match tonight. Pretty awesome ad imo, I love the humour in it too 'brief intermission'

This ad will have been seen by millions of people too, the England Germany came is likely to be the most watched thing on tv this week so all in all great promo.

Chinese Democracy
Guns N' Roses
Grunge. Techno. Boy bands. Both President Bushes. These are just a few of the things Guns N' Roses has improbably outlasted in the 17 (!) years since its last album of original music. Almost ever since, lone original member Axl Rose has been working on "Chinese Democracy," which reached mythic status as the album many thought would never materialize. Lo and behold, here it is (as a Best Buy exclusive, no less).
Apparently to make up for lost time, the set is frontloaded with huge-sounding, heavily produced rockers coated in an ultra-modern sheen that contrasts starkly with the stripped-down, freewheeling material of GNR's glory days. Tracks like "Riad N' the Bedouins" have "Appetite for Destruction" bones but exoskeletons dipped in chrome. Rose eventually backs off and lets the songs breathe, with promising results. "Scraped" is a riffy monster in the vein of "Mr. Brownstone"; "Catcher in the Rye" is pure, major-key classic rock; and "This I Love" is a grandiose ballad you can picture Rose playing with a candelabra on the piano lid.
The artist is in fine, ever-changing voice throughout, and there's certainly a ton of musical food for thought here, requiring several listens before the nuances are revealed. Worth the wait? Maybe. Worth a few hours of your time? Definitely. -- Jonathan Cohen

I don't see Better flopping at all. I've been playing Better from a few years now in the various clubs I've dj'd in. From you stanky pubs to real dance clubs I've managed to get it on and it's alwasys managed to geta reaction which far more often than not was positive. More than anything I'd get people coming up to ask about it. I have played Chinese Democracy here and there and the song basically gets a blind eye(deaf ear) turned to it. Better will do really well especially with Axl's classic voice being used. I really think people will eat this song up but after that I don't see them having any other song that will have any real substantial success as a single. If I were to pick a 3rd single I'd say If The World would be the one. Just my opinion though.
You're right there, I haven't heard the 3 new tracks but I think Better's the track to carry this album. If this song isn't a hit none of them will be.
As for a third single, from what I've heard I'd say Prostitute or maybe even Madagascar?

About halfway down the page on the right hand side. Click the video box to activate it, then click the video link. There's a live montage with Better and two awesome CD commercials. The longer of the two commercials says CD featuring tracks 'CD' and Better.
It's the montage that's really interesting, I'd love to see what else Lush productions has in their vault.
