#11 Re: Guns N' Roses » How hard is it to leak a song? » 815 weeks ago
I don't "know" by any means.
But I think the main difference is that most leaks are from albums that are about to come out. Finished, discs pressed, just sitting on a shelf waiting to come out. The GNR leaks were of songs still being worked on, which is much more rare.
Yeah I know what you are saying there, but what Im saying is that there are people that have songs and are scared to leak them. But I just think that people make leaking a song way too dramatic.
I mean shit, whole prerelease albums have leaked before...Like Nas I am... Bone thugs Art of War..etc...
I know there is a difference in a finished chinese democracy sitting in a best buy in anytown, usa and an unfinished song on axls laptop, but im saying you had the guy who leaked the 16 secs of checkmate aka the general...If he really wanted it to leak he couldve just uploaded it somewhere, washed his hands of it..and noone wouldve known.
I just think that people want "fame" from leaking axls material...but they dont wanna get in trouble for doing so....Its really stupid if you think about it.

I always wondered why songs by all other artists just would get leaked and we wouldnt ever wonder how it got leaked.
But with GNR we have always just accepted that there is so much work that has to go into a song getting leaked, we hear about people having songs but being scared to leak them in fear of getting caught.
Last time I checked couldnt you just get some free wifi, open up limewire, and oops...guess what..I just leaked (insert random gnr song title here).
Its just always been this twisted road of.."well this guy in some other country has this song and msl told him that he would buy him a guitar if he got a song...then msl gives the song to this guy who has his friend leaks the song".
Why have we always accepted that its sooo hard to leak a gnr song...I think if someone really wanted songs to leak...they could just put em in a zipfile and upload to random site and off ya go.
#13 Re: Guns N' Roses » Rapidfire Recordings for sale (5 Unreleased Axl Demos from 1983) » 824 weeks ago
I have no interest. Quality is probably terrible. Even GNR's unreleased demos, in lots of cases, were downright terrible quality.
I've always wondered if Axl's holding on to studio-quality copies of some of those, but I want to say it was Slash and/or Duff, that said alot of that stuff just vanished into the bootleg world.
I agree 100%, I wouldnt pay shit for those songs. When/If they get released im sure people will not be too fond of them.
Like you said, I can barely stand any of the gnr demos. So I highly doubt some bullshit little record from 83 is gonna be any better.

BUT, the question should be "how far would you drive to hear new material?". Because if I knew I would be hearing "the general,atlas,seven"....stuff like that, Id probably go as far to catch a plane.
But with how quickly new material that gnr performed at past concerts got remastered and leaked to the internet, I highly doubt that Axl will ever do new songs again live before releasing on an album.
No offense, but if you're basing your decision on footage you've seen on youtube that's not the most effective means of decision making. It's not exactly the same as being there in person. If you can sit through GNR playing WTTJ, PC, SOD, or Better and not have a good time I'd be quite surprised.
I drove almost 2 hours to MSG last tour. I may stretch it out a little more than that. I have a friend in DC who's a big Weezer fan. I told him if GNR ever toured with Weezer (unlikely) that I'd go to a show with him. I'd say the 2 hour radius is more likely though.
Not just from youtube but from what ive seen other people post on various gnr forums. Which yes, maybe I should see for myself. But im glad you brought this up, because I probably would not catch a flight to see gnr. The more I thought about it, I would probably end up getting so pissed if Axl did a no show. And the thing is maybe its just me, but Axl seems to be so out of breath anymore, its kinda sad.
Maybe I would have a good time, but I could probably have just as good a time listening to cd with some good friends. But thats just me.
I try to base all major life decisions on youtube and message boards.

I've been listening to Prostitute a lot lately. It's a great song.
The outro is a perfect closure to Chinese Democracy.
I completely agree, great last track for CD. And since I got to hear the RB stripped down versions of it I can really hear everything that is going on within the song. Great song.

Im waiting to see "uzisuicidal has made a copyright claim", that loser does it with every rare gnr video.
#18 Re: Guns N' Roses » The 'Lost' GNR Album from '96 » 825 weeks ago
While I'm in here I've just got to say...
Axl's screams and Slash's solos in Sympathy For The Devil are fucking ace.
ronartest2004 wrote:So I doubt that TIL wouldve even been on the lost album
He did say, in an interview back in 1994, that he had recorded a new song called This I Love that he wanted to put on the new record.
Ill try to dig up where axl said something about the song, and him not finishing it until he got with the new band. Im really thinking he had the piano melody, but no lyrics. So maybe it couldve just been like a piano interlude on the 96 album. But with everything ive gathered I dont think Axl did any new material vocals during that point.
#19 Re: Guns N' Roses » The 'Lost' GNR Album from '96 » 825 weeks ago
I wouldn't glorify the possibility of such an album. This I Love would have been horribly out-dated in 1996. It would just be "great...another November Rain overproduced ballad about lost love and emo feelings".
It would have been great to see it, but it would not have sold that much. Maybe a bit more than what Spaghetti sold to take a wild guess.
I agree with you, Im glad that the album wasnt released then. If you go and look at the music that was topping the rock charts at that time (94-96) it was a complete 180 of what gnr was/is.
And hasnt it been pretty well documented that Axl couldnt/didnt write any lyrics during that time?. Ive heard that they had pleanty of "melodies" but no lyrics. And the few that would ask Axl about lyrics would be quickly dismissed from working on the album, I think the only person that got a straight response from Axl was Zakk Wylde to which Axl told Zakk something like "dude, if I were to write anything it would be about all of these lawyers and the lawsuits people have against me".
Axl even said that TIL was just a piano melody untill the "nugnr" guys talked him into finishing the song. So I doubt that TIL wouldve even been on the lost album, and didnt Matt say "no ballads, just 12 rock n roll songs", or something like that?. I'd say that TIL is a ballad.

Journalist - At the moment, what kind of woman for Rose?
Fernando - He is not seeking women. His attention is focused on the new album. He does not want any distractions. Usually stare at a few women, but no runs after.
That's disturbing. Sounds like they're all big cock blocks. Maybe this means: Women = Threat to his and mommy's positions.
Um yeah. I'm gonna have to go ahead and sort of... agree with you there.
The more this thing drags on the more Elvis=MJ=Axl for me.
I agree a 100%, usually you get attacked and/or banned on any other board for saying something negative about Beta. But ive always thought that beta/fernando...but more so Beta is the reason why things are the way they are. If they lose Axl,they lose everything. You hear stories about her not telling Axl that certain people called him, So I think that she knows that certain people that could have an impact on Axl are denied access.
And with Axls state of mind he will defend her/fernando to the end, which is kinda sad,but its what makes axl happy.
