#201 Re: Guns N' Roses » melissa & brain perform sorry remix at nba halftime show » 441 weeks ago
hell yeah! i was really hoping they would make this a thing and do more performances.
if this continues, we may actually get to hear more of the this i love remix. its hip-hop feel would lend well to an nba halftime show.
the end of if the world sounded differently than the last time we heard them do it. sounded like some bucket samples in there towards the end! with brain still being close to the guns camp, it's a bit strange to me that he hasn't been able to mend the relationship between axl and bucket... i mean, feelings were definitely hurt on both sides, but it was all just a big misunderstanding, really. i don't see him ever coming back in any sort of capacity, but it'd be cool if they could at least make peace at this point, especially considering bucket's health problems.
anywho, i'd love to see brain & melissa make this a formal thing and do some sort of tour. i'd buy a ticket in an instant.

badass version of chinese democracy! the layered vocals with axl, melissa and duff sound amazing. crazy how that song has become one of the freshest sounding tunes on this tour. others on the board have said it as well, but it really is the song to listen to from each show.
also -- that intro to better is so fuckin' killer. i know it's just the riff from the bridge, but it gets me hyped up every time. i lost my damn mind both times i heard them do that part live.

From memory the dvd had footage of Vai and Bucket recording as a bonus feature too.
hell yeah, that's some badass footage!
it'd be great to see bucket get back into writing music for movies. he's another guy i'd love to see do a full score.

picked up the ghost of mars soundtrack on cd recently.
good soundtrack to an awful movie, featuring the guitar works of robin finck and buckethead on half the tracks.
1. "Ghosts of Mars" Steve Vai, Bucket Baker 3:42
2. "Love Siege" Anthrax, Buckethead, Robin Finck 4:37
3. "Fight Train" Anthrax. Robin Finck 3:16
4. "Visions of Earth" Elliot Easton 4:08
5. "Slashing Void" Elliot Easton 2:46
6. "Kick Ass" Anthrax, Buckethead 6:06
7. "Power Station" Anthrax, Robin Finck 4:37
8. "Can't Let You Go" Stone, Bruce Robb, Joe Robb 2:18
9. "Dismemberment Blues" Stone, Elliot Easton 2:53
10. "Fightin' Mad" Buckethead 2:41
11. "Pam Grier's Head" Anthrax, Elliot Easton 2:35
12. "Ghost Poppin'" Anthrax, Steve Vai, Robin Finck
i've always been a big fan of love siege -- pretty cool song in more ways than one. with this track, john carpenter manged to do the unthinkable: unite buckethead and robin finck on the same song and release it. in 2001, nonetheless!
as soon as you open up the booklet, there's a quote from the man himself:
In essence, the score for Ghost of Mars is techno-inspired as well as drenched in heavy metal.
haven't i heard that somewhere else before?
"kick ass" is like a mutated version of bucket's "night of the slunks" that derails into the depths of hell, thanks to a backing onslaught from anthrax.
funny tidbit from one of the reviews linked on the soundtrack's wikipedia page:
For the Ghosts of Mars soundtrack, Carpenter rounded together a great group of metal guitarists - underground fave Buckethead, NIN's Robin Finck, Anthrax's Scott Ian, soloist Steve Vai, and Elliot Easton. When you have a group like that, you're not going to let their efforts go to waste or remain unheard.

we might get some cool new chinese democracy sweaters at least!
#206 Re: Guns N' Roses » November 23, 2008: Guns N 'Roses released the album Chinese Democracy » 442 weeks ago
chinese democracy is a great album, but i'd rather talk about it than listen to it.
buckethead's parts are the best are my favorite thing about it.
next year this time is its 10 year anniversary, so it's our last big chance for the big ol' deluxe edition.
give us the remixes, atlas shrugged and the general w/ slash and we'll all finally shut the hell up.

looks like it's delayed until spring of next year. maybe axl rubbed off on bucket more than we thought.
looks like it's not actually the full bucketheadland 3 album people were speculating.
pretty dope artwork though:

in other news, every pike is now available in digital form for just $2! you can download the entire pike discography for $215:
http://music.bucketheadpikes.com/
it's a limited time offer that expires on dec 1st.
#208 Re: Guns N' Roses » the Chinese Democracy you've never seen » 442 weeks ago
i have 2 red hand cds, one is signed by axl, richard, and tommy; the other is unsigned.
when i met tommy and had him sign the booklet for me, he was taken aback by it. he flipped through the booklet and looked at every piece of art and had a huge smile on his face the whole time. i told him how much i wish this had been released officially and he said i was not the only one.
did axl have a reaction to the red hand cd?
#209 Re: Guns N' Roses » LEAKS THREAD » 443 weeks ago
axl was calling bucket up until hours before the first hammerstein show in '06.
it really is a shame that merck's dumbass sabotaged bucket's relationship with the band. if axl and bucket communicated directly, things would have been a whole hell of a lot different.
axl's press release blaming bucket for everything was so disgusting. it makes my stomach hurt every time i read it. axl was so delusional. did he really think that bucket joined the band just to get a record deal?
During his tenure with the band Buckethead has been inconsistent and erratic in both his behavior and commitment - despite being under contract - creating uncertainty and confusion and making it virtually impossible to move forward with recording, rehearsals and live plans with confidence. His transient lifestyle has made it impossible for even his closest friends to have nearly any form of communication with him whatsoever.
projecting much, axl?
According to those who have actually spoken with Buckethead it appears his plans were to secure a recording contract with Sanctuary Records which I encouraged my management to make available to him, quit GN'R and to use his involvement in the upcoming Guns release to immediately promote his individual efforts...Nice guy!

We greatly appreciate Bucket's contributions and remain open to "discussions" as there are obviously several issues to resolve. In the meantime rather than dwelling on the negative, Guns will be moving forward and surprisingly (without giving away any details) this unfortunate set of circumstances may have given us the opportunity to take our recording that one extra step further
whatever you say, big guy.
i bet bucket was really, really hurt by this press release. he got publicly trashed by a guy he considered a hero.
but whatever -- axl doesn't deserve buckethead.
part of me thinks that bucket is so prolific as a big "fuck you" to axl. while recording his parts on the album, bucket dropped like 6 solo albums. since chinese democracy has been released, bucket's released over 280 (!) original studio records.
crazy shit.

yeah, the band kicked ass in that show. bucket losing his mind on guitar as the confetti poured down was truly a sight to see...
hopefully the instrumental version of the VMAs leaks at some point.
