Cornell.. yeah im not anexpert on his catalog cause the stuff I've heard i didn't like..so i tend to not waste a lot of time on stuff i dont like.
i put him in the Bono category.. he has something to his voice that just is nails onchalkboard for me.. i can't listen.

I agree about the album being recorded bad.. Slash mentioned how he didn't like theway the guitars were recorded.
CB really hit me once i saw them live and u got to see how much that shit really kicks ass.
CB still does it for me when i run or workout..it gets the adrenaline and blood pumping.

Cornell is like Myles Kennedy... great voice etc, i can see why people like him but neither do anything for me... I don't feel anything when they sing... it just feels like the same song over and over and over..
With Axl.. he just has a way of touching the bottom depths of your soul with his voice
of course TIL is terrible lyrically, but Axl with his voice and emotion makes it work. same withTWAT
on paper,sure, Cornell is deeper and uses fancier words.. but sometimes simple is better.
There are two people i love every song they've ever done and that is Axl and Jon Bon Jovi.. both have a way with melodies and song crafting that makes whatever they do awesome.

U have the opening piano soft Axl vocal.. then after the piano interlude u have fire with the vocals, guitar solos etc.

With Prostitute it did match the description of "fire and ice" that was given. And their were orcastra arrangements which was said too be on it and he did say the word people just didn't want to hear it. I never understood that nightrain meets moby.. what the fuck would that even sound like and why would people wanna hear it?
how is Prostitute Fire and Ice?
Its pretty much the same thing the entire song

This Cornell is better than Axl thing is ridiculous
Axl has a way more diverse voice... he had like 3 or 4 different voices.. Cornell has the same tired vocal melody etc and lets don't even get started on lyrics
Love how people talk about Izzy as if he is God but slag on Slash for his "post" GNR work when Slash won a fucking grammy and made a kick ass great album in CB.. wtf has Izzy done since 91?
Axl made a great record cause it is easier to find drummers,guitar players,bassist etc than it is to find a great vocalist,lyricist.
Contraband destroys CD in the Rock dept.
the other thing that pisses me off and i find to be the most retarded statement of all time is that Slash has done nothing since GNR therefore that somehow damages his legacy or importance to GNR...

still don't think Track 2 was Prostitute! LOL!
well in people's defense, as stated, if u listen to the description of "Prostitute" it didn't really fit what we heard on track 2
also, TIL was the "heaviest" song Axl ever wrote... I guess he meant emotionally on himself. I was expecting something else with that as well.
