Duff is still Duff and please don't short sell the relationship Duff and Slash have. The big 3 were Axl, Duff, and Slash.  It became Axl vs. Duff and Slash.

Total myth that it went straight to Axl vs. Duff and Slash after Slash left.

K!: How come?
G: "Well, it's an Axl thing. He just wasn't into what we were doing, so he's kind of rethinking what he wants to do. He just kind of threw a wrench into everything that me, Slash and Matt had worked to. And then Duff came in.
"Duff and Axl have an idea what the album should be, and the rest of us have another idea. So right now, we're not gonna do anything. And anyway, from July to the end of the year, I'm not gonna be available, because I'm gonna be working on my record.

No one really seems to think much of it, but the fact is Duff (dead years or not) obviously thought at one point for a few years, him and Axl could get by in a Slash-less Guns.

Talking about "myths"...a few years? Slash left in late 1996 and Duff left in August, 1997. It wasn't even a year. He also stated that he only remained cause he thought Slash could come back and they could continue together again. The revisionism here is fascinating and hit a new Axlist low in the past days.

Mikka. Grow up. All you do is bitch and  moan about things that happened over 20 years ago. If you're that unhappy go join a board board for a different band and stop turning every little detail into a personal attack.

More. Excellent. News. I for one heartily look forward to the barrage of irrational vitriol towards this news on the board and more specifically in this very thread.
But. Not as much as I'm looking forward to catching a show if the GNR+Duff tour should extend a little further.

Good to see GNR back on a stage again. That is a mammoth set list. Absolutely huge. Axl is looking in very good shape physically hasn't looked that well since 06. Between the new tour the rumblings about a 2014 release for a new album, the release of the Concert Movie and Axl's long overdue Golden Gods award things are looking great for GNR fans.

Numerous Rolling Stones Covers that have continued with the new band.
Dead flowers and Used to Lover here are practically the same song.

Bumblefoot should be saying this shit to Axl in a one on one conversation, not shouting it across the internet, and if he doesnt get the answers he's looking for then its time to make a decision and stick by it, stay or go.

The only was I could see Bucket returning to a work environment where he was miserable, unpopular, bullied and stifled is if he was offered a humungous six figure sum upfront.
Even then, would all the money in the world be enough for Buckethead to join a band where DJ Ashba has most of the leads? It was bad enough watching Bucket standing filing his nails while Robin got all the best parts to play.

Honestly I think the biggest problem would be Stinson. IIRC Stinson gave Bucket a hard time when he was in the band, and I get the feeling that if Bucket returned, Stinson would have to go. That would create a serious problem, since although there's a perception that any mug could play the bass ("Just ask Duff back!"), Stinson is the guy who organises all the ground-level band stuff like rehearsals.

Frank would probably get the boot too, in favour of Brain (didn't Bucket make it a requirement of his initial hiring that Brain came on board?). So with Bumble, Frank and Stinson out, that would mean a fundamental reconfiguring of the band. Honestly, with all those comings and goings, I wouldn't be surprised if Fortus threw in the towel at that point.

So yes, it's massively unlikely that Bucket would return. Ironically, the one person who I suspect wouldn't cause any problems is Ashba; he and Bucket have mutual interests (horror films and spooky stuff!), they both seem to connect with Axl on a personal level, and what with Ashba being part of an anti-bullying charity I doubt he'd have time for the shenanigans that allegedly drove Bucket out of the band in the first place.

And half of Ashba's Chinese Democracy live solos are Buckethead ones anyway (Sorry, If The World); between the Bumblefoot shred stuff that Bucket would naturally take on, and the Chinese Democracy solos that he originally recorded, I don't think he'd be standing around as much as in 2002.

Excellent post. I have to agree there on Ashba with regards to the bullying bs and whatnot.
Was unaware that bucket and tommy calshed

#279 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR Name Contract (w/ MSL/snooze72 scans) » 649 weeks ago

We are reading this contract because AXL okayed it. This is the best press he has had in years. It proves that SLash and Duff are lying about when, where and why they signed the contract.

MSL wrote:

While Duff claimed it was a show in 1993 and Slash claimed it was a show in 1992, their stories have the following in common:

• Both claim they signed backstage at a Guns N' Roses concert.

• Both claim they signed the same day.

• Both claim they signed because they feared Axl would refuse to take the stage that night.

This contract proves that they were not backstage at a concert as they were on a break from the tour at the time and that they did not sign the same day.

All 3 points are gone.

Downloaded the video bro. Very cool production on both this and the album itself. Hope everything is going alright with Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Definitely agree on your points. I do love artists like NIN that do the free album or music thing every once in awhile. Think it's amazing and shows love for their fans despite not working well for an indie label. I adore Spotify for the most part and interesting to hear a brief analysis on why it doesn't fully pay off for the music industry. For the music I make, I want to add art or something else to it to display progress or illustrate a song so to speak.

I guess I'll post my own tunes as well to promote myself: http://mewisemagic.bandcamp.com/

Your stuff too man. Very well put together. Album is definitely worth a download!
