Sebastian's former bandmates are fucking idiots if they flush their chance down the drain to open for GN'R this summer because of some petty squabble with Bach.
Some Skid Row fans have speculated over the years that it may not be petty but instead is something very personal....such as Baz having an affair with a gf/spouse or vice versa. People started wondering this back when Baz basically became the band's permanent opener 10 years ago. Skid Row had a huge reason to make up with Baz back then as well...their career was burnt toast. Baz was open to it....he still is. Now more than ever. They wont budge.
Awhile back a reunited Skid Row were offered a major slot at some Euro festival for a nice chunk of change. Skid Row declined and Baz was livid. If they wont do it now then it will never happen. You can pretty much guarantee its either been offered or will be offered and GNR using The Cult as openers and wheeling Baz out in vegas shows that to be the case.
Plenty of people wondered if Slash fucked Stephanie back in the day considering how much Axl hated him at one point. If those guys can bury the hatchet, Skid Row should be able to as well.

Vicky Hamilton: Steven has such a sweet spirit to him, when I managed the band he wasn't like messed up on drugs at all. He smoked a little pot...he was kind of the California surfer boy of the band. Always this beaming light of optimism no matter what was going on, he was like there and ready to go.
Oh please. Adler himself admits all he cared about since birth was drugs and girls. Lets not pretend he was a choir boy that smoked a joint once in a blue moon. While he probably wasn't a heroin addict in that early phase of their career, she's going a bit too far with the revisionist history. This attitude does not help junkies I can assure you.
What has happened recently, I don't know any of the details. I reached out to him yesterday and I haven't heard back.
This does not sound good. I really hope he's ok. Out of all the GNR members I relate to Adler the most. He let drugs consume his life and is trying to pull his shit together before its too late.

Word on the street is that he had Aids.... Rumor is also that when he became ultra religious he believed he was cured (the cocktails make the disease undetectable in his system) so he stopped taking the drugs.... Not saying this is the cause of death, but, this may be true.
So the drug overdose reporting is a big cover-up? TMZ even obtained the audio of the airplane pilot talking to air traffic control begging them to have medical people waiting on the ground for the plane because of a huge emergency with one of the people on the plane. Supposedly he received the revival shot right after the plane landed.
Now it's also possible both things are true (AIDS and pain pills). He did have hip surgery and he likely did have prescription pill dependency. AIDS would just make all of that more dangerous for him.

Were Skid Row big in the states? Growing up here I knew more about Skid Row from Bach on TV shows talking about other bands than their actual music.
Debut album went to #6 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. "18 and Life" went to #11 on the pop singles chart and "I Remember You" went to #6 on the pop singles chart. The album sold 5 million copies in America, which is huge. GN'R Lies sold the same amount to give perspective. Not many hair metal acts managed to go 5 times platinum with a single album. Motley Crew's most successful album Dr. Feelgood "only" sold 6 million and Appetite sold 18 million to give full perspective. Skid Row's second album Slave to the Grind debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and sold 2 million copies in America.
Beyond their success with actual music, Skid Row's biggest claim to fame is that Sebastian Bach is one of the very few musicians who managed to gain Axl's trust. Regarding SCOM's inclusion on Appetite, I think I remember reading somewhere that they felt it was the better fit than other ballads due to how fast-paced it is. Kinda like Think About You, though that one is a ballad in name only when you realize Izzy wrote it about heroin instead of a girl.

Damn, those Bucket solos actually make me sad. He might have been at his peak during those years in GNR, and it was totally wasted. Great stuff though.

It really shows how strong their discography is when they can rotate major hits like Don't Cry and Patience.
That's what I was saying the other day when I looked at the recent Rolling Stones setlist from the same Mexico City stadium. Almost the entire Stones list is the Hot Rocks album with all their hits from the 60's and early 70's. It's almost like everything they've done since is completely irrelevant. This is where GN'R benefits. They basically disappeared for 20 years and it doesn't even fucking matter. The Stones kept making music since the early 70's and no one gives a shit about 99% of it.
I'm not even talking about the download list here, but the quality list: GN'R Top 30 best songs (which includes deep cut stuff like Coma, Locomotive, 14 Years, Breakdown) compare very well with anyone in rock...which is amazing given their reputation as a band that wasn't around very long. This is where it pays off big time for them now on this tour and going forward. Their songs are timeless and 20 years from now if they are still touring, no one will give a shit about Chinese or anything else in the next 20 years. It will be all about those amazing songs written between 1985 and 1991.
Don't Cry will always be one of my favorite GN'R songs for several reasons: it's their very first song together, Axl's vocals are friggin amazing in those early Sunset Strip bootlegs, and Slash's guitar is beautiful. The below video from 1986 pretty much sums up why I love that song so much, a band that was completely ignored on stage and 5 years later the song is Top 10 on the pop charts. You cannot get a better testament to just how unknown they were and how quickly they blew up than this video.

But it seems based on that download list: Used to Love Her, Patience, and Don't Cry are all getting the short shaft. They should be staples, not alternates. Once you include duplicates, Patience appears at #8 and #12. There is an argument to be made it's the "true" #5 ahead of Heaven's Door (which is at #5 and #21).
Don't Cry is not as high on the download list as you might expect, but it has a crazy amount of YouTube views: 251 million. Only thing bigger than that is Sweet Child (north of 420 million) and November Rain (north of 600 million). I believe there was speculation for many years Axl didn't want to play it due to Shannon Hoon's death. He went many years with nu-Guns not playing it and then at one of the gigs Ron played it as a guitar solo with no vocals. I remember the forums made a big deal when Axl finally started joining in on that one in later gigs.

The Skid Row thing is just bizarre. You see that crowd in Mexico City back to back nights and wonder who the hell would turn down a chance to play in front of that? Amazing experience, especially for dudes in their 50's who should be retired or playing small bars.

When you include duplicates of stuff like Jungle/Child/Patience and so forth, the Illusion deep cut masterpieces are way the fuck down the list: 14 Years, Dust N' Bones, Pretty Tied Up, Locomotive, Breakdown all rank in the 50's. Coma is in the 130's but only because you aren't allowed to download it without buying the whole album. Double Talking Jive, The Garden, Bad Obsession, Perfect Crime all rank in the 60's to 80's. Kick in the nuts when you see Knocking on Heaven's Door repeated on the list numerous times before any of those show up. There's the Greatest Hits version (#5), the UYI2 version (#21), Live Era clean version (#49), Live Era explicit version (#50).
