WR Booker headed back to Bears
By Vaughn McClure | Tribune staff reporter
11:01 PM CST, March 4, 2008
Desperate for help at receiver, the Bears turned to an old friend, signing Marty Booker to a two-year deal.
Booker, originally a third-round pick of the Bears in the 1999 draft, was traded to the Dolphins in 2004 in the deal that brought defensive end Adewale Ogunleye to Chicago. Booker was shocked by the trade and said at the time that he didn't see it coming.
The Dolphins released Booker last month, giving the Bears a chance to snatch the player who ranks fifth all-time in catches (315) and sixth all-time in receiving yards (3,684) for the club.

It's amazing how the media have spun all the information about Brett Favre into some god like figure, on and off the field.
All I know is, Brett was happy when he was winning. When he was losing, he has done things like left the field without acknowledging the other team or pouted when his team wouldn't get him Randy Moss or keep Javon Walker. A player he smitted during his time with the Vikings.
Favre is a a great player, no doubt, but as far as a person...he's not more impressive than anyone else. The media made him out to be an angellic figure. No one seems to remember when he was an ass hole in Atlanta and in his first years in Green Bay, when he did whatever he wanted and ignored coaches and fellow players.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin...there was nothing this guy could do that was wrong. Even when he was addicted to pain killers, (although handled well) no one questioned where he got these non-prescription vicadin (sp?).
It's just strange how we decide who is a hero and and who is a selfish crybaby.

Rex Grossman is a 3rd string NFL QB. No way should he be in the hunt to start, he'd be a very bad backup. I'd rather take a crapshoot & get any other teams 3rd stringer & sign him on the hope you get lucky than have Grossman in contention to start. I agree the money was low, so it wasn't a "bad" move, it just wasn't a "good" move either. It's like kissing your sister, as they say.
I 110% disagree with this...first of all you have to look at our recent history. Rex is the best in a long line of HORRIBLE quarterbacks. Our team has started Jonaton Quinn, Craig Krenzel, Shane Matthews and Jim Miller for extended periods of time in the last 10 years.
It does get worse than Grossman, it really does. We've endured those periods.

I'm so done with crap like this...the band was given an opportunity.
The talk shit about other bands and say GN'R and Rob Zombie are low class?
Hypocrites.
...and all the while Axl and company remain silent because no response is needed...it's all caddy and a waste of time.

HUGE mistake. They should have dumped him now while they had the perfect chance. They would be better off taking a chance on an undrafted rookie than keeping Grossman another year.
Sorry, I have to disagree James. I think a one-year deal is perfect. It provides incentive for him to actually play smart football. Especially when you consider the fact that...they have no other option. What difference does it make if the they draft someone in the 3rd or 7th round and throw him in vs starting Grossman.
The bears will never have a good offense. It's not where they spend they money. They spend their money on defense and try to make the offense just good enough to win. A quarterback will not thrive in any system where the model is just to patch it all together. It's a run first offense, and if they doesn't succeed, then how the hell are you supposed to pass for success?
The Bear's offense has been a joke forever. Even during the superbowl era, their passing offense was below average.
I don't understand why you wouldn't pick up Briggs' contract unless you expect him to not play well once he gets his huge money. Rosenhaus, you piece of shit!!!

...Axl decided he didn't want to finish a tour and didn't show up to a Philadephia gig that ended in a pretty major riot, but then...

Interesting point about the rest of the division being down and the bears being up...but you can hardly use that to predict the future. I think there is still a good two or three good seasons out of a healthy bears defense to be had. HEALTHY mind you...
And here's the thing with the Packers...you watch what happens next year when they start facing all the teams that won their respective divisions this coming year...something they didn't have to do this season. Things will be a bit different...and if a team can figure out how to stop the slant, curl, screen pass combo that brett favre seems so successful with...it won't even need to be much to tumble this young team full of egos that are waiting to sprout this coming season...Javon Walker??? lol
If you think the bear's window is closed...then that means it was only really open for 1, maybe 2 seasons. Some believe they got rid of Mushin to keep Briggs...and with that LB crew and those corners and of course the D-line...then I think there is a chance there for the D to return to some pretty awesome heights...
That being said...Berrian could get his huge contract and be worthless if he doesn't get the attention he likes. The bears Wide outs dropped a lot of passes last year and I felt that was due to the horrible concentration level that comes when 1 out of 20 pass plays actually goes to a receiver.
