Lost Jimi Hendrix Album Will Be Released In 2013
A new Jimi Hendrix album of previously unreleased material is set to be released in 2013.
The LP entitled "People, Hell And Angels" was recorded in 1968 and 1969. The songs were meant for "First Days Of The New Rising Sun", the follow up to "Electric Ladyland" that Hendrix was working on when he passed away. It is set for release in the US on March 5, 2013 according to Rolling Stone. A UK release date is yet to be set for the new record.(via NME)
Tracks on the record apparently feature Hendrix experimenting with horns, keyboards, percussion and a second guitar.
Meanwhile, the legendary axeman's set from the 1969 Woodstock festival is set to receive a cinematic release later this month. The show will be screened on November 29 and December 4 at more than 30 cinemas across the UK, and in movie theatres globally.
The gig is being released to celebrate the 70th year of Hendrix's birth and will play alongside the film Live at Woodstock, which features interviews with band members Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, as well as engineer Eddie Kramer and Woodstock promoter Michael Lang. Live at Woodstock is directed by Bob Smeaton, whose previous credits include the film Festival Express.

You make some good points.
I guess we just have different ways of looking at it.
I mean for ANYTHING else I'd have been happy to just think "ahh it's Izzy being Izzy"..
....but I dunno this one was just one too many times to the well for me. I'm ok with every other GNR event turning into some kind of clusterfuck but this one....to me not showing up to the party was just rude....
I dunno how to explain how I feel about it.
You know in the movie casino where de niro's chararacter is at war with joe pesci's character....and when there's a problem with De niro's wife...peschi says to him "You should have called me. This aint business. It's family".
I'm cool with GNR not wanting to reunite. But I think the personal bullshit should have been put aside for the night. They didn't have to play. But the whole industry, the fans, the media the world was focused on this event as a chance to say thanks to GNR.
It sucks Axl didn't come - but his reason is at least logical.
Izzy. Well. I just see it as rude.
It's cool if other people don't see it that way...but Will asked why I'd lost respect...and that's pretty much it...as far as I'm concerned it was a dick move and until such time as he apologises...or gives an actual good reason for not showing up...i'm treating him as a guy who did great stuff but doesn't respect his fans.
Agree mate

I agree its utterly stupid wasting time writing about these things but hey, why not?
At least nobody is tearing anyone else a new one of something that happened between Axl and Slash 20 years ago!
Slashs has the most overated hair i dont see what all the gnr fan thinks so good about it. Its just gets messy

Jason Newsted: 'It's Taken Me 12 Years To Get Over Metallica
He was once the bass player for the most high profile heavy metal band in the world. But, after splitting with Metallica back in 2001, it has taken Jason Newsted twelve years to adjust:
"In my time with Metallica I went to every singe pre-show and every single after-show. There was eleven hundred people every week that I would look into their eyes, shake their hands and give them one minute.
"After I got out of Metallica there was all kinds of crazy, heavy emotions that nobody knows about. I did a very serious, reclusive deal: I built a ranch in Montana in the centre of a million acres of nothing. I just said, 'Screw it, man, I'm outta here.'
"It took me 12 years to come back to earth – and here I am. My boots are on the ground and I'm ready to go."
Newsted has revealed that he is working on a solo project, tentatively titled Newsted Heavy Metal: "I have so much music from over the years. I'm just trying to figure out exactly what I want to unleash on everybody first.
"Anybody that cares about what I'm doing, I want to share with them. Everybody else, peace, man! There's room for everybody. But the people that go for it, let's go get it, you know?"
The bassist also pointed out that he got the gig in Metallica back in 1986 because he was a diligent tape trader, something that had impressed drummer Lars Ulrich.
"I had to put one tape at a time in an envelope, and figure out how much it was to Ireland, Spain or whatever. I did it very diligently. That's why Flotsam got to be where they were - and that's actually the very reason I got the gig with Metallica.
"When Lars Ulrich called out to all his contacts my name came out of everyone's mouth: 'This kid is organised.' I got the gig because I tape-traded and I was so committed to sharing the music."
