Duff has been doing a bunch of interviews recently and this is the only one in which he talked about GN'R in this way. And the "new GN'R album" bit is not even in the headline of the article, so it doesn't look like deliberate clickbait and it hasn't been picked up by any Blabbermouth type site either (which is telling about how much of a shit media gives about new GN'R music - the days that this would be big news seem to be long gone). But it's possible that he was paraphrased or misquoted (it's Daily Express, after all).
Most band members are capable of working on both GN'R and side/solo projects. Slash and Duff don't put too much thought into it. They write the songs, record them, release them. Duff said he wrote about 60 solo songs during Covid.
Duff doesn't get to choose the article headline.

I'm at the point where I don't even really care if the song is good or not. I just want to finally hear the rest of these songs we've talked about for years so I can stop wondering.

27 days untill the first batch is shipped. Kind of intrigued to see if they can pull off a song release without a leak. It's the final stretch
That's good news. It's a sign it actually sold some copies.. although no way of knowing how many were initially pressed.
It'll leak. If not soon...about a week before when a handful of people get it shipped early.
Hard Skool was getting shipped early a month in advance, was supposed to go out at the end of February and people started getting theirs in late January.

CD sounds pretty crisp since it wasn't compressed to shit like every other rock album this century. As for the mix, it's not perfect but I don't see how it could be under the circumstances. As far as copy and paste goes, I think Hard Skool and Perhaps are far worse, in fact they are complete shit sonically imo. Of the new songs only Absurd was mixed well.

Shacklermyrye wrote:Probably written by the same person that wrote that Perhaps was written this year by Slash and Duff. The mega link i left of the mix of The General yesterday has been flagged and pulled already. So someone is scouring for links and pulling them, i'd expect something on The General either this friday or next.
Yeah we have to use DMs for that. There’s a certain forum clown who reports everything on “behalf” of the band
Haven't they stopped though? I haven't noticed any Youtube takedowns recently.

Eddie and Alex had simply talked too much shit. The damage was irreparable.
Just like with GNR, that reunion should've been so much more than it was.
Only album they could pull together had to come from scrounging through ancient demos.
Sound familiar?
It's a miracle they did that. Without Wolfie egging it on, it never even happens.
Yeah, they took too many shots at one another over the years. Remember the MTV news interview after the failed reunion in 1996? And Alex and (mostly) Eddie were just ripping on him. That was brutal if you were DLR.
Guns doesn't seem that bad. And to be honest, they seem to have gotten over the hurdles (Axl showing up late and the Paul Tobias stuff). Maybe they'll never be close like they were before. But they seem cordial and at least can tolerate each other's presecene off stage.
AgesOfTheIce wrote:They weren't the best of friends but there wasn't any animosity between them throughout the reunion years.
No. They were low key ripping on one another during the reunion as well. You had to read between the lines type of stuff. I was reading some New York Times articles. And there were quotes if you read them, you could tell the reunion was just for the money and playing the old tunes.
I never implied they were playing together because they enjoyed each other's company. Of course the reunion was for money, also to give Eddie a chance to play with Wolfgang and for DLR a chance to get back in front of big crowds again. They weren't friends (Eddie and Dave, Alex and Dave clearly are friends at this point) but there was no more animosity as there was back in the day. There is a difference between bandmates taking a few shots at one another in the press over frustrations and actual animosity.
In 2013 DLR gave an interview lamenting the fact that he and Eddie weren't writing new music together. In 2015 Eddie gave an interview to Billboard saying that Dave being standoffish was the reason they didn't have a closer relationship, and that they were having creative differences on working on new music. None of the hatred and vitriol of the old days though, which is what I was saying.
Yeah, in 1997 Eddie and Alex mocked Dave pretty heavily on MTV, Dave felt that he had been used to sell the greatest hits and had given Van Halen bad press by announcing in a press release that the brothers were to blame for no reunion. So they took some shots at him. This doesn't mean that Dave hated them or would refuse to hug Eddie a decade later, which is what started this conversation. Alex said way worse shit about Dave in 2004, that he was insane and needed to be on meds. Yet they are now closer than they ever were.

Just my memory of what was going on during the VH reunion. That first year was the only time I was following it.
Doesn't sound like Dave? Look up the old stories from his old manager in the 90s and the Black Crowes dealing with his massive ego and temper tantrums.
Yeah, but DLR has always had genuine affection for the VH brothers. Their family as well. Even when they were having their most bitter war of words during 1986 he called Eddie when his father Jan died. He and Alex are very close now and apparently speak weekly. Eddie was a very shy and sensitive person and if Dave had rejected a hug I don't think he'd have ever forgiven that slight. They weren't the best of friends but there wasn't any animosity between them throughout the reunion years.

Dustin Bones isn't trying to fool anybody. His account has been blatant parody from the very beginning.
