#7011 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Are/Were you a Scott Weiland/STP Fan? » 952 weeks ago

never, but I do like a few songs, maybe 5 total...Vaseline, Interstate, etc. Certainly a pretty good band but I don't think they hold up against other hard rock groups from their era Like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam,  Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Tool, etc. I don't like anything about Scott Weiland as an individual.

maybe the fat kid is a part of the "collective"...along with the legendary PURE..:haha:

#7013 Re: The Garden » My grandmother died » 952 weeks ago

My mom died at 47, my dad died at 64, all 4 grandparents have passed, my father in law died at 59, my brother in law at 37 and my wife and I lost a second child at 33 weeks of pregnancy due to a cord accident (the baby was already about 6 lbs). I know a little bit too much about death, and I am only 41. My condolences Tommie....it is tough if you have never experienced it first hand. Buzzsaw, mom's are by far the hardest....hang in there. I forgive you for your Replacements comments.

#7015 Re: The Sunset Strip » Replacements Reissues » 952 weeks ago

that's cool...I mean they're no Matchbox 20. I'll bet your boy Rob Thomas knows who Paul Westerberg is. The Replacements have more albums in Rolling Stone's top 500 than Gnr does. Check any list of greatest albums from the 80's and you will frequently find the Replacements higher than Gnr. They also influenced a hell of alot of bands....Nirvana being one of them....wanna know where the album title Nevermind was lifted? Off a Replacements song...they were a great band, every bit the equal of Gnr. Whether you recognize that or not is immaterial....

gotta love the King....had American Trilogy on the ipod last night...classic. "Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton. Old times there are not forgotten...look away look away Dixie land". 9

#7017 Re: The Sunset Strip » Replacements Reissues » 952 weeks ago

not big sellers but huge critical darlings...all three albums. They were popular on college radio and campuses so unless you went to college between 85-89, you most likely don't get it!

#7018 Re: The Sunset Strip » Replacements Reissues » 952 weeks ago

I think they should have started the reissues with the big three albums- Let It Be, Tim, and Pleased to Meet Me. Any of the more punk rock fans would dig the first album Sorry Ma......it rocks pretty hard. Stink does too...

#7019 Re: The Sunset Strip » Alice in Chains » 952 weeks ago

I'm a greatest hits AIC fan. Top five
1. Them Bones
2. Rooster
3. Grind
4. Man in the Box
5. Again

saw them open for VR....I went mainly to see AIC. They were great, and I thought the new singer did a wonderful job and had solid stage presence, played a little guitar too. I think they could make a good album and have no problem putting the AIC label on it.

#7020 Re: Guns N' Roses » AXL ROSE Negotiating For More Money Before Releasing 'Chinese Democrac » 952 weeks ago

Well, TO BE TECHNICAL, the recording was done in March.....but not the mixing and mastering so the album was still being worked on. Beta told Classic Rock that the album was finished just before xmas so that means the label hasn't really sat on it very long at all-about two months. My guess is they are waiting for a late spring/ summer release where they have plenty of time to set up press for the summer schedule. Hey, I am trying to be hopeful.

also, take in to account that Merck and Axl said the label would not discuss renegotiation until they had a finished album. We could actually be in the early stages of the stalemate.:headbang:
