I don't know the rules in Vermont, but they have a Republican governor.  If Sanders leaves his senate seat for a cabinet position, do they have an election or does the governor get to appoint a replacement?  Same thing with Warren in Massachusetts.

Yeah the government appoints the replacement.  Which is why Biden indicated that he probably wouldn’t pick Warren or Sanders.

All the votes have been counted and Biden is ahead on WI.

I see 95% counted...where do you see all?

I see it now...Biden wins Wisconsin with a 20,697 margin. That's incredible to me...I didn't have much faith in Wisconsin.

Trump needs a miracle win in MI, WI or NV to get past 270.  I think at this moment he has PA, but if he loses GA or NC, both very real possibilities at this moment, it's over.  Even if he gets both plus PA plus Maine's +1, that puts him at 268.  Not the landslide Democrats predicted, but a decisive victory none the less.  Don't be like certain people in 2016 and cry the sky is falling.  I was that asshole in 2008 and swore I'd never be that irrational again.

I see a pretty clear path to 271 EVs for Biden.

Could this be like Gore v. Bush in 2000? I can't recall what the supreme court decided there...did they vote to ignore the recounts and just went by the original totals?

They stopped Gore form getting a recount exclusively in Miami-Dade.  My idiot friends are telling me more than 100k votes were cast in Wisconsin than registered voters, so there's one possible court case.  PA absolutely will be contested, but seems more limited to votes received today through Friday.  If Trump is losing when all ballots cast/received by yesterday are counted, it seems moot to me.

I have heard through the grapevine that Pennsylvania still has a shit ton of vote to count and like 35 people are doing...LOL.

The news last night reported they (Philadelphia) can process 10,000 an hour, which  if they ran 12 hours yesterday, was only 120,000.  Population a million+ so votes is probably around 200k-300k or more. So, 2-3 days.

WI is pretty much Biden now.

MI and NV looks like they are absolutely leaning for Biden, with a low percentage of the vote still out in Dem areas. But it ain't over until the fat lady sings.

I'm so curious about GA and how that turns out. Still waiting for that Atlanta vote to come in. Even though I predicted a GA and AZ win, it would be a fascinating election if it played out that way.

If Biden can win WI, NV and MI, then it's game over. I'd imagine that PA or GA would play a role Trump's response to all this. He's already claiming he wants a recount in WI. In my mind, if PA or GA is a loss for him as well, then contesting the other states or demanding recounts is pretty useless.

Trump's speech last night was highly authoritarian and anti democratic:

Keep counting the votes in Arizona because I clearly won and stop counting votes everywhere else because I clearly won.

Again, just one of the reasons he never should have been president and should not continue to be. He attacks our institutions with outright lies. In this case if he loses, he'll ensure a messy transfer of power, possibly violent because of shit he says.

We're seeing one of the consequences of treating politics like sports and dividing the country into two sports teams.

Last night was the Superbowl and both sides wanted a decisive win so they could dance in the end zone and mock the losing team.

Our culture isn't suited for slow vote counts and recounts.

We're Veruca Salt....we want it now.

Total sham. Wow. Trump was right. Only way he loses is if the Dems cheat. And, they are.

Sorry dude, no one is cheating.  This kind of rhetoric needs to end.  It's not over yet, but no cheating has occurred.  The polls were way off and Trump appears to be within 1% in states the experts called +10 for Biden just 36 hours ago.  But no one is cheating and that kind of talk is dangerous.

Nah, it is dirty. 10 times the amount of mail in in PA?  Dems knew they couldn’t take Trump on an actual Election Day so they did this mail in campaign by pushing the Covid fear and there are going to be errors. PA is accepting ballots for another 7 days. Why? Mail in should have been cut off BEFORE Election Day. It is almost as if they sit around to see how many votes they need then let the harvesting begin.

Everybody wants a decisive win, it's probably in our nature.

But a win is still a win and I think we should probably just see it as that. I anticipated a blowout from other data surrounding the polls and the severity of the covid crisis. I also have a hard time accepting the values in the stock market, also based on data I feel is valuable. In both cases reality is different than my emotions, so I have to accept it with a shoulder shrug, lol.

America ain't good at waiting...for anything. Can't disagree with that.

Ask the PA republicans, they're the ones who didn't want the ballots counted before election day. Similar to NV, they didn't want to count them before and didn't want to count them afterwards. I mean c'mon, that's pretty transparent.

Count all the votes. That's how democracy works.
