Anyone know what is on this, particularly in terms of interviews?

Apparently there are three tapes in all. This would be great to hear!

While I'm not 100%...

This is probably the tapes radio stations used before official release.

Remember how certain stations played the albums in the lead up to release?

This is also that brief period people like ID remember where Bad Apples was being treated as a single in certain areas.

At this point I will probably get the remasters cheap and then make my own box set with:

The original masters

The Japanese SHM masters

These new remasters

The Slash UYI-era promo interview disc

The bootlegs posted online (This looks like everything?
https://www.discogs.com/release/1368712 … ound-Mixes- )

The “Estranged” official radio edits, the Axl and Slash holiday messages released in Japan on CD-3, and any other odds and ends from the time period.

All that insanity deserved to be properly documented. Always hoped the midnight Illusions madness would make it into the Perfect Crime or some other documentary/box set.

James, great video! Here is some MTV coverage: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w6UPGmI6maA

I did not make it to any midnight on-sales but recall staring at the covers that afternoon at the record section of a Fred Meyer stores, startled by the distinctly non-GNR artwork.

Yeah all this stuff needs to be put together and they actually do something with it.

It was such an exciting time for our generation.

Metallica used some scenes from Black album release for that documentary series(Classic Albums) that had an episode on the black album.

I loved that series.... too bad GNR couldn't/wouldn't do one for either AFD or UYI.

I highly recommend the Rumours, Black album, Dark Side, and Aja episodes.

It doesn't get nearly as much attention obviously but Ozzy's No More Tears was also released then and anticipated as well... especially after hearing the title track and video....

The “Achtung Baby” midnight release was another big one. Tower gave out free posters and 12”es of “The Fly.”

I thought the ChiDem release would be similarly exciting but as I mentioned a while back, I was the only person to turn up at my local Best Buy!

Some clips from the interviews have circulated on youtube, e.g.

There used to be more, but can't find them right now. There's a partial transcript, though:
