Elvis was the best cover tune man. Almost all of his covers, whether studio or live, surpassed the originals in my eyes.

Excellent call. I prefer the stuff that unfortunately no one even knows he covered. If you haven't already, try these on for size:

Make The World Go Away
There Goes My Everything
Never Been To Spain
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Sweet Caroline
Runaway

the list goes on.

I knew of Bridge, but i'm not recalling the others.

The ones that stand out in my mind is That's All Right, Blue Moon of Kentucky, Johnny B Goode, My Way, Always On My Mind...

I personally LOVE E's version of My Way. I'd take it over Sinatra anyday.

Holy crap. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Will be checking this out.

You're so getting a karma! :thumbup

Edit: Just some comments on some of the tracks.. As soon as I heard them, I recalled Make the World Go Away, great cover.

My Way '77 - 9
Proud Mary - great cover. But I don't know if it's superior. It'd still probably take CCR's definitively. If not their's, than Tina Turner's. Then E. But it's still a strong cover.
Runaway - holy shit, this is great. Was it Del Shannon that did this? Some guy with a name like that. I remember this primarily (lol) as the theme song from Michael Mann's "Crime Story" with Dennis Farina. Great, underrated late-80's TV series. Love this track, and Elvis' version is amazing. The backup singers, then the guitar work... love this song - 11
Sweet Caroline - i've never been a massive Diamond fan, so E's version owns.
Yesterday / Hey Jude - O-M-G... wow. I don't think i've ever heard The Beatles so finely covered. This is a gem.
You've Lost That Loving Feeling - this is amazing. The vocals are out of this world.
I Can't Stop Loving You - classic. I remember this one now, and E performs it amazingly. I still think my favorite though is Ray Charles.

While looking for a new ringtone I came across Willie Nelson doing 'Time After Time'.  While staying true to the original he changes the timing up enough to make it his own. Very nicely done.

I agree that Elvis had done many covers better than the original artist.
The Beatles were very good at doing that too.

Rock & Roll music by Chuck Berry
Twist and Shout by The Isley Brothers

Just to name a few........:o
