Re: Greatest Album of the 21st Century Elimination Series, Nominations

It's been a long tradition of Evo, since the ROV days to do elimination (or Madness) poll series from Guns N' Roses albums/song (even band members), to favourite films, TV shows to even Michael Jackson's Thriller and multiple Metallica related topics (the later two of which vanished with the great server thread loss) ect.

So since it's been a while, it's been suggested that we do a series on favourite album of the 21st Century so far.

For anyone interested, it would be great if you could nominate 10 of your favourite albums released since 1/1/00. Live albums/the greatest hits/box sets will not count. It has to be an album of original material, here's a sample list:

Hidden Text:

Kid A - Radiohead
The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem
Elephant - The White Stripes
Funeral - Arcade Fire
Third - Portishead
Random Access Memories - Daft Punk
By the Way - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
With Teeth - Nine Inch Nails
Songs for the Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age
Hybrid Theory - Linken Park/spoiler]

Hopefully some great recommendations come out of this for music.

Want to and get at least 10 sets of different nominations. The format will be determined after we see how many nominations we get.

Oh and the answers yes:

Hidden Text:

You can nominate Chinese Democracy by Guns N' Roses, if you really want too.

Soundgarden - King Animal
MIA - Kala
GNR - Chinese Democracy
Audioslave - Audioslave
U2 - No Line on the Horizon
Portishead - Third
Metallica - Hardwired to Self Destruct
Lady GaGa - The Fame
Velvet Revolver - Contraband
NIN - The Slip

That wasn't as easy as I expected. I've whined for years about the quality of music the past 20 years but there's definitely some treasure amongst all the garbage.

I may edit something else in. I know I'm forgetting something. I didn't include two Bucket albums. If anyone else nominates one or both of them, I may add one.

Been on an Avril Lavigne kick lately and I almost included The Best Damn Thing but figured it would just be a wasted pick.

I didn't include GNR or VR on my list. Not sure if everyone wants to go in that direction. If they do, I'll probably add CD, maybe Contraband.

I hope all the active members participate. Let's get a good set of albums in this thing.

I wasn't great with their albums, but the 2010s was kinda led by pop acts. I think 1 or 2 need to be included:

Maroon 5 2011ish album?  (Payphone, Love Somebody)
Beiber - 2015ish (Love Yourself, Sorry, What Do You Mean)
Beyonce - 2015ish (Formation, Sorry, Hold Up)
Kanye - never knew much about his 'albums' but he definitely is a top 2000-  act.
Taylor - Red or 25?

Things like that. Again, I knew their songs, Beyonce I checked out later/recently and some of her songs from that era are really cool.

Uggh...is it bad that i cant even think of the last time i listened to modern music? Bands dont seem to write "albums" anymore its mostly a search for a hit single imo

I'll look around and see if anything stands out to me

Edit: I guess the 21st century started a long time ago, lol

Forgot about Eminem & Linken Park.  Such early 2000s lol.  Wasn't a huge fan of either, but pretty solid stuff. Hybrid Theory had a stack of radio songs. and Eminem was nonstop for a few years there.
