This is as close we'll get to the mythical Ghostbusters 3, most of the original cast are returning despite the trailer:

Wow. Not impressed.

I never understood why it was so difficult to get a proper sequel off the ground to the point that it's 30 YEARS later and the world is still waiting.

It can never happen at this point anyways. That remake/reboot was a monstrosity and now they're going to try this.

If this one bombs, just put it out to pasture.

It is rumoured, the original cast minus (Egon) are in this more than it looks.

The modern esque trailer, might be misleading.

That said, it still looked more appealing than the infamous Paul Feig one did.

Now THIS, has got me pretty excited.

Yeah, it’s not the same tone as the original two movies from what we’re seeing, in that there’s not much comedy on display, but I like that they’re being faithful to the source material and expanding on that to make a new story.

I think I saw the return of Gozer at 1:49!

Sorry, couldn’t work out how to inbed the video. You really gotta fix that

I still can't believe how long it took to finally get a real sequel off the ground.

It's mind boggling.

I was 14 when Ghostbusters 2 was released.

It's not like these people didn't have long stretches of time between projects.

Looking back, the mid 90s beg for Ghostbusters 3. It would fit in with those cheesy superhero movies and some of the comedy movies of the time.

Yeah there's a handful of things like that where it's kinda amazing that they didn't at least try stuff and butcher it more...

Like a combination of bob gale's blocking rights and michael J fox's illness made BTTF not continue.

But when you think Indy 5 is happening with a 79 year old Harrison, or how many Terminator sequels we had, or even stuff like AvP - it's kinda strange that Ghostbusters and Back to the Future are relatively clean still....

Another one is Masters of the Universe....I know they rebooted the cartoon now and in 2002...and that they fucked the original movie...but when you think how big a deal the 80s cartoon was to kids of my generation....and how easy CGI is now....it's sort of bizzare that they never made a proper version of it.

That's definitely one that needed a movie in the 90s...when Gen X was in their 20s and would've flocked to the theaters for a nostalgic childhood trip.

I know just the moment for it....when those old kid tv theme songs became popular for awhile in 1994.

The pooch of Gen X got screwed in more ways than one.... from jump street to present day.

I'm actually really excited for this especially after seeing that "mess" that came out five years ago. Gee it's almost like Sony should of made something similar to this instead. Anyway hope it's good.

Seen it this afternoon, I really liked it.

I wasn't that keen on the final third, but that criticism goes for alot of modern films.

I really liked most of it and as someone who loved the original films as a child, I'm confused as to some of the reviews I've read for this.

It's a love letter to the original films and not the film I feared it be from the trailer.

Any reviewer that's upset the 2016 Ghostbusters was erased and has nothing to do with this, shouldn't be taken seriously.

I was incredibly disappointed with it. I was a fanatic about this franchise and had every toy and collectible as a child. As an adult I consider the first one to be near perfect and the golden standard for comedy. All this movie was is nostalgia porn. If you remember every line of dialogue from the first movie (as I do), you’re going to hear most of them again. What you saw in the trailer is the setup and Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon have maybe 15 minutes of total screen time. None of the chemistry and buildup Murray and Weaver had in the original. In fact, Weaver’s sole appearance in the movie is a 20 second clip after credits with Murray. Annie Potts’s cameo served no purpose.

I have a feeling a lot of the same people who liked Bill & Ted face the music will enjoy this as well. But in my opinion, Murray was right to avoid making a third film.
