Does anyone here still listen to either of these songs?
.
Nope

See Jarmo's response below. If you read between the lines, you would think that it is being streamed:
Not sure where this rumor originated. Huh
How likely is it that they won't put out the track? Both Absurd and Hard Skool were released to radio and streaming. The only tracks not available are the live tracks on the singles.
But this isn't a live track. I'm assuming they'll release it to radio as well?

Oklahoma

For me, Oklahoma is the "holy grail". No nonsense, kickass rock song with a catchy riff. Reminds me of Alice in Chains' "Damn that River".
If Slash has to make its contribution, it fits perfectly in this song.

Exactly my thoughts. I guess the song is overhyped. Still hope to be wrong!
Nothing could live up to that level of hype.
They definitely went overboard on that in the 2000s.
We also need to take this into consideration....
The General has not been hyped in literally 16 years.
It was one of the early signs... along with the hiring of Ashba...when I realized that CD II was being abandoned.
That is definitely true. What worries me more is that it was once said to be a trilogy, don't cry, estranged and then the general.
Maybe people now "hope/expect" that the general is the same genre as dont cry + estranged, while the telephone snippet leak makes it come across differently and because industrial sound was chosen in that period.

Lol, typically for Team Brazil™

The general is, based on that cell phone clip, just a song like all the other Chinese Denocracy songs. Industrial guitar with some Axl helium '99 voice.
It's just "good" for us, hardcore fans, but will never be a hit for the mainstream like estranged, for example.

I remember someone "INSIDERY" (MSL maybe?) mentioned that "The General" might be actually a combination of a bunch of ideas explored in the instrumental demos on the rough mix
Yeah, i remember that 2.

Be interesting if the general surfaced, didn't they use parts of it as an intro at one stage? Unless it's on the list for that reason.
The General was used as an intro on the 2006 and 2010 tours, confirmed by Fernando on Twitter in 2010. I don't think they will release a song that Axl can't perform live, and based on the cellphone party clip I think Axl would really struggle with this one.
Do you have the link to the party video by any chance?
Unfortunately, you can´t hear his voice. You could also vaguely hear his singing in the original clip.
