#1081 Re: Guns N' Roses » Now on sale for $7.99 at Best Buy » 874 weeks ago
i agree that a trilogy could have been a big deal when the music was relevant but it's dated music no matter how many albums there are. we know what he got and that is a shit load of money independent of sales. wal mart would have quadrupled cd sales but that would have meant less money for all of the hands in the cookie jar. we all talk about the leaks and how they're old and played out. imagine how axl feels. he's listened to them hundreds of times more than we all have while working on them in the studio. it is very likely that he was done with cd by '03 and was just trying to get rid of it in the most economical way possible. best buy may also have a deal lined up with gnr for a second and maybe even a third album. we all know better than to hold our breath for anything but if you had 50 songs and most of them where a decade plus old and a handful were fresh and sounded great, would you release a trilogy and risk all of them flopping together if you owed the label two more albums? he did say "same bat time, same bat channel" when asked about a follow up album in the chat sessions. we'll have to wait and see.
#1082 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Possibility of a Guns N' Roses '09 Summer tour » 875 weeks ago
i say finish the next album, release the fucker, and then go on a theater tour. like james said, both will get reviewed. if it blows up, great! either way, it's what the fans want and will aprreciate and i think axl is content with that as well. i'd be content waiting a few years for it to happen if need be. they already toured cd as much as they can. would i like to hear sorry and cather live? Hell yes! but i think axl knows when to cut his losses. why tour an album twice when the album and the first tour didn't sell as well as it should. they could then play a large portion of cd along with the second album and burry appetite once and for all.
#1083 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ Ashba Live Chat » 879 weeks ago
this makes me wonder just a bit if the label is pulling these strings. axl, who is basically the only known musician in the band, won't promote his album. Why would Ron and Dj when they're not even allowed to say anything? if this were true, something would have to be in the works since dj has nothing to do with CD and the label wouldn't want him promoting it. so probably not but who ever knows for sure.

me too and i'm sure he'll clear that one up.

It was mainly a general statement about the issue and not really directed at you. That whole "you were never promised" tripe and other assorted Axl quotes that nutswingers keep next to their bed like a Bible really rile my feathers.
apology accepted

not getting my hopes up for gnr insight
why would dj be any different than the rest?
#1087 Re: Guns N' Roses » When All Is Said And Done... » 879 weeks ago
The problem is Axl wants EVERYTHING on his terms. There's nothing wrong with that if you can swing it (and it appears in some respects, he can). He'll sit around as a hermit until he decides he wants to do something (tour?) and if he gets what he wants, he'll do it. If not, he won't. I suspect he hired DJ to tour and found that he wasn't getting what he wanted, so he said fuck it and went back to being a hermit. There's actually something admirable about that - even if whatever his expectations were weren't realistic.
I, also, agree with Buzz
A tour was looking likely in his mind so he got ready just in case and later changed his mind or didn't get the offer/arangement he was hoping for.

war wrote:a tour was never promised
No one said it was. This whole "you were never promised anything" garbage is old. Really old. GNR is about as active as Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper, and have been for years. No one ever expected anything, so I never understood this "nobody owes you, not one goddamn thing" tripe that gets spewed from the swingers when nothing happens.
Its like some built in defense mechanism.
axl seemed more confident in a second album
Yeah, "don't know, don't care" is just drowning in confidence.....
But don't forget:
Nobody owes you.......not one goddamn thing.
It wasn't a lie, promise, or guarantee.
I'm at the point in my fandom where I can simply laugh at this shit and see it for the farce that its always been. Axl wanna flood the market with 3 releases? Go right ahead. Wanna make a mockery of the band, tarnish the name, not release anything and do nothing? Go right ahead.
In 2009, the communities only exist because the members enjoy the communities they are a member of. It has almost nothing to do with the band itself, and in reality has been this way for years.
completely went off while missing my point and you copied that part of my post, recreating it in a different context
i agree with everything you said
what i'm saying is the fact he hired dj doesn't mean a tour is coming nor does it mean he is out of the band since a summer tour didn't happen and things are quiet
nowhere did i say or promote the "you were never promised anything" bullshit
and i'm not a swinger, james
if dj got out already, he did something bucket and all the others wish they could have, assuming it's the "same old" again.
#1089 Re: Guns N' Roses » Is GNR/Motley possible? (No info, I'm just dreaming) » 880 weeks ago
a tour was never promised and axl seemed more confident in a second album then a tour when he graced us on the boards
dj is still in the band
hence the disappearing act
gnr already toured cd and y would they do it again, considering the way things have gone down?
