Do you think there's such a thing as men's work, and women's work?
Opinions ONLY with reasons welcome - ie "women's work is scrubbing ma sh1tstains offa mah pants" is not valid for this question!
I've come to think lately (after seeing female undertakers bury a family member, who I loved very much) that the old norms are really lame - I don't like to think of women getting FORCED into combat, but can't deny they've earned their place in the military, and just wonder if any of you have any more stuff on this?
I'm old school though and do think a mother should raise a child, at least first 4 years, ideally supported by father/state to do so - opinions on that, with reasons again, welcome!

I finally got 72 hours off and I'm making Sunday special lol by roasting this boy a chicken, free range and gonna be one gorgeous feed, I'll be making roasted taters and gravy and all the trims, so with my heart in my belly, I have to ask, what do you like for good food, and how do you do it?
If you have a mum/mom lol, or significant other who cooks, share the foods that makes you go
(Pot Noodle is NOT an answer! )

Agree to disagree I guess - Introduce Yrself aged better to my ears than Real thing, not to say i don't love both, and I do agree The Real Thing sculpted nu-metal.
Maybe I just loved it too much and got burned out.

We're talking about a generation (mine) that grew up without the Cold War.
BUT crucially what you inherited was an entire intelligence agency system that was predicated on the existance of an enemy with planet-destroying nukes, and the mindset that has to justify their defence spending and tactics on that basis.
these days you have a few c#nts in caves, but not seeing WHY that linkage from the Big Bad of the Cold War makes your intelligence agencies have overly-grandiose ambitions, is what will screw you, and may I say it, your civil liberties too.
Wow - not usually big on the politics but yeah, you need to know that stuff, to make sense of now.
Read some John le Carre, he's a good thinker and not wet about where our enemies lie - imo anyway!

Any chance of putting the pagination list (like I get replying here) on the bottom of each forum, as well as the top?
I like to browse a bunch of stuff in new tabs, having to scroll back up to see P2 is a bit of a bummer - but no biggie, just a whinge! (hehe now you KNOW I'm a true GnR fan! LOL)

I remember the 70's being about punk and politics that kicked your butt in real life, with the cold war and the 3 day week here in the UK - no power and no sugar, no reliable consumer basics, bodies of the dead being stored in refrigererated vans etc because there was nowhere else to put them, and the consequent trauma for their families.
the 80's and 90's gave us so much, I think life is progressively better for most people (cf former Soviet nations, although they have fallen back into tribal warfare) but yeah, history as lived is subjective, as acknowledged in books and study, doubly so - the victors usually get to write the history we inherit as factual.
