My assumption is that the record company didn't expect this to sell as well as it is.
This is what I think as well. Bach is not a big enough player in the industry to use a tactic like shipping out the cds in low quantities to create a buzz. He is at a position where he can really just "get by" with the type of sells that would be expected from a new release from him, the LAST thing he will want to do is lose sells. If this album were to debut in the top 40 it would be a MAJOR success for him, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

This concert would be one like none of us has ever seen. You have a band here who is still relevant after four decades. It would literally be months before tickets didn't sell out almost immediately.

The hair loss is bogus. Whatever part he is playing in this upcoming movie has him bald, just like the fat suit is f/x, so is the bald head.

I called around and Circuit City isn't the only chain who has sold out here. I tried three places and all three have sold out. That doesn't mean paydirt for sure but it is definitely looking good. The album is far from perfect but it is definitely better than I expected.
#1205 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » What did Appetite for Destruction mean to you?! » 920 weeks ago
Something about the "Where do we go now" bridge mesmerized me on SCOM . The song was just so brilliantly put together, yet that bridge made no sense nor fit at all yet made perfect sense and fit so well...this band/album hit me VERY hard. The more I listened the more Appetite became THE CD that I played all the time. Often Nirvana's "Nevermind" is credited to be the "hair band killer" but I think Appetite was the beginning of the end. Sure Axl had "the hair" but there was NOTHING hair band about G'n F'n R's nor Appetite. This was the first time I totally related to lyrics/music and a band at this level.

I bought it today (had someone pick it up for me) and it is surprisingly good. I'm up to track 6 right now which is called American Metalhead, and the album is solid on some tracks and weak on others. The ones that are solid are surprisingly solid however. I'll give you a little bit of my opinion of each track as I listen to it so I'll update this as I go. So far I'd say buy it. By the way, the local Circuit City was sold out of this album just after noon, that is a HUGE surprise. Could it be the buzz about Axl appearing on the album or was it just a fluke? Either way it was a surprise. Be interesting to see how successful it is on the charts next week. I think top 40 would be pushing it but if it does manage a debut that high my guess would be that Axl's name had a big hand in it.
The tracklist:
1.Angel Down (ass-kickin' rocker)
2.You Don't Understand (fair, but too "80's revisited" for me)
3.Back in the Saddle (first track with Axl and it's subpar to the original but the vocals are good together)
4.Love Is A Bitchslap (the second of three with Axl but even Axl can't take the cheese out of this one)
5.Stuck Inside (the third and final with Axl ... folks this is the winner of the three with "THE MAN"!)
6.American Metalhead (decent, but it will take a few listens to judge for sure)
7.Negative Light (yes and no, good moments tarnished with some odd screaming with no purpose)
8.Live & Die (not bad, not great)
9.By Your Side ("meant to be hit" I would guess but I just don't feel it. It's I Remember You deballed)
10.Our Love is a Lie (not bad, sleazy enough to grow on you)
11.Take You Down With Me (good one, very "Rob Halford" sounding. The influence of Priest is there)
12.Stabbin' Daggers (Another pretty good rocker, the band is tight on this cd)
13.You Bring Me Down (first opinion is best one since the opener, ROCKS!)
14.Falling Into You (second "ballad" but I like it much better than By Your Side...solid song)
Ok, that's it (not the import version so 14 tracks not 15) and I'd give it a solid 7 out of ten, might even 'grow' into an 8 with some more listens. Not bad considering most albums don't get higher than a 5 or 6 in my judgement. Not bad at all, although I wish Axl had sang more songs with Baz like Stuck Inside as that was a ripper. Back in the Saddle has the potential to grow on me but Love Is A Bitchslap is just cheese for my taste. Decent rock album when all is said and done. Go buy it.

I don't live far off the main road so it's never a matter of "if" with my pets (I prefer cats), it's always a matter of "when". I look at it now the same way as I look at life with loved ones in general...cherish every day, waste no time and have no regrets. Sorry for the blow James but I'm sure you gave him a good life while he was with you, that's all that really matters in the end.
#1208 Re: The Sunset Strip » The Mist (SPOILERS) » 920 weeks ago
This is my favorite short story by King followed by The Long Walk (good call James) and Survivor Type. I hope the big screen does this excellent story justice. Hopefully I'll be able to catch this one over the weekend.

This is one very serious threat to the U.S. Our weakened dollar has been on a concerning drop for some time now but the threat of the dollar losing it's hold as the world's currency is a blow that would be detrimental.

Looks like Cruise to me as well.
