There's a better sound on the drums with Steven than Matt. His drumming just seems kind of stale (Sorum). The drums and bass on AFD are fine. I'm not exactly sure how you can improve it without altering the flow of the songs anyway.

Anyone else start Jahvid Best? 41 pts today and almost outscored my opponent. I'm up by 100 points with opponent having Rivers, Andre Johnson, Gore, Steven Jackson, and Vernon Davis. I got Gates and Austin Collie in late games.
Made some good decisions this week. None of the bench guys produced. I'm going to drop Brent Celek for someone else.
Faldor: consider picking up Sam Bradford. He'll get a ton of attempts and is the unquestioned QB starter there. Schedule doesn't seem too difficult either.

For a game that sucked 4 quarters the last 2 minutes of the Steelers/Titans is fantastic.
Vince benched, Collins in.
Really crummy game by the Titans. Get ready for the Jeff Fisher coaching seat to get warm. Faldor, drop Vince Young.
DET-PHI was fantasy gold for me.

I hear you. I don't really like the prospects of Vick throwing the ball either. I have Celek and D. Jackson in respective leagues and I'm not feeling too great about their chances this week.
I'm starting Deshaun Jackson only because the Lions secondary is pretty suspect and he is streaky. On the MNF game, I'm avoiding Crabtree only because Greer and Porter are two underrated CBs. That plus Alex Smith sucks.
In between the crappy Beanie Wells pick and CJ Spiller I'm pretty much stuck with Jahvid Best and Matt Forte (who I made the mistake of not starting) as my other RB. I just hope that Peterson has a good game vs MIA. He has only has one 100yd game in the last 8-9 games. I also picked up Ahmad Bradshaw but he is sharing half the load with Jacobs and had most of the carries when the Giants were ahead. I figure Best is playing on turf and against a weakened run d and Forte should be a good bet to get 100+ total yards. Gives me a reason to watch CHI-DAL.
I'll probably go with Knox; thanks guys.
On Vince Young, they've been practicing with 3 WR/spread formations; I think they actually come out and pass a bunch on 1st downs and then do the usually running heavy offense. I expect 200+yds and at least 1 td for Young. So I think you'll be OK at QB.
Lee Evans and Mike Sims-Walker are kinda in the same boat. They'll should get a bunch of receptions but will ultimately disappoint for different reasons. Evans is stuck with the shitty o-line while Sims-Walker plays for a run first offense.
Well, anyway good luck guys!

Shit in the one league I'm in I got beat by someone who doesn't watch football. This person only joined because we goaded her into it. I almost got doubled up if it weren't for Gates MNF performance.
Here are my wrs points (via yahoo) for this past week:
1.50 (Crabtree)
4.50 (Calvin Johnson)
3.00 (Desean Jackson)
I added Austin Collie this week. No way I'm fucking starting Crabtree this week.
Flex spot advice--I'm currently starting Brent Celek (WR/TE spot). Got Sims-Walker and Johnny Knox, and Crabtree on Bench. Leave Celek in or subtitute one of the three guys?

Maroney got traded to DEN for a 2011 draft pick swap. NE gets a 4th rounder(??? how) and DEN gets NE 6th rounder. Why the fuck do teams trade with NE? They always seem to get ripped off. Also, why does DEN like to give away draft picks, especially in the McDaniels era? 4th rounder for a guy who was buried on the depth chart.
I'd go $20. Depends how much play you think F. Taylor will get in the RBBC in NE. Rice is hurt by Magahee vulturing his tds. Stewart/R. Williams are both in RBBC. I think you have to just wait and be patient and see how those situations unfold.
I have the same shitty problem with my wideouts. Drafted waay too many young WR's. Crabtree, Calvin J, Desean Jackson all killed me this week. Would have been nice if I got that last second CJ td. I've got Johnny Knox, Mike Sims Walker on the bench and I think I'm going to start one of those guys in place of Crabtee. I claimed Austin Collie on waivers but I'm not sure I'll get him. I'm thinking about making a play for Nate Washington. The other Titan WRs stink (Britt especially--he also has baby momma trouble) and Washington had a fair amount of targets in the red zone last year.

I'm in last place in my league it is not fun at all. CJ Spiller and Michael Crabtree both burned me big time.
Ryan Grant just got put on IR by the Packers. Brandon Jackson is the starting RB now; I'd also monitor who they bring in.
I'd go with Young at QB; he'll get some chances this week vs PIT. They'll focus on stopping CJ. Only negative is if they get a lead Fisher will run to burn off clock and that'll bump down his stats. Could get some nice rush yds too. To be fair I don't think he'll hit the 30 td pass total since this is a Jeff Fisher based run offense. His upside is the 2001-2003 McNair year totals. Something like 20+ pass Td and some rush yards and 5 td rushing.
D. Anderson didn't do too bad fantasy wise. The rest are pretty much avoid although I guess there's a chance that Alex Smith turns it around.

As for the other games, I didn't get to see many of the action since I was at Foxboro but the Texans finally beat the Colts. The last few years they've come close but lost leads late in the game it seems. Not this time. Could this be the year the Texans make a run at the playoffs? And could the Colts suffer the fate of many of the past Super Bowl losers and miss the playoffs altogether?
The Redskins looked pretty good last night. Solid D, kept Dallas out of sync all night. I was hoping the Eagles knew what they were doing with making the switch at QB. I drafted Kolb for one of my fantasy teams and he had as bad a start as I could've imagined. So far, not so good. Packers should be tough this year.
Lions got some tough luck against the Bears. But I guess a rule is a rule, and I'll have to stick to that since the "tuck rule" holds a special place in my heart. Again though, I had Calvin Johnson on a fantasy team and that would've helped out a bit.
Jets defense looked tough tonight, as expected. BUT, they committed WAY TOO MANY penalties. Flacco went after Cromartie and Wilson repeatedly and with much success. No running game to speak of. As for the Jets offense. What offense? They might as well have not shown up because they produced next to nothing if it weren't for LT. He's about the only one who seemed to play well on the offensive side. Overall their offense was offensive.
KC special teams look quite special against the Chargers right now. Rivers seemed a little off in the first half, maybe due to the poor weather.
And yes, I'd say it's tough to gauge the Titans beatdown of the Raiders. However, they took care of business and I did think the Raiders were going to be a little better this season. We'll wait and see on that one.
From what I could gather, Miami didn't look all too hot against Buffalo, but they came out a winner which is all that really matters. Henne and the passing game will get better as the season goes along I'd imagine.
Colts have big problems at OLine and DT. They always used to get around this problem with having good starters and ok depth. Now the starters are suspect and the depth is bad. They are starting an undrafted rookie at OT. I always wait for them to level off (to like 7-9 wins) but Manning always gets them to 12 wins or more. A lot of shootout games for Manning. Bob Sanders is also rumored to be out. Bump up the Colts WR for fantasy.
Didn't see Jets-Ravens, although judging by the score it looks like I didn't miss much. Sets up 2 must win games for Jets (vs Pats) and Bengals (vs Ravens) if they want to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start.
Cowboys-Redskins tough d battle. The Cowboys for a good team, commit the stupidest mistakes at the worst times. Romo should have just taken a knee. Cowboys D looks good that's not the problem; the OL is suspect and playcalling (more runs and less passes) is always questionable. That was a definite hold on the last play.
Regarding Kolb, I'd just dump him or relegate him to bench status. He's not going to be able to practice until Friday (if at ALL). Pick up anyone who has a pulse (starting who does not stink). Concussions can be tricky and take a while; that game on the whole was a mash unit. Ryan Grant out with a serious ankle injury; Leonard Weaver out with a torn ACL (do not watch replay--the injury was sick); Jamal Jackson out with torn triceps. Luckily, Eagles play the Lions. Packers definitely look like SB contenders. How the heck did Clay Matthews Jr. slip to the 2nd round?
Bills looked awful in the offensive line again. I started Spiller and he gave me crap.
Regarding the Raiders, the QB holds the ball too long and the OLine is garbage especially the OT. McFadden looked good though. Their Run D is good held Chris Johnson to like 66 yds not including that 76yd run. OK that is not exactly praise there.
Chargers miss Vincent Jackson more than they think. I'd just double Gates and force the WR to beat the corners. Gates still had a good game though.
Almost forgot--49ers laid a fucking egg this week. The Cards still have a chance but they have two RB with fumble problems.
#1379 Re: The Garden » The 2010-11 NFL Season Thread » 817 weeks ago
Titans with a 38-13 blowout of the Raiders. Hard to make a judgement on the team since the Raiders OL is awful.
Lions got fucking hosed by the refs on a TD call that would have won them the game. Catch was overruled by the refs on a really crappy nfl rule.

I fear for the rest of the CD sessions, I used to be as optimistic as anyone about a follow up album but now I'm more inclined to believe the music will be shelved permenantly.
You've got to wonder what Axls goals are now, he has a completly different band to the one that recorded the bulk of the music in the vault, and bizarrely hasnt recorded a note with them. Seems like the excruciatingly drawn out CD sessions have put him off recording completely, so where is he headed with this new line up?
I think that is a fair assesment to make as he has always been the impediment toward releasing new music for Guns N' Roses. I think that the rest of the guys do want to release and record new music (read Ron's past few interviews) but they all have to wait on Axl. And who knows when he feels like going into the studio. This is where having a manager who's a little tough and not an enabler would help. There are still some issues lingering between Axl and his record label from the CD promotion fiasco.
In short, unless he absolutely needs to release a record, we'll get more of the same. A tour every few years with rumors of a new record and members leaving and being replaced is what I see in the future.
