CS was/is a cute little group, nothing more and nothing less.
saw them live a couple years ago, bought the tickets when LIVE was supposed to be there - they pulled out but i still went and had a good time.
was able to make it through the set. counting crows, on the other hand, were not able to keep my attention past the fourth song.
Note to: bigbri, madagas, strat0, and Neemo
When describing music:
Heavy = Fast and hard
When describing lyrics:
Heavy = Deep

I don't know. The Edge is pretty creative I think. Yes he uses alot of effects but that's what he's into. He's not about big self indulgent solos or any of that stuff really. Sure he does solos but it's not what excites him. You would never have an album like Achtung Baby with the type of guitar player that typically gets worshiped on a site like this or any other site dedicated to a hard rock band. I think calling The Edge one dimmensional is actually the furthest thing away from the truth of what he is.

The Edge is about as diverse a guitar player alive! Heck, he even plays a mean banjo when the notion suits him:buckethead:
the edge is creative and his music fits the songs well and his simple and straightforward approach adds a poppy element to the music. he doesn't try to take over the songs but compliments the other musicians instead. i just can only listen to so much U2 before the music begins to sound the same and it's not bono's vocals i get sick of.
too much alternate picking over and over again. that's not diverse.
that's ok though, u2 song's are all about the lyrics/vocals. they are different than other rock bands from their time in that fact. they could have been labeled alternative with rem had that label been more acceptable for popular bands at that time.
i love u2.

pretty big drop then

i think axl's ego is the reason we didn't get a super group
that's what would have been best for sales
axl and bunch of other icons
instead, he has something he can control in every way
there's a lot of talent there, don't get me wrong

Its insane how I'm like the only Rattle and Hum nutswinger on the planet. If I had to pick only one U2 album to listen to, it would be that one.
I was at the ZOO TV show in 92 when they did Even Better Then The Real thing on the VMAs.
Bastard.
That was the highlight of that VMA show.
madagas, you're about as old school as it gets on these GNR boards. I was in 5th grade when Live Aid happened.
when love comes to town, from that album, is one of my all time favorite U2 songs

the "revolving door" has gone unnoticed to most of the world. all they know or will notice if gnr tours is there is no slash. they have no idea how many people have come and gone and don't care. i agree a final lineup needs to be established for touring and if future albums/tours are on the way they need to find that lineup right now, make it good (marketable and talented), and stick with it after taking the plunge.
Anyone who bought the album and read the liner notes would have a clue as to how many players have passed through the band no? It's funny how people always say the world is smart enough to know this isn't the original Guns N' Roses yet they're not smart enough to know the band has opperated as a revolving door? Please. People saw the band on the MTV awards with Buckethead. how many of those people who saw them live in 2006 thought to themselves "Gee where is the guy with the bucket on his head?" I bet alot. Unless a person still thinks Slash is in the band they know this is Axl and a revolving door of musicians.
but the people you are talking about there, who know who's on the album, are the ones that bought the album. what i am saying is that, to the casual fans, the revolving door was created when slash left and any interest in the band since then has been predominately maintained by the big kahuna, axl.
sure you have your bucket fans, and your finck fans, and your bumble fans but, again, these people bought the album.
the "revolving door" did the extent of it's damage in the nineties.
right now, if gnr is to hire a new guitar player i would rather see a brilliant unknown player than a sloppy seconds guitar hero because i want to hear great music more than i want to see increased interest in the band. if the music is good enough on the second album and he is a major contributor he could become a draw but, as i said in my last post, it then becomes important for the lineup to maintain stability (if they are hoping to build on the success of cd).
if that is the case, they definitely need someone at lead guitar that can grab people's attention. ideally someone that is already well known that could bring fans and hype with him.

They do need a QB. They've needed one this entire decade. Bears would have multiple SB rings this decade if they had anyone decent at that position.
Funny though that when they had all the pieces in place for a championship, all they needed was a solid QB. Now that the team has holes all over the place, they decide they want a QB.
and now the vikings have decided to go that route as well. they must really envy the bears.
That was the highlight of that VMA show.
