You want to turn him into Peter Steele?

This may be the most we'll ever hear of that EDM nonsense recorded alongside the Beavan album.

Based on what videographers have said about their approach (3 cameras on a stadium?!) and seeing some of the workprints (like the Better vid),
NO.

The only song from the Chinese era that Axl ever seemed to show a special interest in was "Better".
The Blues, too, I'd argue.
One can imagine him mulling over his relationship to Stephanie Seymour in the lyrics.
And Xmas 06 seems like a good guess for the Soul Monster vocals. Obviously, until anyone in the know confirms or denies, we guess.

Bet it didn't sound too murky for Ax.
That omnipresent kitchen sink style in his productions suggests he either gets lost in the woods, or, he actually hears every bell and whistle and deliberately stirs them up.

Good stuff, really interested in what Sean Beavan said. Pretty shocked he recommended Ezrin with Ezrin wanting to basically ditch everything he did. And that Axl was wary about May.
How it went was that Beavan and Ezrin had done some stuff together and had rapport. Had Ezrin come in at that point (around March '00), he would've overlapped with Beavan from two weeks to a month (as they did with RTB). This could've gotten things going in a different way.
"It started off when Jimmy Iovine (ed: producer, chairman of Interscope/ Geffen) asked me for a big favour. They were stuck, they were stuck in a studio in North Hollywood for years with Roy Thomas Baker (ed: Queen’s producer), and nothing was happening." (Bob Ezrin, HitChannel, 04/12/12)
So they took RTB instead of Ezrin and ended up going for Ezrin anyway, only for him to say, this album is lacking.
"I agreed to help out if Axl would agree to work with me, which he did. He had the idea that the only person who could finish the album with him was me, based on what I don’t know." (Bob Ezrin, HitChannel, 04/12/12)
The reason might've been Sean Beavan's high opinion of him, which he'd expressed to Axl.
#137 Re: Guns N' Roses » "Oh My God" on End of Days (Clean version) CD - different? » 392 weeks ago
a difficult thing to understand ...
why an artist releases a song, and does not work to promote it, does not dedicate himself to what he created?
Sean Beavan, producer of OMG, said it was Interscope head Jimmy Iovine, who came in, listened to some tracks and pitched the idea including OMG on the soundtrack. It was fairly typical record company behavior; the film was coming out and they always want to promote their in-house artists somehow. Sympathy played into Interview with a Vampire the same way. There was a slot on the soundtrack that the record company felt was good for Guns and they offered it.
#138 Re: Guns N' Roses » Do you believe new Guns N' Roses music will be released in 2018? » 393 weeks ago
I'd say a new AC/DC album and tour w/ Axl in early 2019. The tour could be about 1,5 years, as was the case with Rock or Bust. By this reasoning, Axl would do NITL dates this summer and shift focus to AC/DC after that.
A wild card in the AC/DC dpt is the passing of Malcolm, the other songwriter. I'd expect Axl to contribute to the lyrics, but Angus might want someone else to swap song ideas with. They're also currently short one bassist. Would be pretty sweet if Duff'd join in, to fill both roles.
One'd think Duff and Angus would share a no-nonsense work ethic and that Duff's punk roots would bring a new spin to the tried and true concept. Axl/DC would then be an interesting band.

A little rant upfront and Axl, very light on his feet.

Bucket, yeah, but I never thought of Brain as being the drummer on the 2000 Beavan album. I guess in my mind I always put that at 2001.
AFAIK, Brain never contributed to the Beavan album. His tenure with Primus ended in April/May 2000. The Beavan album was in the can and Josh Freese had bailed out. Brain started re-recording drums after the band relocated at Village Studios in late '00. Tom Zutaut showed up in around Feb '01, when they were trying to get the Dave Grohl feel to Brain's take on CD.
