Awww isn't it cute watching Slash try to emulate Buckethead.
I dunno but I like it more than when Bucket tried to emulate Slash

I don't believe her. She claimed to not know who it was but when someone tells her "it was probably Fernando", all of a sudden Fernando is the guilty party. Had someone said "it was probably Del James", he'd be the guilty party and people start giving him grief.
This dog wont hunt. Fernando isn't walking through stadium crowds looking for Izzy signs.
It's not really that hard to believe. Someone sent her a photo of Fernando and asked her if that was the person who took her sign. She didn't ID him before that as she'd never seen him before, but recognised him in the picture as the person she interacted with on the night. As far as walking through crowds - she was up the front - enough so that Axl was able to see her and comment for the stage.
Lets face it - removing it "just in case" it bothers Axl without telling him is the classic Team Brazil method of Axl wrangling. They've done this before with Slash signs, asking fans to reverse their t-shirts, refusing to let Slash into a vegas show back in the nu-gnr days, and even refusing to let slash see Axl when he drunkenly turned up at his house. This is also the organisation who rewarded Jarmo for years of online censorship.
You're acting like it's far fetched but it's actually very very believable.

The girl whose sign was taken has identified Fernando:

Yeah I tend to see John's point on that....
If it wasn't Axl personally who ordered it then it was surely likely to be someone from team brazil who thinks they're doing the right thing. But not like the venue decides to suddenly care about an izzy sign.
No way the one on Rock In Rio was a stunt either IMO.

What about the Slash shirts?

oh monkey, not you too..
it's izzy fuckin stradlin you're talking about here. wise the fuckin bap. who the fuck have you been listening to the last 30-odd goddamn years?
let me give you a clue, it's not richard fortus.
he does it prettier than izzy.. fuck me..
Hahah...in fairness to me what i've been into in GNR is always the Axl and Slash parts - Axl's rasp and Slash's guitar solos (or later interest in Bucket/Bumble's shred etc). I'm not really fussed about the rhythm playing unless they're causing problems.
Eg: I'm not sold on Stevie in Ac/Dc as he has bad timing when compared to Malcom and it's noticeable listening back to it.
Seriously though fortus does play things prettily! Look at all the little things he does to make simple guitar parts more interestng:
I'll grant Izzy is a better writer than forus. But i've seen nothing indicating the band wants to write fresh, and if they do release anything, it's going to be more Paul Huge riffs with Slash overdubbed from Axl's hints.

In terms of quality - for me it's very specific to how it feels - sometimes a cheap guitar just seems to play well for your style, other times they're awkward and go out of tune every note.
I wouldn't worry about brands too much - although abnormally cheap guitars are often junk - so like if a guitar has a price like $20 it's probably pretty unplayable.
Then again sometimes a name brand guitar just suits you.
Another tip is if the type of music you want needs a lot of whammy stuff you're probably going to need a better instrument. Straight up rock stuff you can play on almost anything but if you're doing controlled dives and bends like VH or Vai or someone it gets pretty hard on cheap guitars.
Some very simple tips I'd have are to avoid subjecting your guitar to situations where the wood might bend - so don't leave it in the sun or expose it to extreme temperatures more than necessary for use. Store them in the case or on a proper stand more than propped against walls.
I found going to a guitar store and getting your guitar professionally set up, along with occasional services makes the world of difference.
Hopefully someone can give you some better tips - I'm not a "handy" type - so my solution was always to outsource any maintenance.

I don't understand this at all. Look at the songwriting quality of Izzy vs Fortus.
Why let loyalty dictate quality of product? Makes no sense to me..
Because other than a vague "maybe we'll get to it one day" there doesn't seem to be any direct plans for songwriting.
Seems the current plan is to do these USA dates then a massive world tour of the same.
Songwriting excluded, if the game is just rendering the old songs then fortus is the better player. Izzy doesn't have a distinctive rhythm sound - so it's not like how odd sounded replacing slash with Robin/DJ, or Axl with Myles. Basically anyone can play the backing chords. But fortus does it prettier with all the additional voicings he uses - and he can also trade leads with Slash better than Izzy can chops wise.
Fortus as an employee is also 100% certain to not walk out. Izzy as a guy who helped create the band but now demoted to a non-partner may well bail if he gets pissed off. He does have a history of it even outside of GNR - there's stories of him vanishing on his own band during rehersal when he lost interest in the project.
If they're going to continue GNR as a creative force - sure bring in Izzy - but if the plan is touring the hits - the quality of the product may actually work out better with fortus.
Although how you feel about Richard is how I feel about Frank. It's not that he's bad - it's just they have multiple better drummers on the sidelines so they can maintain loyalty to the replacement of the replacement's replacement session guy. Really it's time he did a DJ and respectfully remove himself. It's kinda comical that the guy who wrote the drum part to jungle is out the back having a soda while the band's 32nd live drummer covers it during the reunion.

Slash gave up way too quickly, ran off to do Snakepit, and the damage verging on irrepairable by the time he got back. He got back just in time for his chickens to come home to roost. While Duff(and Matt) hung in longer, they made the exact same mistake a year later with Neurotic Outsiders. There's heavy shit going down and your answer to that is to run off and do a solo/side project?
It's interesting though that basically everyone has run off to a side project by my reckoning, like Slash and Duff, Bucket, Bumble, DJ....hell even fortus and Dizzy fill in the time. It's hard for people to wait for Axl.
However, it would be interesting in an Alternative universe where Slash wasn't a junkie - that would take the pressure off him to get back on the road for Snakepit 1 - which may have given him more patience for Axl to tinker Snakepit.
IMO you're using way too much of what happened in the CD era to describe the alternate universe of a mid-late 90s GNR.
Perhaps you're right. I just feel that was the beginning of the rot. Hell TSI was ment to be a fill in EP but got upgraded to an album when they couldn't get their shit together - and the sad thing is they never did. We're 8 years on from CD - a record they stuffed up the release of and which wasn't the 'real' band to most, and then it's 25 years since UYI. What are they doing? Redoing the UYI tour down to godfather and attitude.
The elephant in the room is that Axl seems to really struggle to develop new material these days. He even joked with Ac/Dc that it would be helpful if someone could send him in some finished great songs.
In my opinion the problem all these years is connected with Axl being in control. I think it just distracts him from the art side too much or creates too much mental pressure or something. That's why nothing got done. The old band sticking around I don't think would necessarily solve that unless they stuck round as equal partners the whole time.

Thank God. I guess one thing isn't related to another but there's been so many music losses already this year. Obviously a win for his family and friends too.
