I find it fascinating that there are people who think the vault is full of quality material. First of all, even CD was mediocre or "good", but certainly not a masterpiece. It should have been after all these years and millions and the bunch of musicians, but wasn't.

Secondly, according to Axl they don't have that many songs. Imagine the quality of the scrapped material if even Rhiad and Silkworms survived.

Thirdly, they haven't written a song since Bumble joined. That's 7 years.

Also, the stable setlist also shows the lack of creativity.

But Axl is a God and his abilty to create wonderful things cannot be questioned. I understand it. But the guy is done, get used to it. Or keep dreaming. Anyway, I don't really care, since I care about music, not this Axlist religion.

What has Trent done since The Fragile?

I hear ya. The guy is almost dead, creatively speaking. I'm a huge NIN fan, The Downward Spiral is among my very favourite 10 albums, but his last good record was Fragile. He's still been very active since then, but the music lacks and he doesn't really have anything to say anymore. It's just the "a song for NIN fans" routine in NIN cliches.

I don't think that any memorable could come from a supposed collaboration, although some people here acted like even Blood in the Water would have been something amazing. So it'd have dozens of fans. But not more.

Axl just needs to get out what he and the band has made, good or bad. OMG didn't get a wide release because it was a bad song, it was because other people and Axl lost faith in it. The song is great.

Well, Axl was great, full of venom, full of anger, full of energy, full of message. But the music sucked. It was horrible. A badly written, uninspired song, with some out-of-tune guitars here and there. Even if they had promoted it a lot, it would have gone to the same place, the garbage can.

But. I think after all these years Axl must have some material worth releasing. I'm not a fan of CD, but hey, even an album in that quality would be better than jerking with CD remixes and tribute tours. Sadly enough, I'm afraid Axl burnt out a long time ago. He had been struggling creatively for years, partly because he had to realize he wasn't Guns N' Roses himself, partly because he's bipolar in everything - sometimes a maximalist, sometimes a lazy ass, sometimes overconfident, sometimes insecure. Those recording years sucked the energy out of him, combined with the was against the label. Anyway, I think he's done and the only thing we can hope is the CD2 album in some years.

I listened to over an hour of Del last night.

He talked about how he had never paid taxes in his life, the IRS was ready to take everything from him in 1992. Del went to Slash and Duff, both just said "that sucks" and never did anything, he finally went to Axl and he saved Del from financial ruin without any hesitation. Pretty cool of Axl to do.

The story of this man, who's been Axl's puppet from Day 1 is very convincing. I mean it's very likely that as Axl's friend he first asked for Slash's and Duff's help, and only later asked for Axl's. These people are so far up in Axl's ass that they feel the need to prove again and again that they are there. Feels like home for them, I guess.

BTW Axl showed class.

Leaks:

The acoustic Better was interesting, it'd be a gem as a B-side or on a remix album. I really liked the music, it was very creative how they turned that electric stuff into this soft and clean, alive music. Axl's vocals were hurting though sometimes. With less music going around, it screamed for rerecording. I haven't noticed till now that some of the Better vocals are Street of Dreams/Madagascar cathegory bad.

DJ Better. I liked the different intro, but the rest only took away from the album version. The most frightening thing is that they reworked an already released song! 18  Makes me wonder if those rumours were true and Axl really wanted to rework and rerelease CD in 2009. roll  If they're still tinkering with the CD songs, then I don't know when to expect a new creative era.

Goin' Down. Sounds like more of an Izzy solo song than a Tommy tune, but I wouldn't say it's not a Tommy song. I'm not a 14 Years fan, but this one makes 14Ys epic. Pretty forgettable. The solo is awul, out of place, out of style. Goin' Down and Silkworms on the same album would be more eclectic than Duff's drunk solo self-belief album. I don't know why they go back to this music style without Slash and Izzy, it can only be worse than the original. The only good thing was that, like others mentioned, it sounded like something organic, and not some cut-and-paste lifeless tinkering through the ages.

Anyway, at least there is something.

Nah, that's absolutely and completely a Tommy Stinson track. It sounds exactly like the songs on Village Gorilla Head and One Man Mutiny. Makes you wonder if any of those were earmarked for GN'R before he finally got sick of waiting. In fact, given that about half the tracks on Tommy's solo albums feature GN'R members (Fortus, Dizzy, Josh Freese), it's kind of funny that the only thing that really marks this out as a GN'R track are the backing vocals from Axl.

When the Slash's Snakepit - Village Gorilla Head comparasion appeared on the net (both Slash and Tommy getting sick of the waiting and releasing the "GN'R songs" under their names) someone from the Axl camp said that Tommy consulted Axl and only used songs Axl didn't want, insinuating that Slash took wanted songs, too.

I see no reason to think it's fake.  Sounds like what a remix would sound like.  That's what it is, and probably why it was never released.  I agree, it's not very "good".  But it's not like this is the lead single to the next album or anything.  With that in mind, it is what it is.  I don't expect many people to like it, and personally I won't be listening to this repeatedly, unless I decide to trip heavily on acid in the coming days.  Too repetitive.

It is what it is, a poor remix. I agree that it's so below average, that a 12-year old could have done in his room.

However, I don't understand how anyone could expect something magnificent from this stuff - remix albums are usually either very repetitive or full of "experimental" electronica, something a NIN or Skrillex fan would probably like, but not for guitar/piano music lovers. Anyway, remixes can sound good, sometimes better than the original song, like Manson's Horrible People vs. The Beautiful People. This is not the case with Blood in the Water, but the rest can be different. I don't think it could be worse than this.

BTW I don't get why they were jerking with this kind of shit, when they can't even get an album done in years/decades. Maybe the unfocused working method is another issue besides Axl's terrible working ethic, laziness and the lack of good ideas.

Well, here is an amazing frontman they forgot about. He's over 50 and killing it. I guess right now he's the best. I'll see him and his band next week. cool

But compared to Silkworms and the title track...prostitute and twat WERE big guns.

Ask yourself - you hear the demo of the title track and you hear the demo of twat....

which do you think is most likely to be finished into something that fits with the past works....

I like TWAT and it's one of the big guns of the album for me. The other is TIL (except the guitar solo).

My point is that CD, SoD and Madagascar are so far better songs than Prostitute or ITW, that Axl couldn't be serious thinking otherwise. Also, those are the songs he played a lot in the past 13 years. CD and SoD were even singles from the album - just to contradict his 2002 self. Would you release your B-cathegory songs as singles, and none of the ones you believe "big guns"?
