#151 Re: The Sunset Strip » Most Famous Bass Players » 885 weeks ago

I don't know what you all know about jazz music, but any jazz fan will tell you that Jaco Pastorius is one of the best musicians of all time.  And he's a bassist.  I suggest that any bass-enthusiasts out there check this guy's stuff out.

And what about Yo-Yo Ma?  Probably the most famous classical musician of this generation.

The only bassists who I would say are most famous for being bassists in rock are:
Geddy Lee
John Entwhistle
John Paul Jones
Flea

The rest, like Gene Simmons, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, and Sting are known for their image, singing, and or songwriting.

I'm not sure how people who make subtitles usually do their job, but I'm assuming there's gotta be some software available somewhere that can automatically transcript dialogue.  If you can type text and make your computer say it, I'm sure there's something somewhere that can do the exact opposite.

grilled T-bone and roasted garlic potatoes with sour cream... yum!

^ and ^^, act civil to one another.  Buzzsaw isn't a troll, he's just a negative Nancy, everyone knows that.  Stepvhen, we don't insult one another around here.  If you want to exchange insults, there are other places to do it.

This thread is a disaster.  I thought we were talking about GNR being on UMG's 4th quarter release list...

Of course they wouldn't have sounded the same if they didn't do drugs.  Do you think anyone who was clean and sober would let Ringo sing and write?

I like this move.  Now instead of a bona fide #1 centre, we have 3 #2 centres.  This will balance the attack.  It would be interesting to put Kovy and Lang together.  They had some fantastic years on a line together in Pittsburgh about 10 years ago.

This is a lot better than waiting around for Sundin who was pretty unlikely to sign in Montreal anyway.  If he did put on the Habs sweater, you could bet his heart wouldn't be in it.  And it would be a waste of $8 million...

Yeah, that threw me for a loop as well. Could explain why my Uni girl has had no info.

One would hope that the album doesn't go through Sony/BMG if the band is still under contract with Universal... What a huge legal mess that would be.

Harper's one of the biggest dumbasses in politics.  At least everyone knows Bush is a moron... Harper is a pseudo-intellectual.  The Conservative ads are hilarious.  They're doing everything to smear the other guys and not even bringing anything to the table regarding their own policies... Oh yeah, that's because they have none.

ABC (anything but Conservative) campaign is in full force.  I want Harper tarred and feathered and shipped to Washington with the rest of the bozos.  I just wish the Liberals had a legitimate leader.  I don't think we'll get many onboard with Dion, although his policy is pretty strong.  He just doesn't scream PM to me.  NDP all the way.  Maybe we'll get 40 seats this time... haha

Quebec is going to ruin this one for all of us again.  As long as Harper keeps giving them whatever they want, he'll stay in power.
