The Mountain Dew tastes okay. It isn't as sweet as the regular one. This is probably because I'm not a big fan of Mountain dew anyway. Too bad cause I really like the Pepsi Throwback.
I haven't seen this mentioned here in the thread but the throwback drinks are only available for two months. The promotion started nationwide on 4/20 and will end at approximately June 13. I figure it is because it is more expensive to make soda with sugar than HFSC--which is in almost everything. The safeway where I bought my drinks only had a few 12 packs left as opposed to the mountains of regular Pepsi and Mountain dew. If you like throwback and it's on sale, buy it otherwise you might not have a chance to later on.

The one great thing about this movie coming out is that the likes of Best Buy are putting the other movies on sale. I just bought Terminator 2: Skynet Edition on Blu-ray for $14.99 at Best Buy. This is a brand new release, just came out on Tuesday, so that is a hell of a deal to get it for $14.99 at a store known for ripping people off on catalog titles. They also had the original Terminator on Blu-ray on sale for $12.99 so I got it as well. I just got done watching Terminator on Blu and I was pleasantly shocked to see that the picture quality is pretty damn good!
BB is also offering free shipping on blurays for two days making it a good deal. Tejastech08, how is the picture quality on T2, I've read some reviews on Amazon that says the picture quality is crap.

I prefer T1 too as I think it has a better dramatic story. I'd give Bale a break as the screenwriters of T4 wrote such gems as Primeval and Catwoman, but they did somehow manage to write The Game, which was good. Although Fincher directing the film probably had something to do with that. Has he ever directed an awful film?

I just drank a can of throwback Pepsi while watching a dvd. First thing, that tart aftertaste that you get with the HFCS Pepsi is not here, that is a positive although it might take you some time to get used to the difference. At first I thought it tasted like some diet cola.
There is a better cola flavor in this throwback Pepsi as it leaves a far superior aftertaste and finish. I'd say that it tastes similar to the gummi cola candy made by Haribo.
In short, I prefer this version to the regular Pepsi. I'll try to drink a Mountain Dew throwback and compare it to the original.

...if alot of Axl's animosity towards Slash comes not from the man himself but people saying for years that Axl needs Slash...and Slash needs Axl?
i just kinda wondered that today...i know if i'm not fond of something but am forced to deal with that thing day after day then i magnifies my feeling towards that particular thing or act (or even person)
I think you're onto something here, Neemo. It's like someone telling you to do something, yet you do the exact opposite for some reason. I've figured out the easiest way to try to predict what GNR will do is just to expect the exact OPPOSITE of what a normal band would do.
There's probably another untold reason why he doesn't care for him though. I think the calling out of Slash in 1989 for using heroin use caused friction in their relationship. I do think that monkeychow is correct in saying that their communication skills between one another sucked. I suspect there was a lot of frustration in both men and Slash going out and recording the Snakepit album--which was supposed to be part of the new GNR record in 1995 was probably the last straw for Axl. Conversely, when Slash returned to try to work something out with Axl, Axl never showed up on time in the studio. He also refused to speak with Slash face to face. Slash probably saw that as the sign that their relationship at that point was unworkable.

#1617 Re: Guns N' Roses » Eddie Trunk: What's Up With Guns N Roses? » 886 weeks ago
So with that, I agree. Some fans, not all, as soon as they get some potential "good news" (maybe) and an interview, they drop to their knees and gap their mouth open. If Axl does something cool (Rock Band), then I say so.
The problem here is that whatever a shred of good news comes out , it is automatically followed up by MONTHS of inactivity, thereby rendering whatever positive news there was useless. Haven't they been "planning" this tour since at least late last year since CD dropped? I just realized the other day that the mythical 2009 Chinese Democracy tour has become the new CD. Think about it there are vague rumors about it happening. Band members think it'll happen soon. You have people calculating on when is the last day the band can announce it happening in order for it to happen within a specified time period.
I'm beginning to think that maybe Axl isn't as interested in creating music as the fans are in listening to it. I just don't think it's a defining part of his life anymore. You know what though, that's totally fine with me if he's done with music.

Here are some of my impressions on some of the Rock Band 2 rips:
SOD--the orchestra and symphony play a bigger role in the song and that is a good thing. It gives the song an added touch of grandeur. Honestly, I didn't miss the guitars here at all in this song. A vast improvement over the actual version.
Catcher in the Rye--I hate to say this but even without the lead guitar this song still sounds like a clusterfuck. Those Axl howling background vocals are distracting. The piano part in the outro sounds out of place and almost destroys Axl's vocals. It doen't belong there and adds nothing to the song. Without the lead guitar though, Brain's drumming shines through though and I am glad for that.
Madagascar--The lack of a solo is the major weakness here. Without it the song just sort of sits there in the middle and I'm waiting for something, anything to happen. I have a better appreciation for the quotes and the solo after listening to this version.
Prostitute--Not much of a difference here but there is some juicy rhythm guitar work around the 4:15 mark (Bucket?)
Better--the bass is loud and clear on this one. Without the lead guitar you can hear the techno influences of the song. One awkward part at around 3:28 or so there are 3 seconds of total silence. I actually like the last minute with Axl's backing vocals and the last verse of the song. I still prefer the 2006 version though.

THANK YOU
I liked the original with Finck's solo--it didn't bother me(the solo) but it wasn't great or anything. This version you provided however blows the original out of the water. The multiple instruments blend in with each other and adds that extra dimension that was Axl's original vision when he was constructing this song. I love the extra touches that the flute, harp and other wooded instruments. I could never hear the strings or the harp clearly in the original it was always buried under something. This version with the lowered vocals allows the instruments a chance to move to the forefront. The symphony has a melancholic sound which reinforces the main theme of lost love and is rather appropriate.
I wish they had just canned the guitar solo and went with this version.
