Cheers for posting, if Duff writes a book I imagine it will be a very coherent well thought out piece of literature. I hope he does!

James Lofton wrote:Still blows my mind he wouldn't pull the trigger on this record eight years ago.
He handed an album into the label around 99/00 but it was rejected apparently.
That's a good point I had forgotten about that. If that is the case whoever rejected it should be shot! With hindsight that was a COSTLY rejection. If you believe that many of the leaks were from recordings done way back then I cannot understand why they didn't release it then. Obviously when they rejected it they didn't expect he would take another 7 or 8 years to finally get it out. But from what we've heard the material was strong enough for a release at that time and probably was most suited to that time as well.
#1843 Re: Guns N' Roses » Message to GNR fans asking about tour plans (from Ron): » 868 weeks ago
Great message from Ron, we've come to expect nothing less from such a classy guy!
If it's already being promoted on TV etc is seems strange that they haven't confirmed anything yet. The difficult thing is I don't think they can be 100% sure of things until Axl actually turns up at the venue on the night and physically walks on stage. So I could see why they certainly wouldn't confirm anything at this early stage.
#1844 Re: Guns N' Roses » Rapidfire Recordings for sale (5 Unreleased Axl Demos from 1983) » 869 weeks ago
Yeah I agree, they would be interesting to hear but I wouldn't imagine the recordings are great quality or anything. Good luck finding anyone that is willing to part with more than a couple of thousand dollars for them at best.
Imagine if you bought them just for youself as a collector - what's stopping this guy leaking them later on - obviously he would have copies. If you buy them it doesn't appear as though you could offically release them since Axl has stopped the guy doing it so far, so besides having them as a unique collectors item I can't see a lot of value. Even if you could release them in today's download era good luck selling enough to cover your costs.
If the buyer never releases/leaks the songs I guarantee you this guy eventually would so why would anybody fork out big $$'s for them!
#1845 Re: Guns N' Roses » How far for GNR? » 869 weeks ago
Unforutanteyl only 15 minutes drive in the car to get to the venue here in Perth. Can't afford to fly to the eastern states like I did in '07 to catch further shows.
Even if $$'s weren't an issue I honestly don't know if I would fly accross again to catch further shows anyhow. If it was a reunion lineup then that is a whole different scenario, I would move heaven and earth to try and see extra shows.
#1846 Re: The Garden » Derren Brown Predicting Lottery Numbers Live on TV » 869 weeks ago
Yeah we heard about that down here. I would be really curious to know how it was done.
Seen some speculation about shit being written on the balls he has as the real ones come out somehow. e.g. lasers or some other weird crap but I'm not sure how that could be possible.
I have seen footage showing that the ball of Darren's on the far left appears to move slightly at one point or be slightly higher than there others for a a short time, but personally I couldn't see it.
You would have to assume that there was some remote manner to burn/write/print whatever those numbers onto the balls Darren had as the real balls were drawn and announced, but I've got no idea how he did it.
Great job I say!
It's BS too when he says he can't show the numbers before the draw because legally the BBC have to announce them first. There is nothing illegal about saying what you GUESS the numbers will be. That proves that they are written on the balls somehow after they are drawn.
If he could show his numbers before the draw actually takes place then he would be a FREAK!!!! A rich one too and you wouldnt tell fucken anyone about it.
Fantastic trick though I take my hat off to him!
#1847 Re: Guns N' Roses » Fernando's link to leaks? And the craziness that is gnr » 870 weeks ago
And why do people insist on hanging on in desperation for a reunion? What's the point?
Grasping at insignificant straws can only go on for so long.
If anything it should seem pretty fucking clear that it'll never happen when Axl Rose himself says that he considers Slash to be cancer and that he'd basically rather die than allow it to ever take place...
At least try to be somewhat realistic.
Mate do you understand what people are actually discussing here??????
I personally am not hanging for a reunion I also specifically said in my post that at this point in time I think one is a pretty far off thing. BUT what we are discussing is whether one actually got close to happening a few years ago.
Do you understand the difference?
#1848 Re: Guns N' Roses » Fernando's link to leaks? And the craziness that is gnr » 870 weeks ago
Axl, in any dimension or alternate reality, will ALWAYS conceptualize a reunion on his terms, both emotionally and financially. Axl doesn't need money, but at the same time, feels that dangling the prospect of making others money, will gain him more power. This whole thing might never had happened, but even still, i'm sure the man has approached every business deal that way concerning GN'R. He'd be stupid not to.
Exactly, perhaps he sensed their desperation for a reunion and therefore decided to have a crack at being totally unreasonable with the terms of one.
I mean if he managed to get their publishing rights simply by doing a handful of tour dates that may be incentive enough to bite your tongue and stick it out. At the end of it he could be rid of them once and for all. No publishing rights left by the old guys, means they can never interfere and stick their nose in what he does and have some sort of say ever again.
Perhaps that was something worth pursuing at one point - or at least trying it on?
#1849 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy II? - The Truth » 870 weeks ago
I see Mysteron has now come out and actually said:
They Taiwan date in Dec. and others are being considered.
Monkeychow it's also interesting what you posted earlier in this thread the stuff you copied from the interview Azoff did in March with Rolling Stone where it mentioned some Asian dates at the end of this year including Taiwan. (Taiwan are obviously purshing for independence from China so from a marketing perspective that may be why they were chosen as part of a tour).
What Mysteron says (not that I ever put much credence into what he said though) plus what Azoff has said in print, all seems to fit nicely with what Copperye theorised below:
Here's a conspiracy theory for you folks: Early into the year, Azoff sold Axl the idea of a joint summer stadium tour with Van Halen in the US. If the Live Nation/Ticketmaster merger would've happened on schedule, the new company could've written the rules for the tour from the ground up, and they would've certainly liked to see two of their old-school hard rock flagships out there as a literal tour de force.
By a hindsight, it would've been perfect. The new company would've controlled every single aspect of the tour and could've pulled all the stops to make it big. It would've been a similar feat like Azoff selling CD out to BestBuy and freeing Axl and Universal from the bondage dungeon. With that amount of promotional muscle, they could've rammed the tour down everybody's throat, despite CD sales in the US being what they were.
A new guitarist was hired, Azoff told Axl to get ready take on the road. By May, the momentum was gradually being lost, as the seal of approval on the merger kept dragging. Azoff was simply unable to book the stadium tour as intended without Live Nation under the same roof. Axl got pissed and kept firing him three times in a row. Then the commission report deadline was announced and Azoff called Axl back, saying they'd now know with certainty when the prospects of a US tour would be revealed.
The report will be turned in almost exactly on the one-year anniversary of the CD release. A date in Taiwan has been booked (yet unconfirmed) for November. Could it be that Azoff's plan is now to push GNR out to the foreign markets as the report comes in, at which time he'll start making plans regarding a potential Live Nation/Ticketmaster US tour?

How do you mean? The attempt by Axl to take the publishing deal off the other guys or the fact that Axl sold his publishing back to Sanctuary a few years ago?
