Actually, that doesn't work when I want to talk "Best Buy leaks" after I've been away for a day or so and the conversation has morphed into old-vs.-new.
THAT'S the problem.
Theres a 'Best Buy thread' thread in another part of the site btw.
The old vs new argument is more than relevant in this part of the site, hence the title.

GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist BUMBLEFOOT Jams With Tribute Band On Long Island - Sep. 29, 2008
GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal jammed with the GN'R tribute band NOVEMBER RAIN at the "Rock & Roll Ball" this past Friday night (September 26) at the Munchaba Lounge, located at 58 Gardiners Avenue in Levittown, New York. Thal co-hosted the event with professional wrestler/actor Brimstone, according to a press release.
A couple of photos taken during this past Friday's jam can be viewed below.
The event, which happens every Friday night at Munchaba Lounge, has already brought together many rock celebrities, including Lita Ford, Evan Seinfeld (of BIOHAZARD), and members of ANTHRAX and LIFE OF AGONY with some of the hottest up-and-coming bands from the area for the best party on two legs.
Thal recently inked a deal with DEEP/BCD Music Group. His latest CD, "Abnormal", which was released on July 1 via all digital outlets, will be made available in October. The DEEP/BCD Music Group version of the album will include an exclusive bonus track not available anywhere else.
"Abnormal", the follow-up to Thal's previous offering, "Normal", is a hard rock album flavored with a light-hearted mix of different styles and genres, with catchy hooks and blistering guitar work. It contains "17 powerful, well-delivered tracks" featuring Thal's "incredible lyrics and seriously intense skills on the guitar," according to a press release. Drawing influences from such diverse artists as the SEX PISTOLS, THE BEATLES and FRANK ZAPPA, the CD is "sure to appeal to fans of GUNS N' ROSES as well as musicians everywhere."

I still get chickenbumps when i listen to the solo's off slash with GNR !! He plays amazing to me although i have never listened to VR... I dont know why , im sure the music is fantastic but i never really gave them a chance
Maybe my mistake , its to late now anyways i guess..
Its never too late to listen to VR - they have cds available! Admittedly there were better live, when Scott wasnt monged at least. Whilst some of their stuff is really good, and theres a few blistering Slash solos on the albums, theres very little that matches his GNR work. However I think the man will back back all guns blazing on his solo album and next VR album (hopefully). Hes really been on form as of late.

Nice!!!!! He's in form of late..i liked the playing on that Alice song too...hope his next solo album kicks ass...or a new VR record features some hardcore solos!
He certainly does seem to be on form. I think the next VR (if there is one of course) will def be a departure from the Weiland compromised albums. Hopefully they'll get back to doing what they do best, kicking ass Appetite style. They just need the right frontman, but in this day and age they seem few and far between. Call Robert Plant, hes just written off further Zep activity once again...
Listening to this tune again.... Good work Keep wiping the floor with the naysayers.

Agreed. Slash's playing on this shows he is second to none for emotive guitar playing. I hope this is a sign of what his solo album will be like.

I knew the album would be on the horizon the moment my buddy in the music biz talked to Ron Thal a month ago.
And you didnt care to mention it?
#187 Re: Guns N' Roses » The "Best Buy" leaks » 885 weeks ago
I'm finding this hard to fathom. We could be getting CD in less than 2 months. Unreal. Unbelievable. I don't want these leaks, I'll just wait for the real thing.
I will say one thing I'm disappointed about, unless we hear differently, is that CD might be filled with songs we've already heard. Of course, that's our fault, right?
Weird isnt it!
Its not our fault we've heard most of this album already, if they'd managed to release it in a reasonable time frame then we wouldnt have had to resort to downloading leaks. Even Shacklers is 6 years old apparently. Much older than when the leaks started appearing. If food gets thrown to a starving man he's not going to wait an indeterminate time to eat it, hes gonna dig right in.
Either way, the leaks are the only think thats made this whole debacle remotely palatable. If it wasnt for them, most of the sensible GNR fanbase wouldve jumped ship years ago - theyre the only thing that have made me still follow this band.

Hmmm, its hard to tell a lot from the quality of these recordings but from what can be hear (and thats not a lot) they just seem to have ironed out that crap parts and tidied them up a bit. Listening to something as poor quality as this reminds me of when I bought St Anger.
Roll on 25th Nov, or leak date, or whenever!
#189 Re: Guns N' Roses » The "Best Buy" leaks » 885 weeks ago
Same here please!
It feels weird knowing that this album is almost actually here and that we have probably already heard most of it. Its kinda sad that after all the years of myth and speculation that its really just another album, and cant possibly live up to expectations based on what we have heard.
Right Axl, wrap it up and have a reunion with the proper GNR, you know it makes sense.
Stil, I cant believe thats its actually coming out. Its surreal, I spose now we'll have a proper leak before long too.

Yeah... seeing as it's taken nearly two years (other than to Guernsey/wherever it may be - and believe me only about seven or so people live there, LOL) to ship.:haha:
Dont know why your mentioning Guernsey but bizarrely I happen to live in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Theres more than 7 people there but out of all of them, I am (for the most part) the only one who hasnt laughed New Gnr and the leaks out of the door whenever theyve been played. Axl N Friends are nothing but a joke over here, and sadly because of my insistence that it may be a half decent album, I'm going the same way!
