I wanna hear what else there is too - I just don't like me chances of it happening anytime soon unfortunately
#1962 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Trilogy? » 885 weeks ago
^ I agree another CD tour wouldn't excite me a whole lot. I would probably go, but after going to 3 concerts last time it would need to offer me something more to really grab my attention.
#1963 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Chart Positions Thread » 885 weeks ago
i think it was madagas who posted the rumored final take by Azoff/Uni/Axl and when you divided it by the amout of units which they reportedly puirchased it was a high number per unit that they paid...i looked for that convo but i couldnt find it for the life of me
I believe that of the funds Best Buy paid for CD. Azoff got $2M, Axl got $1M and Universal received the rest as reimbursement of it's costs etc.
Not a bad pick up for Azoff for doing not much at all - although he did manage to prise the CD out of Axl's hands so credit for that. Unfortunately it appears it was then run into the ground with a shithouse promo, release strategy etc etc. Although you could probably point the finger at a few people for that (Axl included) not just Azoff.
I wouldn't be surprised if Azoff was on the outer now after how everything has gone down.

Here's an idea.....use one producer that you like instead of hopping from one producer to the next with the same batch of songs hoping for a different result.
Other artists release album after album, and before Izzy and Slash bailed, so did GNR. I see no reason to hold Axl to a different standard that you would hold other artists.
Yeah it's tough to have any sympathy for the guy when most of the problems seem to be self inflicted. I have a novel idea, try picking one band, one producer, one studio etc etc. Then try releasing the material in a timely manner. I am sure that would eliminate a tonne of problems.
Unfortunately I think CD is going to be the last new music we hear from Axl for a loooong time. It's a shame but I don't see the "complexities" being dealt with any time soon. A tour is probably the best thing we can hope for but even that seems like only a slim possibility to me.
#1965 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Trilogy? » 885 weeks ago
Q: Axl do you really have 2 or 3 other albums of material?
A: For now we'll concentrate and keep our focus on this album but I will say I've always thought of it as a double.
And no offence but no one's trying to talk in parables. The issues are a bit more complex than anyone would like.
I've still never really understood what can be so "complex" about this whole thing and how everything at every turn is supposed to be so difficult and almost insurmountable???

I got my ticket today for the concert (even though it's not until March next year - damn promotors having all that money for the next 9 months).
Good to see classic stadium rock still sells - and fast!!!!
I also told the missus that I am finally going to get off my ass and head down the road to Fremantle Cemetary and visit Bon Scott's grave. I can't believe I have lived in Perth all my life and never bothered to go see it - I was always gonna go and do it....
I will resist the temptation of making any comparisons to the potential of a certain band with a certain lineup, should they attempt a similar strategy.
TICKETS to AC/DC's first Australian tour in eight years have sold out in record time, according to promoters.
A third show has now gone on sale in both Sydney and Melbourne after the first concerts sold out within 15 minutes this morning in each city.
In Melbourne all 60,000 tickets to the first concert at Etihad Stadium on 11 February, 2010, sold out in just 10 minutes.
Demand was so high Ticketek's website wasn't even letting users get to its homepage.
Perth's first concert sold out in seven minutes and the second one sold out soon after.
As of 3pm today (AEST) there were still tickets available to the second Brisbane concert and the one in Adelaide.
eBay has been flooded with dozens of AC/DC tickets being sold at inflated prices for the first sold out shows.
One seller is asking for $500 for two general admission tickets
"It’s very frustrating," promoter Gary Van Egmond said of the eBay tickets.

"It’s impossible to combat. People were selling on eBay last week before the actual tickets had gone on sale and we had them taken off. But there’s nothing we can do."I feel sorry for the public. Fortunately there’s still tickets available for the third show in Melbourne (and Sydney) so they don’t need to buy them on eBay. It’s not fair.”
Van Egmond said the third show in Melbourne is the final one for that city.
"That's the most we can do in Melbourne, unless something changes at this stage that's it," he said.
The promoter has emailed the band's management with the Australian ticket sales.
"He said they’ll be besides themselves," Van Egmond said.
"We didn’t expect this kind of response, it’s been incredible. People were sleeping out overnight for tickets, which hasn’t happened for a long time."
AC/DC, formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide.

Aye, and people often wonder about the effect violence on television has on young children. You would wonder why it was ever allowed to air in a children's time slot when so many kids would be watching, although the violence seemed to go over everyones heads as the majority that watched this when they were young don't recall it's graphic content. Just like I only caught on to the "Seamen Staines" and "Master Bates" from Captain Pugwash in recent years.
Besides, I was always a "Animals of Farthing Wood" kind of guy anyways.
Oh, and thanks man.
Ahh Captain Pugwash, I remember watching that.
I remember Master Bates and Seaman Staines but I've been told that there was also a character called "Roger the Cabin Boy" is that true or just urban legend?

Found this post written and a few other simialr ones saying that this particular definition of Wog, at least how it pertains to its use in Oz:
“WOG” translates directly to American as “WOP”. The origin differs though. The American “WOP” meant “WithOut Papers” as many Italian immigrants arrived at Ellis Island in the 1880’s. “WOG”, on the other hand, is an old-school British Empire acronym for “Westernized Oriental Gentlemen” and referred disparagingly to the local Indian, and or Chinese public servant who dressed like his boss to curry favour rather than like his compatriots. These days, a “WOG” in Australia refers to someone of Mediterranean ethnic origin, e.g. Italians, Greeks, Turks and/or Lebanese. Fighting words fifty years ago, it’s evolved almost into a term of endearment amongst those born here and often laughed off as such. That said, Sydney has a huge problem with its Lebanese Muslim youth and crime.

On a separate note how's the guy with the coke bottle glasses and his girl telling him "You've seen enough tonight".
Then there is the pissed guy going "I saw the gun, it was like a Glock 9, it was awesome".
Muppets!
Also what sort of handgun goes Chk Chk Boom???
Chk Boom maybe, but Chk Chk Boom sounds like a shotgun to me and as far as I am aware they don't make 9mm shotguns???
Poor girl needs to get her sound effects accurate. I would be happy to help her work on her oral skills.

Besides, I was always a "Animals of Farthing Wood" kind of guy anyways.
