That was actually funny, sad but funny! 16

You guys are very correct in saying 2008 was a bad year for horror, that made this thread harder than I originally considered.  When I started listing my pics of the year I was like..."there has to be some I'm forgetting".  Unfortunately that really wasn't the problem, it was just a bad year.  I did forget Shutter however, that was a decent one.

What's sad is I had to google his name, and then was shocked I didn't remember who the hell he is.

Interesting choice.

Don't feel bad James, most people wouldn't recall that name.  If you remember "Battle Axe" from Quiet Riot's Metal Health you are well aware of the level he can play at.  During the 90s his style changed a bit on albums like Terrified, Down to the Bone and Alive and Well to a more "modern sound".  Sometimes that is a bad term but in his case it was more of a fine-tuning his capabilities rather than abandoning what he had already accomplished.  The result was a guitarist who played at a much higher level than the band he was a part of were capable.

Just wanting to get your opinion of some of the best horror movies of 2008!

Here's a few of my personal favoites from last year:

Diary of the Dead - Any surprise?

The Strangers - This one I had to consider if I really wanted to add to the list.  This film did not realize its potential but still yet was better than the average releases.  The creepiness still managed to come through.

Cloverfield - Again a movie who couldn't live up to the hype yet it did well enough to be one of the better movies of the year.

Midnight Meat Train - This was an adaption from one of Clive Barker's Books of Blood short stories and is perhaps the best adaption of any of his stories since Hellraiser, (which came from The Hellbound Heart).  Solid story and great visuals.

The Ruins - Excellent character development and a solid story make up for some obvious intellectual flaws.  Still a solid movie all around.

The Eye - And no it's not because Jessica Alba is just smoking hot, it is actually a decent movie...surprisingly.

Lol, I was thinking xanax's as well.  Glad it turned out ok James, it's always a good thing when a scare can turn into a laugh and nothing more.

My only problem with your post is how u make GNR out to be the victims.

They are not the victims

THEY chose to not promote it

THEY chose to sell out and give it to the highest bidder

THEY CHOSE Best Buy knowing their lack of stores etc

THEY are the ones not doing a tour

THEY are the ones who aren't releasing videos

THEY are the ones that released the worst possible first single

So let's keep in perspective that those other bands had 'HELP" but they made their own success by busting their ass while axl sit on his ass and took the money and ran.

If this is the first and only post you have ever read of mine then I could see how you would believe this but otherwise not hardly.

I have ALWAYS said that Axl did this to himself, without question.  My point is simply with these (self-inflicted) negatives against the album it is doing relatively well.

As far as Chinese Democracy being the "worst possible first single", you're way off.  It wasn't a bad choice.  Imagine Shackler's, This I Love or Prostitute as the first single.

7 - Guns N' Roses - Greatest Hits
8 - Hollywood Undead - Swan Songs
9 - Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone
10 - Saving Abel - Saving Abel

Thanks Neemo, this says plenty for me.  AC/DC had a SHIT load of help from Wally-world promos (don't think so?  Try to go to the electronics/music area and NOT see it all over the place) and Metallica had quite a bit of (positive) buzz as well , neither were limited to sales in ONE (not very large) store.  Some disagree strongly with my opinion and that's ok, they happen to be friends of mine who often make very good points and don't just shoot off at the mouth, they are backed up with strong arguments.  BUT...I'm right this time!  Ok, maybe only half-right.  The album is a failure if you go by what could've/should've been, however it's not doing bad at all ESPECIALLY considering all the things that went against it.  And no the music wasn't one of those.  I'd love to have seen more rockers but in my opinion it's a solid album.  Appetite/Lies and the UYIs were fuckin' masterpieces, nothing can easily be compared to those albums.  That doesn't mean CD doesn't have its own merits...it does.

Two songs in the top 20, the album still well in the top 40 after 6 weeks (#30) and number 8 top selling artist in 2008 for Canada. I don't think it's the huge failure many claimed.  I remember several people saying it would fall of the charts quickly.  After six weeks being #30 I'd say it isn't doing all that bad all things considered.  If this album even had a LITTLE realistic promo it's hard telling what could have been but I still say we'll see platinum by spring.

It was between Prostitute and TIL but in the end it had to be TIL...SNOOZE FUCKIN FEST!!!  Got to say I'm surprised that Street of Dreams is neck and neck to be voted off with Prostitute.  I think Street of Dreams is a very strong song...oh well, wtf do I know? What do you know? What does anybody know? 16
