I thought both Erin and Stephanie joined forces to take Axl to court over what he supposedly did to them both. I didn’t know Erin was ever on Axl’s side after they split up.

However it is not one of the best YCBM sung by Axl .....
Aside from messing up the bridge lyrics, it sounds great. Light years from the shitty Mickey vocals of 2022.
And he sings with so much venom, anger, and most importantly - conviction!
I love how he sings it!

Don’t get me wrong, I love TSI too. But I think because most casuals didn’t rate it, the almighty Ain’t It Fun got lost on that album. I think it would’ve definitely benefited from being on UYI instead.

You Could Be Mine live at the Ritz is debuting on YouTube in about 5 hours.
From the short little teaser they’ve got up now, this show looks absolutely amazing, and I think this will be the go to for definitive UYI era live footage. I can’t believe they chose Tokyo 1992 over this one!

Ain’t It Fun is one of their very best covers. I think being on Spaghetti Incident it is lost to people outside of being hardcore fans, so it would definitely have benefited by being on UYI. But I can’t think of any track I’d substitute it for. Maybe My World, but that’s only a minute long or something…
Anyway, I noticed it’s also included on the Greatest Hits album (though a radio edit), so I hope that people who aren’t hardcores, are hearing it and discovering what a great cover it really is.

According to a poster at mygnr, a song was played at soundcheck that doesn’t sound like an old GN’R song. It actually sounds a little similar to Atlas Shrugged. Maybe they are planning on playing and releasing something new, or maybe it’s just Slash noodling about during soundcheck.
Either way, have a listen to these two sound clips:
Doesn’t sound like anything I’ve heard before
#227 Re: Guns N' Roses » What are your opinions of HS and Absurd? » 155 weeks ago
Hardskool sounds ok, but the shoddy mix makes it sound worse than it should.
Agreed about the drumming. Frank’s drums sound paper thin and uninspired.
I actually like what Slash and Duff brought to the song. Made it sound more like classic GN’R. But overall, the song doesn’t reach the potential of anything done by the classic lineups.
I kinda like Absurd because it has a lot of that old Axl venom in the lyrics. I think what let’s it down is the repetition of lyrics, and I liked the original chorus too.
AND, Slash plays so much better lead guitar parts in the live version than what little we got on the studio cut.
The decisions this band makes creatively, is just absurd…

I always come back to the Metallica model for these box sets.
Compare the 5kg Black album box set they just gave us. One quarter the price of the UYI set and filled with demos, live footage, audio and video, and do much of that was unreleased and new to the fans. So much cool stuff that the fans actually want and they give us more than we want.
I appreciate GN’R giving us the Ritz on Bluray, that looks like it’ll be awesome. But for that price tag we should’ve gotten 5 Ritz type gigs in this box
The sheen of the live YCBM release is wearing off, and I’m not so excited as I am annoyed at what they didn’t include, that they easily could have.
Always the most minimum effort for the maximum price tag.

metallex78 wrote:Anyway, for all you negative cunts here, I pretty much listened to the live YCBM on repeat the whole drive to work, and it’s just awesome. The intro is a train wreck but they pull it together and it’s just killer!
Plus, I can hear Izzy! Even with him playing what seems like the wrong key at the start, his rhythms alongside Slash is great to hear in a proper live mix.
Slash fucks up the solo, it’s gloriously sloppy but great, in the way that UYI era Slash had just an amazing feel and choice of notes.
And then, on top of that, Axl messes up the bridge section lyrics. But he sings it with so much venom and passion, it doesn’t matter!
You guys can complain all you like.
UYI era is MY era, and I LOVE THIS SHIT.
GIVE ME MORE!!!
Hey, weren’t you an old timer back on MyGNR years and years (at least 10) ago? Your username seems really familiar. Anyway, your enthusiasm is really infectious dude. Hopefully it’ll not be better than it seems as such
Yeah, I’ve been around for years man.
I’ve been posting on GN’R boards since before Jarmo turned the heretodaygonetohell forum into a anti-Old GN’R page.
I started out there, then when it went to shit, I came over to here when it was Roses of Velvet, then GN’REvolution like it is now.
And now I post between mygnr and here.
